A night's Deception

Cleopatra's POV

I lay still in bed, soaking in the events of last night and this week. My head ached badly.
My mind raced back to the revelation Alpha Williams and their pack doctor explained to me about my origin. How I am an exiled member of the Night Wolves and not just any banished wolf.

Turns out I'm from an Alpha bloodline because of the shape of my mark. Does it mean…the wolf that attacked was my father? No it can’t be!

My head throbbed as the chilling laughter of the Night Wolf Alpha echoed in my ears.

"What an asshole,” I said out loud kicking the air
I need to talk to Beta Jack, or better still our Alpha. I need answers, I thought as I traced my fingers on the mark, the newfound meaning causing a heavy sigh to escape my mouth. Should I call or go visit them? They must know something about this.

“I’m not about to let some terrifying legacy make me crumble. I damn well need a break out of all this,” I said to myself. Tonight, I'm going clubbing. Need to wash all these rogue and night wolves drama off my head. So tonight, I'm hitting the city.

I groaned as I pushed myself out of the bed. The thoughts of being surrounded by pulsating energy on a crowded floor made my heart pound with a renewed excitement.

I stalked towards the wardrobe and sighed as I tossed aside fussy dresses. Finally, my fingers brushed against my well-worn denim and a black leather jacket. I threw them on with an ankle boot and stared at my reflection in the mirror. This should do the trick.

I applied a touch of dark mascara and some red lipstick and headed out to ask Alpha Williams for a ride into the city.

The hallway leading to the Alpha’s chambers seemed like an endless tunnel as I hastened my step. Repairs where still on-going due to the attack last night. I bumped into Renee and she gave me the death stares. “I don’t know what you’re playing at,” she growled in a hash tone, “but I will soon remove this mask you have on and show everyone your true colors,” she hissed.

I only smiled at her teasingly, infuriating her the more as she stormed off angrily. I tapped quietly on the Alpha’s door but no response. I waited for few minutes and pushed the door open. The scene that greeted me as I turned to face the room was breathtaking. Alpha Williams stood right outside his bathroom, water cascading down his broad chest and sculpted abs. As our eyes met, his eyes darkened with something - hotter.

Who said I need to go to a nightclub to unwind anyway, I thought as I gracefully and teasingly walked up to him.
The air seemed tense as I closed the distance between us.
“Cleopatra,” he rasped, his voice a low rumble sent shivers down my spine, “You shouldn’t be here.”

“Why, Alpha?” I teased.

I looked up and stared into his eyes and in that moment, the weight of the world slipped away. Williams’ jaw clenched with unspoken desires as my hands found his bare shoulders and I linked them over his head pulling his head down, closer to mine. Williams’ body hitched, his body responding instantly as he wrapped his arms over my waist.

Good. I smiled. I still have him just where I wanted.

A soft moan escaped my lips as his lips, hot and demanding, met mine in a searing kiss. His hands slipped under my Jacket as he tried to yank off my bra. I pushed my head back, gasping for air as his tongue drew sweet kisses on my neck. I pulled away teasingly before pushing him on the bed and took him in my mouth.

Suddenly, the door opened and I froze on the spot. The figure of a woman standing by the door yanked me off and on my feet as I adjusted my outfit. The lady’s gaze flickered between me and Williams before she landed a slap across my cheeks.

“Excuse Me?” I yelled as I grabbed my cheek.
Williams cursed under his breath, running a frustrated hand through his hair. “I will explain, Sarah,” he said, not meeting the lady’s eyes.

“Cleopatra, leave us,” he said, his voice strained.
This is not supposed to hurt me so why do I feel this way? What does it matter if I'm not the only woman warming his bed?

“Can I at least get a motorcycle? I want to go into the city,” I said, trying not to show the pain in my voice, the playful tease was long gone.

Williams hesitated, but the urgency in my voice left no room for questions.

The walk to the pack garage was a blur of different emotions coursing through me. Am I jealous? I bursted out laughing at the thought of that, ignoring the curious glances from the pack members close by.

I climbed into the Motorcycle, trying to shake off the knot of anger tightening in my gut as the engine roared to life. Soon enough I was at the club district. The neon light that shone from the club offered no consolation. I pushed through the heavy door and made my way into the club.

“Mind if I join you, gorgeous?” A voice purred in my ear. Turning, I met the gaze of a handsome stranger, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous glint. Just then, a scent hit me.

Wolves.

Well, as long as no one bothers me. I thought. I was about to decline the strangers offer, the events of the day leaving me with little desire for company, when a burning sensation spread through my throat. Could it be? I lifted my hand to my neck, the glass shattering as it fell from my hand.

Everything blurred. The music faded slowly and the faces of people around me dissolved into a blur. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and it looked like the room tilted to one side. The stranger’s face swam closer, his words slurred. I swayed, my legs threatening to give way.

“Hey, are you alright?” a voice cut through the fog. Help. I cried in my head, confused. Was my drink spiked? Soon enough darkness surrounded me, pulling me down further into a swirling abyss.

The last thing I saw before passing out was a pair of shadowy figures watching from a darkened corner, a satisfied smirk playing on their lips.

Fuck.
