The Secret 10
Now, the dreaded Arthur glared at him with contempt and asked.
“Is that all you have to say, Stephen?”
Likewise, the two gentlemen looked at each other before they looked at Mr. Arthur Bailey whose face had killing intent and looked at Stephen. Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey continued.
“Where are the wolves and how did you get my picture that you gave to them?”
To the consternation of the two peacemakers, Stephen, who was already sweating blood, was speechless.
‘Jude is dead, and my secrets are buried with him. How did he get to know about the wolves?’
He thought to himself. Then, like a flash, Arthur moved from his seat, walked to Stephen, grabbed him by the throat and lifted him the way an angry lion would lift an exasperating dog. Now, Stephen’s two legs were suspended in the air, and he was battling for breath. Then, Arthur dropped him, and he slumped on the floor. Then, he began to slap his face and kick him at the same time. Before the two peacemakers could recover from their stupor, Stephen’s face was already swollen and covered with blood. Just then, Nichole and Phil walked in, saw the ugly scene and screamed.
“Hubby, please.”
Then, Phil, the only young man who could stop Arthur, rushed to him and grabbed him from the back and pleaded.
“Father, it is okay.”
“Take this son of a bitch away from here.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey yelled. Now, the security guard who was at the door had walked into the parlor when he heard his boss yelled. He walked to Mr. Stephen Bailey who was attempting to get up from the floor and held him by the waist and ordered.
“Kindly, get up.”
Now, Phil had succeeded in making Mr. Arthur Bailey to sit down and the two peacemakers who had stood up to stop him took their seats too. Then, Dora, dropped her purse on one of the couches and greeted the visitors.
“Good evening, Uncle Brown and Mr. Douglas, Welcome to our home.”
“Good evening, Nichole. Welcome back.”
Now, she sat beside her husband and squeezed his hand to calm him down. Mr. Douglas’s confusion was minimal because Arthur had informed him earlier that he was married and Nichole was his wife, but Mr. Brown Bailey was dumbfounded. He remembered that at the last family meeting, Denise had declared that his mother was married, but he had not linked it to Mr. Arthur Bailey. To him, the occasion did not warrant him to question him on that, so he concentrated on the case before them. Then, he turned to Stephen who was already standing thanks to the security guard and asked.
“Stephen, who are the wolves that he is talking about?”
Now, everyone’s attention rested on him, including the security guard who was standing behind him. Now, it was not pleasant for Mr. Stephen, who was watching the woman that he had a crush on sitting beside another man. Especially the man that he thought that he would have eliminated and marry her. It was nauseating and to worsen his matter, he was at the mercy of the man. When he was not forthcoming with any response, Mr. Douglas chipped in.
“Stephen, say something and let us get this matter sorted out once and for all. What do you know about his pictures?”
At that point, Nichole fixed a disgusting look on him and waited for his response. Mr. Arthur Bailey, who was disgusted with his presence and wished to see him leave his house at once, spoke.
“The wolves were the assassins who he hired and gave my pictures to eliminate on … The very day he kidnapped Zoey.”
Now, the flabbergasted Mr. Brown realized that he had underrated Stephen. He had considered him to be a careless adult who does silly things, but that day, he knew better.
“We would have bombed this asshole alongside his resort.”
Mr. Phil Anderson concluded within him. Then, Nichole who was anxiously looking at him took a deep breath, sat back on the couch and rested her head on the headrest before she mumbled.
“I was right when I gave her contact to the empty-headed Lorene. Fools.”
Mr. Phil Anderson only shook his head because he knew that he was as good as a dead man. Afterwards, Mr. Douglas spoke.
“Arthur, does this story have anything to do with the police vehicle that was parked at the lonely road to your office on the date you mentioned?”
“You are right.”
Nevertheless, Mr. Stephen Bailey could only wish for one thing – death. Why are things just working against him? He kidnapped Nichole and Mr. Arthur Bailey rescued her and wedded with her the next day, yet, everyone was accusing him of kidnapping Zoey. Then, Mr. Brown Bailey spoke.
“Arthur, why have you not handed him over to the authority? Because, as his family head, my hands are off his matter. I am sorry that I disturbed your peace. I beg to take my leave.”
He stood up at once, as well as Mr. Douglas, who was disappointed in Stephen. To their dismay, Mr. Arthur Bailey did not speak, rather, he watched them leave while the security guard escorted Mr. Stephen Bailey to leave with them. When they got to the car park, Mr. Brown Bailey, who would never take the risk of allowing him to be in the same vehicle with him, gave the Patriarch a call and narrated the latest development to him. The Patriarch’s stand was simple.
“Hand him over to the authority.”
Now, Mr. Stephen Bailey who was in a precarious situation heard the Patriarch’s stand and could not help himself either. Ordinarily, he would have wished to escape by scaling the fence just as he did the day he kidnapped Zoey, but to his disadvantage, he was not in his domain and there was little he could do. So, he only pleaded in an incoherent voice.
“My elder, tamper justice with mercy. I know I have erred, but just give me a second chance. We are family.”
With his plea, Mr. Brown Bailey reconsidered the Patriarch’s stand and set out to take him to his house.
“Get into the car.”
He yelled. Then Stephen gently got into the car under the watchful eyes of the security guard, and they drove off before the security guard walked back to his duty post.
