Ambassador of Peace 2
“Relax, my Lady. We can handle it.”
Then, he took a deep breath in and exhaled before he picked the call and spoke calmly.
“Hello, Constable. I am delighted to hear from you.”
Now, the Constable who had known him over the years as an arrogant man and one who esteemed himself above others was awestruck, but he put himself together and replied calmly, which concealed his surprise.
“Good to hear from you, Sir Relish. Are you aware that Mr. Arthur Bailey is not happy with you?”
“Yes, Constable, and I admit I offended him, and he has every reason to be angry with me. My wife and I planned to pay him a visit when he gets off to tender my apology.”
Now, Lady Relish swallowed hard and looked at her husband of many years ago, admitting that he was at fault and volunteering to apologize.
'Even the devil would take his apology.'
The Constable mumbled and responded.
“It is OK. I hope to hear from you.”
“It is all right, Constable. Thank you for your concern.”
“You are welcome.”
(Cut).
The Constable could not believe that he was not dreaming. After he got off call with him, he gave Mr. Arthur Bailey a call and advised him to have a second thought about his plan to arrest him. When he promised to speak on the matter the next day, he was planning to give Sir Relish the opportunity to tender his apology as he promised.
When Sir Relish got off call with the Constable, he looked at his wife, who was still in her nude beside him, and kissed her temple. Then, he pulled her closer to his chest and declared.
Your love had kept me going, my Lady. I will be careful with my friends. I just realized how incautious I had been with you and my friends.”
Now, Lady Relish spoke with an emotional voice into her husband's ears.
“My, Knight in shining armor.”
“Yes, my Lady.”
“Is this you?”
“Yes. The man you loved and patiently tolerated over the years.”
“I love you.”
“I know. I will make it up to you.”
At Mr. Denise Bailey's Office
After he left his father's office, he got to his office and resumed his work. Suddenly, his phone beeped and he picked hastily. He read through and opened his eyes wider in astonishment. Then, he leaned back on his swivel chair and read through the mail again.
“What! Father must see this.”
He stood up at once from his seat and headed to his father's office. To his discontent, his father had left for the Government Hospital to pick his wife.
“Oh! He had left.”
At the Bailey Native Home
When Mr. Arthur Bailey got to the hospital to pick his wife, he gave her a call as soon he got to the gate. She picked the call at once, and he made her to know that he was around.
“OK, Hubby. I will be with you shortly.”
When she joined him in the car, she expected to meet a dejected Arthur, but he was smiling as usual and gave her a peck on the temple and asked.
“How was your day?”
"My day was fine. And you?”
Mrs. Nichole Bailey asked as she camouflaged her anxiety and searched his face for any clue concerning Lady Relish's complaint. But, he responded cheerfully and turned on his ignition.
“My day was splendid.”
He drove off while his wife waited for him to speak. When he did not, she got hold of herself and soon, they were at home. They had their lunch and later retired to their bedroom. Meanwhile, Mr. Denise Bailey decided to pay his father a visit to relate his message. In any case, he got to the gate and met an unfamiliar car at the gate. He parked behind it and watched the Security Officer do the usual check before granting the car access.
“Welcome, Young Master.”
“Thank you officer.”
Afterwards, he drove in after the car. To his surprise, the car stopped at the front of his father's apartment. He parked beside it and got off. He began to climb the steps of the veranda when he heard his name.
“Denise.”
He stopped suddenly and looked towards the voice. Then, the door of the opened and a lady came out.
“Oh! Lady Relish.”
He exclaimed and began to walk back to the car. To his surprise, the door of the passenger's seat opened, and Sir Relish got out of the car too and smiled at him.
“Good to see you, Denise.”
He gave him a puzzled look, which the couple noticed, but he recollected himself and greeted calmly.
“I am pleased to meet you, Sir Relish.”
He turned and faced Lady Relish and greeted warmly.
“Good evening, Lady Relish.”
“Good evening, Denise. Are your parents at home?”
“Yes, Lady Relish. Come in.”
“That's good.”
Lady Relish replied. Now, Mr. Denise Bailey began to walk back to the veranda while Lady Relish gave her husband a smile, and he walked up to her side, held her hand, and they began to walk behind Denise.
“Kindly make yourself comfortable. I will be back.”
“Thank you, Denise.”
Sir Relish appreciated, even though he was aware that he had his reservations about him. They took their seats on the couch while Denise walked to his parents’ bedroom to inform them of their presence. Then he tapped on the door and waited.
Mr. Arthur Bailey looked at his wife, who was resting on the couch and watching the television, just as she looked at him. Apart from, Denise or Freya, no other person could knock on their door. Then, he called out.
“Denise.”
“Yes, father. Sir Relish and his wife are here to see you.”
Afterwards, Mr. Denise Bailey walked back to attend to the guests without waiting for his father's response.
“They will join you soon.”
“All right, Denise.”
Sir Relish acknowledged cheerfully.
“What do you care for? Tea or coffee?”
“Both. Tea for my wife and coffee for me.”
Sir Relish said with a smile and Denise walked to the kitchen where the janitor was waiting for his instructions.
