A night of Treachery
Williams’ POV
“What?!” I growled.
My mind raced with all sorts of clashing emotions. She wasn’t mine in the first place so I have no right whatsoever over her.
Does this mean Dylan is her mate? Curiosity tugged at my mind and I couldn’t stop myself from asking.
“Dylan is your mate?” I demanded, fearing the response.
“Not exactly,” she chuckled, “It’s more like a union of convenience.” She finished.
“What does that even mean?” I asked coldly.
“Does that affect you, Alpha Williams? Would you rather marry me?” She teased, flashing me a smile that made my insides flip.
Damn she’s so hot! That wouldn’t be a bad idea right? I thought to myself. The image of her lying naked with Dylan flashed through my mind, sending waves of cold chills down my spine.
No Williams! You don’t own her! I cautioned myself, regaining my control.
“Well, if that’s what you want, I wish you all the best.” I said instead and stormed off, pride and anger battling within me. She’s not mine and will never be. I should get her off my mind for good. I was only attracted to her body anyway.
I moved through the crowd, with a gloomy look plastered on my face. It seemed as if my senses were dulled by the news. Was it the idea of Dylan being with a woman I’ve shared my bed with or was it something more?
The music, the laughter, the clinking of glasses, it all faded into a meaningless echo as I pushed my way out of the hall.
I needed solitude. Desperately. The fresh night air was a relief to the suffocating air inside the hotel. I paced around aimlessly, my mind racing.
I tried to focus on something else, like how to proceed with the hotel management, how to wade off rogues..anything else, but my mind kept returning to Cleopatra and her ridiculous union of convenience!
I denied the part of me that ached for her. She stepped on my pride, and I cannot forgive her easily.
A sudden movement caught my eyes. A figure was lurking in the shadows across the parking lot, their face obscured. Before I could react, a dart shot towards me, striking me in the neck. I pulled it out quickly.
Who dares shoot at me? A growl escaped my lips as I matched forward but stopped abruptly. My head spun, darkness encroaching at the edges of my vision.
Wolfsbane.
The dart was laced with wolfsbane.
I had many enemies. Which one of them is responsible for this or are they all in on this? And where the fuck is Renee when you really need her!
I shook my head, trying to wave off the dizziness, trying to steady my vision but it was too strong. They really came for me at my lowest point.
I blamed Cleopatra for the distraction.
As consciousness slipped away, I heard a sinister chuckle, a cold voice that sounded so familiar that I could swear, I’ve heard it a couple of times. Who is behind this reckless attack? I thought as I collapsed on the floor.

Cleopatra’s POV
I watched Alpha Williams disappear into the crowd. A flicker of concern crossed my face but I slapped myself hard, replacing it quickly with a determined look. I turned to Dylan, a silent understanding passing between us.
The attack was just the beginning. It was time to put our plan into motion.
Tied to my duty to my pack, I had to be close to this overbearing Alpha. When Alpha Kane told me of their plans, I only just sighed. When will they ever learn to let me do things my way?
I agreed to this plan not just because of my obligation to my pack but out of gratitude as well. I was told that the Night Wolves were already attacked and conquered by Alpha Dylan’s men.
The brief confrontation I had with Alpha Kane regarding the rusted torture room crossed my mind.
The flicker of fear that crossed his eyes when I told him that I just woke up and met the room like that sent fresh waves of confusion inside me.
“Cleopatra?!” I heard Alpha Dylan call as he grabbed my arm, yanking me gently.
“Huh?” I whispered.
“You weren’t listening? I said let’s go,” he replied.
My mind was still a hazy pile of confused thoughts.
“Go? Where are we going?” I asked, trying to bring my thoughts together.
“For Christ sake! The plan Cleopatra! The plan!” He yelled into my ears.
“Oh,” I exclaimed and followed him.
The rogue attack was the first plan, but we didn’t expect he would take that much action to stop it. The second? It was just simple. Kill him.
Imagine the great and vicious Alpha who has been terrorizing packs for years being killed on the day he’s supposed to be in the spotlight.
I would be making history.
I glanced at Alpha Dylan and his eyes were cold. We were about to accomplish his life goal. Killing his sworn enemy. Somehow, a part of me felt bad for Alpha Williams.
Too bad he’s a monster.
We got outside and the parking lot was empty. This can’t be! Didn’t they capture him as planned? My eyes met those of Alpha Dylan and the smirk on his lips told me he had a hand in it.
“What is going on, Alpha Dylan?” I asked, feeling double crossed.
“Let’s just say I have a personal score to settle with Williams. When I’m done with him, I’ll bring his remains to your Alpha and you my sweet little dove will be all mine,” he growled in a voice laced with madness.
“This wasn’t the plan, Alpha Dylan. You do know Alpha Kane will be furious right?” I asked.
“Tell your Alpha that I said he can kiss my ass!” He sneered mockingly, “Oh and Cleo? My proposal still stands,” he finished and walked off.
More reason why my Alpha should have let me handle things my way. I stared at his retreating form angrily. This is my mission. My fight. I can’t let him kill Alpha Williams.
Not when I can do something about it. Not when I’ve sworn to kill him myself.
