New Phase 2
“Good morning, Mrs. Felix.”
Olivia greeted too. Mrs. Felix who was excited to see her got off her swivel seat and gave her a hug and commended.
“Oh! Pretty lady, welcome to the Bailey International Conglomerate.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Felix.”
They walked into the office hand in hand.
“Wow. Father. I miss him and mom.”
She exclaimed when she saw the portrait of the Chairman on the wall. Denise dialed his father’s number at once and when it connected, he greeted.
“Good morning, father. Speak with my wife. She is missing you and mom.”
He handed over his phone to Olivia, who was dumbfounded while he walked to the swivel seat. He motioned to Olivia to seat on the visitor’s seat while she spoke with her parents-in-law. After that, she handed the phone back to her husband, who continued the conversation with his parents.
“Hello, father. How is mom?”
“Your mom is fine. Why are you still at home? Is your wife all right?”
Mr. Denise smiled and gave his wife a love look before he responded to his father’s question.
“I am at the office already. My wife is all right. We are together because she was bored staying alone at home.”
“That is good. You are going to make a good husband like me.”
They laughed at his joke and Nichole spoke.
“Yes. I can testify. Angel, you are a lucky woman. Try to visit the clinic before you leave.”
“All right, mom.”
Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey advised.
“Denise.”
“Yes, father.”
“Take care of her. Remember the safety rules.”
“I will father. Thank you.”
“It is all right. Have a wonderful day, Angel.”
“And you too, bye mom.”
“Bye.”
(Cut)
“Wow! I am a good husband.”
Mr. Denise Bailey said with pride. Olivia concurred, using her mother-in-law’s words.
“Yes. I can testify.”
They laughed ecstatically before Olivia moved to the couch, made herself comfortably and resumed her work.
At Mr. Henry Taylor’s office.
He got to work earlier than usual, bursting with a sense of relief, and met his boss in the office. It was not new to him as well as other staff members that he had the habit of arriving to work earlier than everyone that sometimes, they thought he slept in the office.
“Good morning, boss. Good to see you.”
The boss looked up from his system and looked at Henry. He was surprised to see an energetic and lively young man different from the man he that took permission from him the previous day in front of him. Without mincing his words, he demanded.
“Good morning, Henry. What had happened between yesterday evening and this morning? You look different.”
Henry gave a half suppressed laugh and responded.
“Nothing much, boss. I have realized that my marriage was not going to hold as earlier scheduled.”
The boss furrowed his brow and asked.
“This is serious. I hope there is no problem?”
“No problem, boss. I will inform you of a new date when I am ready.”
“Just like that?”
“Yes, boss. Just like that. I beg to leave, boss.”
“It is all right, Henry.”
Henry had made up his mind with the encouragement of his Godfather and mentor to deal decisively with what seemed like a mountain in his life. At 8:30 am, he informed his subordinate that he needed to visit the registry, and he would be back in the twinkling of an eye.
“It is okay. Mr. Taylor. Please, don’t be long.”
“Not at all.”
The highly spirited Henry left to the registry and returned immediately as he promised after he submitted an application withdrawing from the marriage registration. The application made the date of the marriage null and void after the registrar cancelled it.
“You are back, Henry.”
“Yes. I only went to cancel my marriage.”
Henry announced nonchalantly. His astonished subordinate who had his mind on the wedding gave him an inquisitory look but to his amazement, he was calm and busy with his phone. Then he asked.
“What did you say, Mr. Taylor?”
Now, Mr. Henry Taylor who was busy forwarding the approved cancelled application from the registry to everyone who was important to the wedding, especially Whitney and her parents, and did not bother responding to his subordinate’s question until he was done.
“I said, I only went to cancel my marriage.”
He responded dismissively before shoving his phone aside and resumed his work. His subordinate, who understood his body language, minded his business too. Even though, Miss Whitney Relish’s phone had been switched off, he did not relent in sending the cancelled application to her as evidence that she was aware of the cancelled marriage.
