The Love That Triumphed 7
“It is all right, Mr. Bailey. I have no doubt in the features of the property that your staff had informed me of. We will just fly around because we are here.”
“Oh! That is fine. We are glad that we earned your confidence.”
They flew around the two hundred hectares of land before returning to the office to make payment and sign the contract. Before 10 am, the contract was sealed. Afterwards, Mr. Louis Bailey walked him to the car park, and he left feeling very fulfilled.
“Thank you, Mr. Bailey. I am glad doing business with you.”
“You are welcome, Mr. Edmonton. We are pleased to know that you are glad doing business with us. We look forward to more business relationship.”
“You can count on me. I will mention you to my friends. Bye”
“That will be nice. Have a productive day.”
He walked back to the office with Eric, who was excited. Now, he got a call from Barrister Guidance informing him that he had served Mr. Stephen Bailey with the petition.
“Wow! That is good, Barrister Guidance. How did you do that? Has he returned to his house?”
“No, Mr. Bailey. I went to his resort to do that, but I was told that he was not around. I had no choice than to hand the petition to his staff, who acknowledged the receipt by signing the acknowledgement copy.”
“It is all right. Let us see how it goes?”
“Okay.”
At The Registry.
Mr. Arthur Bailey was exhilarated when he heard the registrar announced the marriage and set the stage for the big smooch.
“I hereby declare you husband and wife. Now, you may kiss the bride.”
The couple swung into kissing and cuddling the moment the officiant made the pronouncement. Apart from his family members, there were other witnesses who were not part of the family seated too. They clapped heartily for the couple while the registry photographer captured every detail of the event. Then, the officiant signed their certificate and issued it immediately. Afterwards, they took photographs and walked out of the registry delighted.
“Thank you all for coming despite the change of date.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey appreciated his children. Then, Mr. Phil Anderson who was seeing their marriage as an accomplishment of a task was delighted. Then, he responded.
“You are welcome, father. You made our wishes to come to fruition.”
The bewildered Mr. Arthur Bailey looked at him and asked.
“Your wishes?”
Mr. Phil Anderson, who was so fond of his father-in-law, giggled before he responded.
“Yes, father. We had been waiting for today.”
Now, Freya and the rest who had engaged Nichole in a talk joined them, and Mr. Arthur Bailey dismissed him.
“We will talk more about it, Phil.”
“All right, father.”
Subsequently, they got into their cars and left. Then, Mr. Denise Bailey who was still afraid of the mysterious man joined Freya and her husband in their car with his wife just the way they came. When the father informed him of the change of date the previous day, he called Freya and her husband, requesting that they should pick him and his wife for the registry. Now, they took them back to his house before they left for theirs.
“Thank you, big sister. Thank you, brother-in-law. We appreciate.
“Thank you, Uncle Phil and Aunty Freya. Do mention me to Daniel, please.”
“I will. I will bring him over to see you this weekend.”
“That will be fine. Let him come with his piano keyboard, please.”
“I will. Bye.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Arthur Bailey drew his newly wedded wife who was sitting on the passenger's seat to himself and gave her the kind of kiss he had wanted to give to her at the registry. Thereafter, he declared.
“You are my legally married wife and nothing can separate us. You are mine.”
“Yes. I am yours and you are mine.”
“I will take you to work before I go to mine. You can flaunt that we are officially husband and wife. Did you get me?”
“It is all right, hubby.”
“You can give your colleagues a treat if you wish.”
“All right, hubby. Then I will need to get some comestibles and drinks.”
“It is all right. Let's go to the grocery.”
They got to the grocery and bought all that they needed for the treat. He took her to work and parked at the hospital vestibule.
“Rachael, please come.”
She called on one of the janitors who was around to assist with the offloading of the comestibles while other staff members looked on.
“Take them to my office, please. Have the key.”
“No problem, Mrs. Bailey.”
The janitor did as Nichole instructed her. Thereafter, she walked to the driver's seat where Mr. Arthur Bailey was waiting patiently and gave him a peck, not minding the eyes that could be looking at them, and she reminded him afterwards.
“You know I am yours now.”
“Yes, wifey. Take good care of yourself. I will pick you up later.”
“All right. See you later, hubby.”
Subsequently, Nichole walked happily to her office after her husband drove off while her colleagues and friends admired her dressing which was different from her regular dressing.
