The Sealed Forgiveness
"We kept it away from him, hoping that you would come to realize your mistake.”
“Has he realized that he was at fault?”
His father asked.
“I am at fault. I have no moral justification not to admit.”
Now, they were silent for a few minutes and only the sobbing sound that was heard intermittently. Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey spoke.
“Louis. You are my son and I would remain proud of you. Your mother and I were monitoring you all through the challenging period. All through our stay in Cairo, your mother was having sleepless nights due to maternal instinct. At a point, she thought you were going to commit suicide. Do you remember that we were calling you very regularly?”
“Yes, father. I apologize for ruining your honeymoon.”
Then, his mother spoke with a soft smile on her face.
“Son, I can feel your pains. I believe that you passed through a lot. All the same, allow your past to pass.”
“Thank you, mom. Thank you, father.”
“One more thing, son.”
“Yes, mom.”
“The twins are not yours. They were preemies and that is why they are incubated.”
Now, he looked at his father and asked.
“Were they at the clinic when we got there?”
“Yes, son. The doctor requested that she should be allowed to take her rest.”
“I hope she is okay?”
The mother laughed and responded.
“She is okay. Her blood pressure shot up and that led to early labor, but she would be fine.”
“Can I see her and the baby before I go back tomorrow?”
“Not at all.”
His parents responded in unison. Then, his father added.
“We cannot guarantee that she had forgiven you and that your presence at this critical time would not make her relapse. Did you get me?”
“I got you, father.”
“We would have to prepare her and Denise for a proper reconciliation. Denise may find it difficult to forgive you because she saw Angel’s pains more than us. She picked her on the road the day she miscarried your pregnancy. Your Olivia would have died with your babies if not for your brother’s appearance in her life.”
Mr. Louis Bailey shook his head in dejection and pleaded.
“Mom and father. I thank you for being my parents. Thank you, saving me from drowning. I would be glad if you bring a lasting reconciliation among us.”
“You are welcome. Consider it done.”
Mrs. Nichole Bailey pointed out. Then his father teased with a smirk on his face.
“Thank you for the role you played in making us your parents.”
Mr. Louis burst into raucous laughter. His mother laughed, too, not bothered to ask which of the roles her husband was referring to.
Five Years Later
The twins, Victor and Victory, had grown into cute babies, and they were enlisted into the Daniel De Pianist group. After the attack on Denise and the arrival of the twins, there was an attempt to kidnap Tim and Daniel, but it failed. After two years, Freya gave birth to a baby girl, whom her husband named Daniela. One night, Mr. Arthur Bailey called his wife and suggested.
“Sweetie.”
“Yes, Hubby.”
“I wish to make an appeal, and I don't know how you would take it.”
She sat up from the bed and gave him a quizzical look. Then, he gave her a peck on the temple and continued.
“As you can see, we are blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren.”
“You are right, Hubby. Is anything the matter?”
“Yes. I want to propose that we dedicate more time for our grandchildren. Our children and their spouses are busy with their careers and businesses. I am afraid that they may not be able to lay the kind of foundation that you laid for them for their children.”
“You are right, Hubby. So, what do we do?”
“Good. I would be happy if you would sacrifice your job and retire. After all, you have only two years to go.”
Now, Mrs. Nichole Bailey felt cheated and turned her back against him. Then, he placed his hand on her shoulder and called out.
“Wifey, are you with me?”
After a few minutes of trying to get her attention, he spoke.
“It was only a suggestion. You can come up with any business that would keep you close to our grandchildren.”
When she failed to respond, he went to sleep. They woke up in the morning and Nichole was still distraught and gave him a perfunctory greeting. Although he drove her to work and picked her that day, she was still bitter.
After a few days of making face, Lady Olivia rushed one of the twins to the clinic. Then one of the doctors asked
“What is the matter?”
“I don’t know doctor. I went to pick them from school and I met him throwing up. I guessed that he must have taken something that disorganized his system?”
“It is all right. He will be fine.”
“Thank you, doctor.”
Afterward, the doctor began to attend to the child while she gave her husband a call. He greeted when he picked.
“Hello, my Lady. You sound panicky.”
“Yes.”
“What's up?”
“We are in the clinic. Victor had been throwing up for over thirty minutes nonstop.”
“Oh! My God. I am not at the complex. I am at the wharf, but don't fret. Nevertheless, will start coming back.”
“Okay, My Knight in shining armor.”
Now, after a few minutes, her father-in-law arrived looking disheveled.
“Angel, your husband just called me. What is wrong with Victor?”
“Good day, father. He had been puking since I picked him up from school.”
Then, the doctor walked into their ward and greeted.
“Good day, Boss.”
“Good day, doctor. How is the child?”
“He is fine. I have given him some medications. He would be fine.”
“What could be responsible for his throwing up?”
“I suspect food poison. May be contaminated food.”
“It is all right. Thank you, doctor.”
“You are welcome, boss.”
After the doctor left, Mr. Arthur Bailey advised.
“You don't need to go home. You will wait for your husband to come and pick you, did you get me?”
