Rescued 3

He informed the clients, but they insisted.
“No, Mr. Bailey. We need that brand."
Then, Denise chuckled and asked.
“Why do you need that brand?”
“It was very effective. We have studied how the buildings collapsed, and we feel that the brand suits us.”
“You don’t have anything to worry about. I will visit the explosive arena and find out what you are talking about.”
“It is all right.”
The testimony from the clients gave him the boost he needed. After all, part of the essence of attacking Mr. Stephen Bailey’s resort was to test run the explosive. Now, he had gotten commendation from the clients.
‘The attack also gave me a free publicity.’
He muttered. Howbeit, after Gen. Armand Bailey’s retirement, he applied for the license to be a dealer in weapons and ammunition, and he got it. The license laid unused until Mr. Arthur Bailey took over as the Chairman of The Bailey International Conglomerate, he ensured that Denise picked interest in Engineering, and it had worked.
At 12:30 pm, he rested his back on the swivel chair and yawned. Then, the CCTV captured his attention and he looked keenly and wondered what could be responsible for the uproar at the gate.
At the Gate.
Lorene Walker and Evelyn Whyte worked with enthusiasm and eagerly waited for lunch. They were too busy that their paths never crossed after they spoke in the morning. Now, Zoey had resumed and is standing in for Nichole. With the assistance of the janitor, the work at Nichole’s office was not tedious for her. At noon, Lorene walker left for her surprise appointment with the man that would make her the first lady of the Bailey’s family, without informing her friend.
‘He would be surprise to see me.’
She fantasied as she parked at the gate and honked with the confidence that she was not going to be turned back anymore. Then, the Security Officer who had seen many of her types since the previous week walked up to her by himself.
“Good day, ma’am. How may I help you?”
She smiled at the new face she was seeing, who looked more matured than the security guard who embarrassed her the previous time she came.
“I wish to see the Chairman.”
She hinted confidently. Now, the Security Officer observed her a second time and inquired.
“Are you on appointment, ma’am?”
“Yes. He must be expecting me. Please open the gate. I want to avoid keeping him waiting.”
The Security Officer locked eyes with her and then declared with a mockery smile on his face.
“I see. Sorry, ma’am. The Chairman is not on the seat.”
Just like anyone would be, with a surge of hostility and violence, she got off her car and began to rant.
“What do you take me for? A kid? After the interview, you have the audacity to tell me lies.”
Now, the security had alerted the police, and they were heading to the complex when Denise saw the drama at the gate and gave the security officer a call. He picked his call and stepped aside to speak with the boss.
“Hello, boss. Glad to hear from you.”
“What is going on? What does the woman want?”
“She said she had an appointment with the Chairman. She flared up when I informed her that the Chairman was not on the seat.”
“Ask her to come in.”
“All right, boss.”
He walked back to Lorene Walker, who was clenched by emotions and declared.
“You can go in, ma’am, but you have to submit your phone at the security post.”
Meanwhile, she felt that the security officer wanted to take her for granted and that her insistence had made him to do the right thing. After submitting her phone, she glared at him before she got into her car. Then, the gate man opened the gate for her, and she drove in with high spirit without knowing the location of the Chairman’s Office.
When she got to the Administrative Block, she asked her way to the Chairman’s Office, and she was thrilled when she saw the inscription on the door, and she walked in. She met clerks and other workers who were surprised to see her. Usually, there would have been a call from the security post informing them that a visitor was coming.
“Good day. I am here to see the Chairman, please.”
“Take your seat, ma’am.”
The clerk advised and walked to talk to inform Mrs. Felix.
“Ask her to come in.”
“It is Okay, Mrs. Felix.”
“You can go in, ma’am.”
The clerk informed her when she returned.
“Thank you.”
She said cheerfully as she walked into the Secretary’s office, hoping to meet the Chairman.
“Surprise, Surprise.”
She joked but to her astonishment, she met a high-profile secretary whose office could be mistaken for that of the Chairman with an officious look on her face. Then, her face which was full of smiles suddenly went pale.
“Hello, ma’am. Welcome the Bailey International Conglomerates. Kindly fill the visitors’ form?”
Mr. Felix said, handing over a note pad to her.
“Thank you.”
