A Week in the Silver Room

Cleopatra’s POV

“You had just one mission, Cleopatra!” my Alpha growled angrily, “Just one mission!!”

“I'm sorry Alpha Kane. Theo’s existence would have endangered our pack..,”
He slapped me really hard, cutting my explanation short. I winced at the impact. Something metallic dripped into my mouth. Blood.

“I ordered you to protect Theo didn't I?” he barked, pacing round the room like I just set fire to his ass, “How come you came back here alone with some wild story?”

I tried speaking but the slap came once again, this time, I stumbled backwards, my knees giving way.

“Not only did you mess the mission up but what did you say earlier? He kicked you out of his pack? Tell me Cleopatra, did you betray your own?”

“No! Never” I replied immediately, fighting back the tears. This is all too much for me. I felt weak.

“So how do you explain this!” he growled loudly, making me cower in fear.

His growl echoed in the room, amplifying the fear that gnawed at my core. His rage vibrated throughout the room, like a brewing storm.

With each question he threw at me, he opened up fresh wounds in my heart. But somehow, I knew that I did the right thing. I should be welcomed with open arms not this humiliation!

Then, as abruptly as a thunderclap, one of our pack members entered the office. The Alpha’s form stiffened, his eyes hardening as the man whispered something into his ears.

Theo was dead? Well serves him right, I thought to myself.

Our Alpha erupted like a raging volcano. “This is all your fucking fault!” he yelled dangerously.

If only he would let me explain. I saved our pack from a madman! Literally!

“Lock her in the torture room. She’s not to be let out until I say so,” he ordered in a cold voice.

The torture room? That’s every wolf’s nightmare! How could he order to have me there?
“Alpha Kane please, let me explain..I,”
“Enough!” He barked, ignoring my silent pleas.

“Beta Jack,” I whispered in a broken voice, but he turned his face away from me.

Two men grabbed my arms but I flung them off within a heartbeat, “I can walk,” I growled at them, challenging them to touch me one more time.

I winced as we got closer to the torture room. It could break the strongest of wolves. It was a chamber of horror. We used to call it the ‘silver room.’ The walls, the floor, even suspended from the ceiling in sharp, menacing points. There was silver everywhere.

Days turned into a relentless cycle of torment as I was left there with barely little food or water. Was this just about Theo or is there something more to this? I got tired of my own screams and groanings, the agonizing damage was unbearable, even for me.

I couldn’t feel my wolf anymore, I could only hear her whimpering faintly sometimes. This can’t be just about Theo. There has to be something more.

The room tilted to its side. It was as if I could see the silver, mocking me. I felt lightheaded and collapsed, happy for the break from this nightmare.

Then a vision came. I looked around and I was no longer in the cell but in an open field. The grass was soft under my feet and the flowers smelled divine. Where am I?

Just then, I caught a glimpse of the white wolf. She looked more enchanting and mystical than the night it came to save me. It came closer to me and nestled on my lap. The furs were soft and full, giving me a kind of peace I never knew I could have.

A voice, ethereal and distant, whispered the word, “shadow.” The white wolf and I whipped our heads towards the sound but no one emerged. The voice came again, this time it was closer, but still, no one was close by.

Almost immediately, a shrill voice screamed the name into my ears and I jolted up. What was that? I muttered to myself.

Strangely enough, I felt better. I felt stronger. And for the first time in a very long time, I felt one with my wolf. Something caught my eyes and I turned around frantically. The room was no longer glittering with silver! They had rusted! How? What happened?

I reached out and touched a rusted silver and it melted at my touch, like it was grinded into a powder. Strange. Did I do this? I laughed at myself, a humorless dry laugh.

Maybe I’ve really lost my mind, I thought, a sense of growing dread welling up inside me.

The door burst open, jarring me from my wild thoughts. A warrior stood in the doorway, his eyes wide with shock and fear as he scanned the cell. His scream was a sharp, piercing cry that vibrated through the cell.

Beta Jack entered moments later, his expression a mask of controlled fear. Why is he looking at me that way? Will they blame me for this cheap silver they got as well?

He took in the scene with a swift glance, his eyes lingering on me. “Did you do this?” He demanded, a conflict of disbelief and realization flickering in his eyes.

I looked at him like he was spewing nonsense and shook my head. “Let’s go,” he ordered, avoiding my eyes.

The bathroom became my sanctuary for the next few hours. The cascading water was a soothing balm against the raw ache in my body. I immersed myself in the bathtub, my eyes closed.

One week in that hellish torture room. The echoes of my scream still hunted me, I could literally hear my voice anytime I closed my eyes.

It reminded me of when I was abducted by the Night Wolves. I shivered at the thought. How could my Alpha subject me to that amount of torment because of Theo?

A sharp rap on the door jolted me from my thoughts. I hastily wrapped myself in a towel and headed to the door. One of the kitchen maids, Sally, stood on the other side of the door, a flicker of pity in her eyes and a tray of food in her hands.

She handed the food to me, “Alpha wants you to come to his office as soon as you’re done eating,” she said quietly and left.

The walk to Alpha Kane’s office filled my thoughts with conflicting emotions. I briefly thought about my revenge on the Night Wolves. Did our warriors invade them already? I have to ask Alpha Kane about it.

My steos were filled with determination and with every step, my hatred for Alpha Williams grew. It was all his fault! Somehow, it was all his fault.

I knocked loudly and pushed the door open. Seated across from our Alpha was a figure I couldn’t make out clearly. I walked in further and stopped dead on my track.

That smirk made my insides churn. His eyes held a knowing glint that made me more angrier. My mind raced, trying to make sense out of this picture.

What does my Alpha have planned next? And why is Alpha Dylan Hart here?
