The Fury Of A Fallen Alpha
Kane’s POV
The walls of the pack house felt colder, darker—echoing with the anger that simmered deep within me. Cleopatra’s betrayal cut deeper than any wound, festering like a poison. She should have been mine, the weapon I’d wield to crush Williams and take control. Now, she is gone, my plans shattered, and my entire world slipping out of my grasp.
Rage simmered in my chest, boiling over with every breath. The pack, my so-called loyal followers, had started to flinch under my gaze, and I liked it. If Cleopatra thought she could ruin me, she’d soon regret it.
The pack halls were tense as I passed, every head bowed in fear, everybody rigid with anxiety. Today was a training day for the younger warriors, but they were about to learn a different lesson—the price of failure. As I stepped into the training grounds, a hush fell over the pack members. My gaze swept over them, cold and unforgiving. I spotted a few who weren’t standing at attention, eyes downcast and bodies trembling.
With a flick of my wrist, I signaled to one of the guards. "Bring them forward," I ordered, my tone ice-cold.
The guard nodded, roughly hauling two trembling young wolves from the line. Their eyes darted around, barely able to meet mine, and I savored the flicker of fear. They were weak, all of them. They deserved every ounce of pain I was about to unleash.
"Alpha Kane, we meant no disrespect—" one of them stammered, his voice shaking.
I silenced him with a glare, my voice low and venomous. "Respect? Do you even know what that means?" Without hesitation, I struck the young wolf across the face, watching with satisfaction as he stumbled back, blood trickling from his split lip.
I looked around, making sure everyone was watching. "You are all pathetic. Weak," I spat. "I don’t tolerate weakness in my pack, and I won’t tolerate failure. Remember that." My gaze bore into each of them, imprinting the threat in their minds. No one dared speak or move.
A malicious thrill surged through me. If Cleopatra thought she’d gotten the best of me, she was wrong. I’d make my pack suffer, tear them down if I had to, to remind everyone who held the power here.
Back in the dim confines of my study, rage continued to pulse through me. The realization that I’d been robbed of my destiny, that everything I’d fought for was slipping away, was maddening. The palace’s message about Williams’s impending coronation twisted the knife even deeper. It wasn’t just betrayal—it was humiliation.
Williams. My sworn rival and enemy. Now crowned as the Alpha King, he had everything I ever wanted. Cleopatra had abandoned me for him, and the thought sent waves of fury crashing over me. I threw a glass against the wall, watching it shatter, mirroring the fragments of my ambition.
The door creaked open, and Jack entered, his usual calm expression masked by a thin veil of tension. Good. Even he had been skirting the line recently. I’d noticed the late nights, the odd excuses, the strange glances he thought I hadn’t caught.
But for now, I held back. I needed him on a tight leash, needed his loyalty—or at least the appearance of it.
"Someone’s here to see you," Jack announced, his voice carefully measured. "It’s… Kyle."
A bitter smile tugged at my lips. Kyle. My ally in bloodshed, the rogue alpha who’d been silent since our ambush on the Stone Heart pack failed. He entered the room, and I sensed his lingering anger from our last disastrous attempt, but he was still my most trusted ally. Kyle had tasted blood just like me, and we both knew that the desire for revenge would keep him loyal.
"About time you showed your face," I sneered, gesturing for him to sit. Kyle’s face remained expressionless as he took a seat across from me, eyes flicking over the wreckage I’d caused in my fit of anger.
As I motioned for Jack to leave the study, his gaze lingered a moment too long, a flicker of defiance in his eyes. I clenched my jaw, making a mental note to keep a close eye on him.
Kane leaned forward, his voice low and conspiratorial. "I hear Williams is about to take the crown."
I met his gaze, a dark smirk spreading across my face. "Not for long. I’m not done yet. And neither are you."
Kyle’s smile was equally dark, a mirror to my own bitterness. "Then tell me the plan, Alpha Kane."
I leaned back, considering every detail, every possibility. "Williams is vulnerable during the coronation. All the attention will be on him. And Cleopatra... she’ll be right by his side. That’s our chance."
Kyle’s eyes gleamed with understanding. "You want to take Cleopatra back."
"She was supposed to be my weapon," I snarled. "Her powers were meant for me, to be used to crush my enemies. But now? She’s become my enemy. But if I take her… control her… she could still serve her purpose. And Williams, the fool, will watch his world burn."
Kyle nodded, clearly relishing the idea. "I assume you have backup. We’ll need more than just the two of us."
I tapped my fingers against the desk, calculating. "There are two people who despise Williams and Cleopatra as much as we do. The Night Wolf Alpha and Simone. They’ve been itching for a chance to bring him down.”
Kyle’s eyebrow arched. "Simone? I thought he was too unpredictable, too wild to control."
"Exactly," I replied, a wicked smile tugging at my lips. "His unpredictability will be his strength. He’ll want nothing more than to watch Williams suffer, and that’s all the incentive he’ll need. We don’t have to control him—we just have to aim for him. The Night wolf Alpha on the other hand, wants Cleopatra dead. We could use that to our advantage again.”
Kyle chuckled darkly. "So, we create chaos at the coronation. But what about Cleopatra? How will we control her?"
I clenched my fists, the thought of her defiance stirring another wave of fury. "I’ll make her submit," I growled. "She’ll bend or she’ll break. Either way, she’ll be mine."
Kyle seemed satisfied, leaning back with a sly smile. "It’s a solid plan. But what about your dear beta, Jack. Do you think he’s still loyal?"
A shadow crossed my face as I thought of Jack. He was careful, frustratingly so, and his loyalty was slipping, I could sense it. But for now, I needed him close.
I waved dismissively. "Jack’s just a pawn. If he steps out of line, I’ll crush him like any other traitor. For now, he serves a purpose. But I’ll make sure he’s not part of the final move."
Kyle grinned. "Very well. Let’s make sure this coronation is the last thing Williams ever sees."
Kyle and I continued to plot, each detail sharpened to inflict maximum devastation. I could already envision it—the chaos, the fear, the power. Cleopatra would be by my side, her powers bent to my will, and Williams would be nothing but a memory. Every betrayal, every broken plan had only fueled my hatred and strengthened my resolve.
I would reclaim what was rightfully mine.