When Sir Relish got the message, he was still at the breakfast table with his wife, and the meal turned sour in his mouth. He quietly got off the table without a word. The case of their daughter’s sudden disappearance a few days to her wedding was disturbing and an attack to their prestige. Sir. Relish dropped his cutleries at once and walked to the bedroom. Lady Relish observed him while he walked through the staircase and continued with her meal. Then, she paused and pondered.
“Whitney, why must you behave like this at this critical time? What will the Council of Knights in particular and the society at large think about us?”
After, a few minutes, she got off the dining table and walked to the bedroom. To her consternation, she met her husband in a battle of words over the phone with Sir. Taylor, who must stand by his son, whether he was in support of the marriage cancellation or not.
“Sir Taylor, this is absurd. I don’t expect this from a fellow knight. How can your son do this to my daughter?”
After Sir. Taylor got the message from his son, he knew that Sir Relish will give him a call and braced himself up with one weapon. Then, Sir. Relish’s call came.
“Good morning, Sir. Relish. What about Relish, can I speak with her? She should be up from sleep by now.”Sir Relish ignored his request and continued.
“How can he cancel the marriage without consulting me?”
“Consult you? Why did your daughter go into indefinite sleep without consulting me?”
To retain his reputation as a senior knight, Sir. Relish refused to accept defeat and proceeded with berating Sir. Taylor and his son.
“If your son truly love my daughter, he would have shown me some respect.”
“Respect?”
“Yes. You should have respected my position as a senior knight and allow us to talk over it before such ignoble action by your son.”
Reminding Sir Taylor that he was a senior knight pissed him off. He considered it repugnant, and he set out to humble him.
“Oh! A Senior knight allowed his daughter to elope with the highest bidder.”

(Cut.)
Now, Sir Relish who was speechless cut the call abruptly to avoid Sir. Taylor rubbing it in any further. He knew he had no justification to condemn him, but he could not accept defeat. His wife who had been listening to their discussion quietly suggested.
“Don’t you think we should report the matter to the police?”
The impassioned Sir. Relished, refuted his wife’s suggestion.
“I don’t’ think that would be the right thing to do. From all indication, she was not kidnapped, otherwise the abductors would have contacted us asking for ransom.”
“You are right. If she had found another man better than Henry, she should have let us know?”
“Can you see my point? Involving the police will result to more embarrassment afterwards.”
“I pray she shows up soon.”
Much to Mr. Henry Taylor’s surprise, he did not get any call from his parents nor from Whitney’s parents except his Godfather who responded through a message and thumbs up emoji.
(Good job.)
(Thank you, Godfather.)
He replied and continued with his job as though Whitney never existed in his life.
At The Bailey International Conglomerate
Mr. Denise Bailey and Olivia worked silently until he got a message from Mr. Henry Taylor. He read through and was skeptical about it. So, he forwarded the message to Mr. Nicholas Fields with the message;
(Are you aware of this, Godfather?)
He replied instantly.
(Yes. Cancelling a marriage plan is better than cancelling a marriage.)
(You are right, Godfather.)
(All right. See you on Saturday.)
(Oh! I will not be available on Saturday morning. I wish to visit Louis.)
(We will talk about it later.)
(Okay. Godfather.)
After the chat, Mr. Denise Bailey looked at his wife who was busy working on the montage for the concert and wondered.
‘Why do nice people suffer in relationships? ’
Then, he remembered something and called Olivia’s attention to it.
“Remember to give your school mother a call.”
“Oh! My God. I almost forgot.”
She picked up her phone at once and gave her school mother a call. She was excited to hear from her, and they chatted for about five minutes and got off. Then Olivia concentrated with her work.
At Mr. Nicholas Fields’ Office
After his chat with Mr. Denise Bailey, he became worried. Louis was not one of his Godchildren, but he became one by association. Whenever he would check on Late Mr. William’s family, he would always meet Louis playing with Denise and if he must take Denise out, he would tag along. The issue of Louis silence gave him concern, just like Denise. Apart from that, he could not trust Denise to control his temper when he sees Louis. Then, he sent another message to Denise.
(I will go to Sevenoaks with you on Saturday.)
The elated Denise did not hesitate to respond.
(All right, Godfather. I appreciate.)
