The Secret 7

“Mr. Edmonton, all I am saying is that my schedule the coming week will be tight. So, I suggest that you make your trip this week.”
“Mr. Bailey, I am not promising you anything. But I will see what I can do.”
“It is all right. I am banking on you. Goodbye.”
”Goodbye.”
Mr. Louis Bailey, who was surprised to see Phil, dropped his phone on the office table, got off his swivel chair and joined them at the couch.
“I was not expecting to see you, brother-in-law.”
Phil gave him a reassuring smile and stated.
“I had to keep him company. So, how are you?”
“I am fine. And you?”
“I am great.”
“What of my sister and nephew?”
“They are doing well. Your nephew is busy with school and his piano classes.”
“That is good.”
Then he looked at Max, who had been smiling, and said.
“You are welcome to Kent. How is your family?”
“We are good. They sent their greetings.”
“I hope my niece will still recognize me?”
They laughed heartily and he offered them coffee. While they were sipping their coffee, Max asked.
“What is happening the coming week?”
Now, Phil pretended that he was not interested in their discussion, but listened attentively. Then, the reticent Louis smiled reluctantly and responded.
“Nothing.”
“Then, to buttress Max’s question, Phil asked again.
“We heard you say that the coming week will be tight for you, will you be travelling out or something?”
He gave a dry smile and refuted.
“No. I just want him to hasten his trip.”
“Oh! That is good.”
To avoid more personal questions, he faced Max and asked.
“What of your colleagues? Are they in the country yet?”
“No. They will fly in by 3 PM.”
“It is all right.”
Now, they took their coffee in silence. After a few seconds, Phil pointed out.
“Louis, do you know that you look emaciated? What could be the problem?”
“You are right, Phil. I had wanted to comment on that, but I felt he was watching his weight.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Louis Bailey, who had been trying to cover up, could not help but become moody. Then he asked.
“Am I?”
“Of course. Have your woman not told you?”
Max teased, pretending to be ignorant of his situation. Then, Phil corrected.
“No. He just failed out of love.”
“Oh! Too bad.”
“That reminds me, Louis. Have you made up with her?”
He nodded his head in disapproval, and Max asked.
“For how long? You should not allow a minor problem to rob you of the love of your life.”
“That reminds me, Louis. Have you hooked up with another girl?”
He glared at Phil, who asked the question as though he had touched a sensitive area and remained mute. Then Max asked.
“Do you wish to reconcile with your ex?”
Now, Max and Phil sipped their coffee while Louis looked on. Then Phil showed concern and asked.
“What really brought the problem? Can’t there be a reconciliation?” I am not happy with your look.”
Now, Louis, who had been living his life as though he were preparing his testament, thought.
‘By the coming week, everything will be over.’

Then, he inhaled and exhaled and narrated how he lost his Olivia without mentioning the person in question. At this point, Phil and Max were trying hard to maintain a positive look because, their brevity was about to fail them. Then, Max asked.
“So, she left with your pregnancy?”
He nodded in the positive. To conceal their knowledge of the lady in question, Phil tried to make the matter look mild.
“Well, you have to move on with your life. Since you asked her to abort the baby, she must have done that and moved on with her life."
Mr. Louis Bailey refuted at once in defense of Olivia.
“No, she loves babies a lot. She did not abort it.”
To avoid letting the cat out of the bag, they stopped the discussion on the matter and Max inquired.
“Do you think I should take a look at the property before my colleagues arrive?”
Now, Louis, who was lost in thought, kept mute. To their expectation, he was tearing up. Even though, the issue was beyond them, they tried to say good words that they did not mean.
“You have to be strong, Louis. Everything will be all right.”
“This is not the end of the world, Louis. Please, be strong.”
Then, his phone rang. Max and Phil looked at the phone that was on the table before looking back at him. He ignored the call as though, nothing mattered to him anymore. When Max said ‘everything will be all right’, he cast his mind on the surgery.
“Pick your call.”
Max urged after the phone rang several times. He ignored his advice and stared vacantly at the wall. Then, Phil, who was not as patient and lenient as Max, walked to the table, picked up the phone and looked at the screen to ascertain the caller.
“Do you want to ignore mom’s call?”
He thundered. Now, Louis, who could not ignore his mom’s call for any reason, jolted and collected his phone from him. He looked at them again and then tried to suppress his emotions before pressing the accept button.
“Hello, mom. I am pleased to hear from you.”
Meanwhile, his mother, who would not be fooled, was able to dictate his state of mind from his tone. Then, she anxiously asked.
“Louis, are you OK?”
“Yes mom. I am OK. How are you, mom?”
“I am fine, but you do not sound OK to me.”
Now, he cheered up. To convince his mom that he was all right, and he said.
“Why not, mom?” My in-laws are here with me.”
With the presence of Phil and Max, Nichole became at ease and said.
“Oh! That is good. Let me allow you to continue with your meeting. Take good care of yourself.”
“All right, mom. Thank you for the call.”
“Do not mention, dear.”