“What are we celebrating, Mrs. Bailey?"
“It is my marriage. I got married this morning.”
Some giggled and jested, while some laughed with doubt.
“Is that a wishful thinking?”
“You are funny, Nichole. You joke with sensitive issues.”
She was too happy to notice the mockers and jesters. Then, she joined the janitor in her office, who was still arranging the stuff on the table. When she was done, Nichole appreciated her.
“Have this for your trouble. Don't be too far away. I may need you later.”
The janitor, who knew that Mrs. Nichole Bailey, had her way of putting smiles on people's faces
expressed her gratitude.
“Thank you, Mrs. Bailey. I will be available whenever you need me.”
“It is all right.”
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nichole Bailey needed to see her superior and appreciate him for the privilege he gave to her the previous day.
“Good morning, Dr. Caesar. Good to see you.”
Nichole greeted warmly as she walked into the office of a tall, well-built man of fifty years old who should have been in the entertainment industry rather than the medical. He welcomed her in a friendly manner.
“Wow! If health challenges made you look this beautiful, then it is a good one.”
Mrs. Nichole Bailey who was not expecting such compliment from her superior after disorganizing his roaster the previous day was thankful.
“Thank you, Dr. Caesar. I feel flattered.”
“Take your seat. You don't have to be.”
He watched her sat down comfortably on the visitor's seat before he continued
“So, how are you today?”
“I'm well now.”
“I can see. And what are we celebrating?”
Nichole Bailey, who was hesitant, replied bashfully.
“I got married this morning.”
Now, Dr. Caesar gave her a puzzle look and quizzed.
“Married?” In a dreamland, or what?”
Nichole Bailey laughed softly and explained.
“We got married this morning on a very low-key. I will give my colleagues some treat later.”
“If you are serious, then, I am happy for you. Congratulations.”
“Thank you. Dr. Caesar.”
“You are welcome. Meanwhile, Zoey did not show up yesterday. I had to get another nurse to stand in for you after I called her number and she refused to pick.”
“Oh! I must have disturbed your schedule yesterday. I actually came to express my gratitude for granting me permission to be absent yesterday.”
“It is okay. At least I got someone to do that.”
The Superior looked at her worried face, which he attributed to Zoey's disappointment, and teased to cheer her up.
“If I may ask, who is this lucky man who is capable of taking the place of Mr. Williams Bailey.”
Nichole Bailey recalled herself and cheered up forthwith. Then, she returned the joke to Dr. Caesar.
“I leave the person to your guess.”
“I'm not good at guessing.”
“Don't bother, you will soon find out. Meanwhile, I will send your treat right away.”
She declared as she attempted to get.
“I will be waiting. Congratulations once again.”
“Thank you. I will be back.”
Before Mrs. Nichole Bailey left Dr. Caesar's office. The news about her alleged marriage had spread among the staff members. Some of them were astonished, while some vehemently refuted it.
“In her dream. Who would marry a cheap widow who threw herself at her brother-in-law.”
They laughed heartily, and another person added.
“An aggressive seducee who turned to a nanny to hook a brother-in-law.”
She got to her office and met some of her colleagues, both friends and foes, clustered at the door. She smiled warmly at them and set out to open the door. Then, they gave their compliments.
“You look different today. What is the secret?”
“Yes. I should be because I got married today?”
Subsequently, they cheered merrily over the good news.
“Wow! That is good.”
“Why were we not invited?”
Meanwhile, Nichole responded with a smile.
“Never mind. We will do that during our dinner party.”
Now, one of the haters, Lorene Walker, who was interested in Mr. Arthur Bailey, gave her a hostile look and asked.
“I hope you have not married a man who is close to his grave, Nichole?"
The other haters laughed mockingly while Mrs. Nichole Bailey gave a perfunctory remark
“An Ugly duckling? He is a human too and is meant to marry."
With such statement, they concluded that she had married a grotesque and was hiding him. While they were chatting, she handed out their packs of comestibles to them. Both friends and foes, collected and appreciated. Then, Lorene Walker spoke.
“Now that you are married, Mr. Arthur Bailey will consider remarrying. I am happy for you.”
Nevertheless, Nichole gave a deaf ear to their jesting because they were the same group of people who taunted her often with repulsive comments like
(Mr. Arthur Bailey had refused to remarry because of your presence in his life. Why not remarry so that he can be free to remarry too?)
