His Mark

Cleopatra’s POV

The quiet between us was heavy, thick with unspoken words and unresolved tension as I dropped the bomb.

Williams stood only a few feet away, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my skin tingle. We had just survived the most unexpected ambush, but here, in this room, it felt like the real battle was only beginning.

His hands twitched at his sides, fists clenching as though he was holding something back. The air between us pulsed with a dangerous energy—-possessive, fierce.

“Cleopatra,” he growled after a while, voice low and taut with barely restrained emotion. “Why would you say that? Why would you even hint that?”

I stiffened, knowing this was the moment I’d been dreading since I found out about the child growing inside me. I turned my back to him, my heart racing, trying to put as much distance between us as possible.

I had wrapped a blanket around my body as I was naked after changing to my human form. But it still felt like I was naked under his piercing eyes. The scent of his raw intoxicating presence filled the room, making it impossible to think properly.

“Because it’s the truth!” I insisted.

“Look at me,” he demanded, his voice husky and thick with possessiveness. This wasn’t what I had planned when I decided to lie to him. He was supposed to storm out angrily and reject me. So why is he still here?

I could feel him closing the distance between us, his warmth grazing my skin as he moved. But I didn't turn, not yet. If I faced him now, everything would unravel. The truth I’m trying to hide from him would resurface, and there would be no going back.

But Williams wasn’t the kind of man to wait. He gripped my arm firmly, spinning me around to face him, eyes blazing with a mixture of frustration and desire.

“Tell me,” he growled again, his breath hot against my lips as he pinned me with that relentless gaze. “Whatever it is you’re hiding…I’m done waiting.”

The fire in his eyes was too much. I could barely think, much less keep my secret any longer. My resolve crumbled under the weight of his presence, and before I could stop myself, the words stumbled from my lips.

“It’s true. I’m pregnant.”

For a moment, the room went still. His grip on me tightened, but he didn’t move, didn’t speak. His eyes searched mine, dark and unreadable, and I felt my pulse quicken under his intense scrutiny.

“And it’s yours,” I whispered, my voice trembling despite my attempt to stay calm. Who would have thought finding my mate would make me so vulnerable and soft. I was trained to be an assassin, and not to play the damsel in distress.

“But this changes nothing,” I continued. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, and I don’t want this to be the reason you do. I’m not tying you down, Williams. I’ll go…”

Before I could finish, his hand shot up to cup my face, and he crushed his lips against mine in a heated, possessive kiss that sent a jolt of electricity through my body.

Every muscle tensed, my breath caught in my throat as I melted into him. The kiss was demanding, fierce, and it consumed every inch of me, making my head spin.

He pulled back only slightly, his lips brushing mine as he growled, “You think you can walk away from me? You think I’ll let you go after this?” His voice was raw, filled with a dark promise. “You’re mine, Cleopatra. You’ve always been mine!”

My heart pounded as I tried to regain control, my mind clouded by the heat of his touch and the dangerous edge in his words. “I left you a note,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I said we should reject each other. That still stands.”

His eyes darkened, and a low, rumbling growl escaped his throat. “That note was a mistake you should not ever mention. You think I’d let you reject me after this?”

Before I could respond, his hands moved to the back of my neck, his fingers threading through my hair as he pulled me closer, his body pressing against mine. The warmth of him, the sheer strength in his grip, made it impossible to resist.

“You don’t get to decide that. Not with what you do to me,” he murmured against my skin, his lips trailing down to my neck. “You don’t get to walk away, Cleopatra. Not from me. Not ever. Not with my child.”

A shiver ran through me as his teeth grazed the sensitive skin of my neck, and I knew exactly what was coming. My heart pounded, my breath hitched, but I couldn’t move, couldn’t stop him, even when my brain was screaming that I should.

“Williams…” I breathed, my voice trembling. “You shouldn’t…you don’t have to…”

But he silenced me with another kiss, one that stole the air from my lungs, deep and hungry. His hand slid down my back, pulling me flush against him as he claimed my mouth with a possessiveness that left no room for argument.

“I’m going to mark you,” he whispered against my lips, his voice rough with desire. “You’re mine, Cleopatra. I’ll never let you go.”

And before I could protest, before I could even think, his teeth sank into my neck, marking me with a searing heat that burned through every nerve in my body. The bond snapped into place, locking me with him as I felt a strong surge of pull towards him.

I gasped, the intensity of the moment overwhelming, my body trembling in his arms. His lips moved against my skin, soothing the mark he’d just left, and I could feel the raw power of the bond thrumming between us.

“You’re mine,” he growled again, his voice a dark possessive promise that sent shivers down my spine.
“Forever.”

My heart raced with the thrill of it, a part of me still wondered what this meant for us. Would the bond be enough to heal the wounds between us? Would his pack accept home after the betrayal?

As I lay in his arms, while he offered sweet little kisses on the mark, I knew one thing for sure. There was no turning back for me. He had claimed me, marked me, chained me to himself for life.

No matter what happened next, I was his—-but is he mine? Will he let me mark him?
