Dylan's End

Williams POV

The world slowed as I surged forward. My only focus was the glint of steel in Dylan’s hand and the crimson streak down the girl’s arm. I collided with him, hard and fast, the impact echoing through my bones as I tackled him to the ground.

The knife clattered away, spinning across the stone courtyard. The young girl, momentarily free, stumbled back, her small body crumpling into her mother’s waiting arms. Relief flooded through me, but it was short-lived. Dylan was already moving, his strength surprising even after all the time he’d spent imprisoned.

He twisted beneath me, his fists colliding with my side. I grunted, catching one of his arms and twisting it back until I heard a sickening crack. He howled in pain, but his fury only deepened, eyes wild as he spat, “You think this ends here, Williams? You think breaking me again will change what you are?”

I pushed him harder into the ground, pinning him beneath me. “I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my pack. You’ll never touch anyone again.”

His eyes darted past me, and I barely had a moment to react as he headbutted me, the force of it splitting my lip and sending stars across my vision.

He threw his weight to one side, using the momentum to flip me onto my back. I hit the ground hard, the air knocked out of me. He straddled me, one hand clutching at his broken arm while the other drew back to strike.

“Do you feel it, Williams?” Dylan growled, his face inches from mine. His breath was rank, his expression twisted with pain and hatred. “The helplessness? The knowledge that everything you care for can be taken in a heartbeat? That’s what I felt when you stripped me of everything.”

My eyes flicked past him, and I saw Cleopatra. Her hands were raised, she was charging forward, but it wasn't her. Her wolves had taken over. “Cleopatra, no!” I shouted, knowing what this kind of power could do to her—how it could break her.

But Dylan’s grip on me tightened, and he turned, momentarily distracted. That was all I needed. With every bit of strength, I surged up, using his momentary shift in attention to flip him off me. We rolled across the courtyard, each of us grappling for dominance. I could feel his rage—raw, consuming—but I refused to yield.

I slammed his head against the stone, hard enough to daze him. His struggles weakened, and I pressed my forearm against his throat, pinning him down. “It’s over, Dylan,” I ground out, my voice cold and unyielding. “Surrender, or I’ll end it here.”

He let out a strangled laugh, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. “You think killing me will change anything? I’ve already won.”

“What are you talking about?” I demanded, leaning in closer despite every instinct screaming that it was a mistake.

He grinned through the pain, his voice a hoarse whisper. “Kane…he promised more than just her. This was never about me reclaiming Cleopatra. It was about you…about breaking you from the inside out.”

Something dark twisted in my gut. I glanced back at Cleopatra. Her eyes met mine, filled with fear and understanding. Dylan saw it too, and he laughed again—a chilling, hollow sound.

“He’s coming,” Dylan spat, even as his breath weakened. “And he’ll tear everything you love apart.”

I tightened my grip, rage bubbling to the surface. “Not while I’m alive.”

Dylan’s grin faded, replaced by a look of pure hatred. “Good. Then I’ll enjoy watching you fall.”

The words barely registered. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Cleopatra moving with a predator’s grace, her steps silent, eyes fixed on Dylan.

No.

Panic surged through me. She was fast, but not invincible. And she carries more than just herself now—she carries our child.

“Cleopatra, stay back!” I shouted, the desperation in my voice slicing through the surrounding chaos.

Dylan’s head whipped around, following my gaze, and his eyes lit up with cruel delight. “Oh, this is rich,” he spat, his breath ragged. “The mighty Williams, afraid. For her. For the bastard life she carries.”

Cleopatra didn’t stop. Her eyes blazed with fury as she closed the distance between us. “You don’t get to touch him,” she growled, her voice low and deadly. She moved like a storm, but I couldn’t let it happen—not like this, not when it put her in danger.

I reached out, catching Cleopatra’s arm just as she was about to lunge. “No,” I said, my voice hard with resolve but laced with fear. “I won’t risk you. Or our child.”

For a heartbeat, her eyes softened, and I saw the weight of my words settle over her. But her jaw clenched, and she shook her head. “I won’t let him take you from me.”

Dylan staggered to his feet, his laughter brittle and unhinged. “Touching. Truly,” he mocked, swaying slightly but still dangerous. “But your little fairy tale ends here.”

He lunged toward us, his movements wild but fueled by desperation. I stepped in front of Cleopatra, ready to shield her with my life if it came to that. Dylan lunged with his claws raised, but I caught his wrist, forcing it down with all the strength I had left.

I pinned him to the wall by his throat as he struggled to be free. My warriors had already gathered, waiting for my signal to interfere. “You’ll never win, Dylan,” I growled through clenched teeth. “This isn’t about you. It never was.”

His gaze darkened, fury and madness mingling. “She was mine,” he hissed. “She was meant to be mine. I saw her first. Kane promised.”

The strength of his obsession sent a chill through me, but I couldn’t let it shake me. “You were never worthy,” I said, and with a final surge of power, I twisted his other arm with my free hand, and landed him a crushing blow.

He fell, his body hitting the stone with a sickening thud. Warriors then swarmed in, seizing him before he could rise again. I turned, pulling Cleopatra into my arms, feeling her trembling slightly against me.

“It’s over,” I whispered, pressing my forehead to hers. “You’re safe.”

But deep down, I knew it wasn’t over—not while Kane still lives. I tightened my hold on her, silently vowing that whatever came next, I would be ready. For her. For us. For everything we had yet to protect.