She collected the form and filled out her information and handed it back to Mrs. Felix, who collected it and said.
“Please, take your seat.”
‘These protocols will soon be a thing of the past.’
She assured herself as she took her seat. Meanwhile, Denise had been monitoring her since she left the gate. He did not wish to alter any of the protocols in the Chairman’s Office, so he allowed her to go through the processes. Then, the secretary forwarded her information to Denise, who went through and asked her to usher her in.
“You can go in, ma’am.”
She said, pointing at the chairman’s door.
“Thank you.”
She said while walking in majestically to meet her Prince Charming. So, she put out her beautiful face and exposing her dentition. To her embarrassment, she saw a Young Master who looked familiar with an officious demeanor.
“Good day, ma’am. Please, take your seat.”
Now, the beautiful face had turned pale again, and the dentition concealed with surprise.
“Good day. Thank you.”
She responded coldly and took her seat. Then, Denise continued.

“I learned that you wished to see the Chairman on appointment. I am sorry about the disappointment. He had an urgent need to travel out of the country.”
Now, the confused Lorene looked around the office and saw the portrait of the Prime Minister, Retired Gen. Armand Bailey of blessed memory in his Military Uniform, Late Williams Bailey and Mr. Arthur Bailey as the Chairman. The man she saw the portrait as the Chairman did not look like the man she spent the weekend with. While she was running her eyes through the office, Denise looked at the CCTV and saw the police arresting a woman. He turned to Lorene to dismiss her so that he can attend to other matters. She smiled and remarked.
“The trip must be so urgent that he forgot about our appointment today.”
She asked, while actually wanting to hear more about the Chairman.
“You may be right. He travelled last Friday, so he may be too busy to remember appointments for Monday. Sorry about that.”
Now, Lorene’s face beamed with surprise. When Denise noticed it, he requested.
“Do you think it is something I can handle?”
She smiled and declined at once.
“Never mind, I will be on my way.”
“It is all right. Once more, on behalf of the Chairman, sorry about the disappointment.”
“Thank you.”
They could not recognize each other again because they were casually dressed when they met at the clinic on Saturday. Now, Lorene who was demoralized walked out of the office with her head bowed.
“Have a nice day.”
Mrs. Felix said as she walked out of the Chairman’s office, to her surprise, she did not respond rather, she walked like a disappointed child. The clerk noticed the same attitude. She got to the car park, got into the car and drove to the gate. She got off the car, picked her phone and drove away. The Security men were surprised to see a woman who was raging a few minutes ago walking solemnly to their office to pick her phone.
‘What must have happened? Who is actually the Chairman of the Bailey International Conglomerates?’
She thought as she drove on she never considered putting a call across to Mr. Stephen Bailey, neither was she aware that she narrowly escaped the police arrest. Now, Mr. Denise Bailey had sent for the Security Officer who drove to the Admin Block after Lorene Walker drove off.
“You called me, boss.”
“Yes. Why did you call the cop on that woman?”
“I did not call the cop, they just came.”
“How? What do you mean by they just came?"
Mr. Denise Bailey asked as he furrowed his brow. Incidentally, the security officer was not aware that Denise was not in the picture of the arrangement by the Constable. He played his part very well to avoid causing any problem for himself.
“They come whenever they noticed that there was chaos at the gate. I think it is the government way of protecting the big organizations from attack, considering the incident that took place at a resort last Friday.”
The security officer’s explanation made sense to Mr. Denise Bailey, who dismissed him immediately.
“It is all right. You can leave.”
“Thank you, boss.”
He left immediately, and Denise got off the swivel chair to the couch for his lunch.
At the Barracks
Mr. Stephen Bailey stood in the middle of the Patriarch’s parlor until it was time for lunch. The Patriarch who had gone to his bedroom to do attend to some other matters came downstairs for lunch and met him still standing and turned a blind eye. His chef served him his lunch, which he had joyously and returned to his study.
Meanwhile, Mr. Stephen Bailey was in the middle of nowhere. His mind wandered to all his mischievous activities towards Mr. Arthur Bailey.
‘What must have happened, to the wolves? Jude is dead, so my secrets are buried with him. If only I know about the wolves, I will be assured that my family will not know about my murder attempt on Arthur.’
