The Continuous Assessment Work

“I wish to let you know that the email address of the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group is on the department platform. You can write to them if you wish.”
“That is kind of you, but why can't we write as a group?”
Sophia opened her eyes wide as she just realized that. But she was able to defend it.
“I did not think of that, besides, it is not a group project. An individual may decide not chose them as their case study.”
“You are right.”
Then, the lecturer walked in, and they settled down.
“Good day, class.”
“Good day, Prof. Adeben.”
He looked at the class searchingly and smiled.
“You are looking cheerful today, what is the secret?”
They smiled on instead of responding. But the Prof. wished to know why they were cheerful. He believed in teaching students who were relaxed. That was part of his techniques, so he asked again.
“Why are you not answering my question?”
As usual, they looked at him as though he was a television screen. However, he knew how to deal with such students.
“In that case.”
He said and grabbed a seat from the podium and sat down, crossed his legs and smile too.
“Let us smile together and see who would get tired.”
Now, the students were mesmerized, and they cackled with laughter. Then, they turned and looked at Sophia.
The direction of their looks had given the Prof. a clue to whom he should ask questions. But he kept smiling. The look on his face was so funny because of the caricature smile.
“Prof. Adeben. I will tell you why we are cheerful.”
Sophia volunteered, raising her hand.
“Oh! Never mind. I'm not interested anymore. I prefer we just smile.”
The students laughed the more before he got up and gave Sophia the opportunity to give her answer. She narrated her story and afterwards, the Prof. spoke.
“Oh! That's a brilliant one. But don't be too sure. Getting the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group as your case study is not a guarantee that you must score forty percent, but your ability to use the information they would make available for you to answer your questions.”
Now, their joy had been punctured. Although he made a point. They only needed to sit up.
“Thank you, Prof. Adeben. We are grateful.”
“It is my pleasure. I wish you forty over forty.”
They cheered up and shouted in unison.
“Thank you, Professor.”
“It is achievable.”
“Yes, it is achievable. Our topic today is ….”
The lecture came to an end for the day at six o'clock, and they left.
At the Morris Ancestral Manor
Mr. Morris was at home already and looking forward to their return from school. After communicating with his family in Nigeria by 2 PM, which was 8 PM over there, he was elated. That day, he talked at length with them, especially with Ken, because of the commissioning of the project in a few months.
“Hello grandpa.”
Jeff greeted. Leon greeted too.
“Hi, Mr. Morris.”
“Welcome back. How did your lectures go today?”
“Splendid.”
The excited Jeff responded.
“What about you, Leon.”
“My lectures went well. But I feel for Jeff. Studying two courses at the same time is not a walk in the park.”
Now, Mr. Morris was touched. He had never considered that. Then he looked at Jeff and asked worriedly
“Son, if it is stressful for you, you can always differ one.”
“All right grandpa. I will let you know when that time comes. Leon, don't think too much about me. I will be fine. Meanwhile, I have good news for you, grandpa.”
Mr. Morris sat up from his couch where he was resting and watching the television while waiting for them and cast an anxious look at him. Leon, who had been standing, sat down and looked at Jeff. Then, he continued.
“I have gotten the approval of the Endless Love Arcadia to use them as my Case Study.”
Mr. Morris chuckled at the excitement on his face and asked.
“Why don't you want to use us?”
“I want to explore another organization to acquire more ideas from the experiences of other people.”
“It is all right. Congratulations.”
“Congratulations, Jeff.”
“Thank you. Meanwhile, they also gave me a gift.”
“Where is the gift?”
Leon asked while Mr. Morris who was not too anxious about the gift looked on.
“It is in my car trunk. Let me get it. Leon, please come with me.”
They walked out and returned with two cartons of Organic Tea.
“These are the gifts, grandpa.”
“That is very thoughtful of them. You should take a leave from them and do the same to those who would choose us as their Case Study.”
“It is noted, grandpa.”
The janitor took the cartons to the store. While Jeff and Leon got to their suite and got down to business.
“Leon, how many people have filled the form?”
Let me check. He went through the record and announced.
“Two hundred and seventeen.”
“It is okay. We will stop when they clock two hundred and fifty.”
“That is all right. What gift do you suggest we give to them?”
“A handset.”
“Can't you think of other things? They all have phones?”
“What do you mean by they have phones? Don't I have tea? But I was given a carton of tea. Now, tell me, what do we give to them?”
Leon giggled. He could not think of anything, and Jeff teased him.
“Are you suggesting we fetch oil and gas for them?”
They guffawed before continuing with the planning.
“Check the number of the students who have applied again, please.”
Jeff pleaded and Leon quickly checked.
“Wow! Two hundred and forty-eight.”
“Keep an eye on it, once it is two hundred and fifty, revoke the link.”
Leon smiled as he held his phone. After two seconds, two more people registered, and he revoked the link. Now, they were in a better position to plan for the students since they knew the number that would be accommodated. Then, Leon asked.
