New Phase 3
After the chat with Mr. Denise Bailey, Mr. Nicholas Fields got several calls concerning Henry’s defunct marriage plans from people like Denise who preferred to hear from him to Henry. His response put their worries to rest because of the confidence reposed on him by them. Sir Taylor, who had accepted his son’s decision, did not see any need to give him a call. He was aware of the strong influence he had on his son, and he would not want to interfere.
“I chose him to sponsor my son at baptism, I should trust his judgment.”
He concluded. Mr. Nicholas Fields was a teenager when he became a Godfather to many infants. To avoid failing in his responsibilities as a godfather, he took time to study the responsibilities of a Godfather and became good at it. He ensured that he kept track of them from the baptismal font, to the crèche, kindergarten, nursery up to adulthood. Before he got his biological children, he had had many Godchildren and his wife embraced them too as her children.
At lunch.
Mr. Denise Bailey asked, and his wife ordered for lunch from Harriet’s restaurant and ate at the office and Denise continued with his work while Olivia laid on the couch to have her a nap. The concerned husband looked at her and inquired, “Will you be comfortable on the couch?”
“Yes, dear.”
“I can take you to the clinic if you are not comfortable.”
“Never mind, I will be fine.”
Mr. Denise Bailey rushed his work and by 2 pm, he was through for the day. Then he asked his wife who was already awake to get her stuff together. When she was set, he took her to the hospital to see Dr. Harper, who examined her and confirm that she was fit. Then, they left for Mrs. Freya Anderson’s house.
Mr. Henry Taylor, who was more satisfied with the services he got from Harriet’s place than his previous outlet, headed for lunch there. He parked his car at the parking lot and walked straight to the restaurant, with his steps firmer than the previous day. The eighteen years old waiter who served him the previous day recognized him and welcomed him warmly.
“Welcome, Sir. Good to have you around again. Kindly, make yourself comfortable.”
“Thank you.”
Mr. Henry Taylor placed his order, then, made himself comfortable. While waiting for the waiter, he occupied his mind with the words of his Godfather;
‘I don’t think you should worry yourself to death because of someone who would wake up one morning and wished to be alone.’
‘Good job.’
‘Put yourself together.’
Soon, the waiter arrived with his order as punctual as usual, and he began to eat. Then, one of the workers who recognized him as the person who assisted them at Mr. Fields house the previous day walked to the boss who was behind the counter supervising the sales and informed her.
“Boss, I saw that man you gave your business card yesterday at the restaurant.”
The confused boss asked.
“Who among them? I handed out many business cards yesterday.”
“The man at the dinner.”
“At the dinner? Let me find out.”
She walked to the restaurant accompanied by her worker and saw a handsome man who was different from the man who was helpful at the dinner and exclaimed.
“Wow! Henry. You are here.”
Henry looked up from his meal when he heard a melodious voice which he was familiar with. He smiled and greeted.
“Harriet. Good to see you.”
“Thank you for honoring my invitation. I hope you did not find it difficult tracing my place.”
“No. I was here for lunch yesterday.”
Harriet, who thought that he stopped by due to her invitation, was speechless. Then she inquired.
“Really? That is good. I hope that you liked our meal and services?”
“Sure. That is why I am here today.”
“Thank you for the compliment. Enjoy your meal.”
“You are welcome.”
Now, Harriet excused herself and walked away while she greeted other patrons who were seeing her for the first time cheerfully before she returned to her office. When Mr. Henry Taylor was through with his meal, he left after giving the hardworking waiter a tip. Unlike the previous day when he was not in the right frame of mind.
At Mrs. Freya Anderson’s House.
Mrs. Freya Anderson was on her way back from Daniel’s school when she got a call from her brother informing her that he was on his way to her house, and he was coming with his wife.
“It is all right, See you.
“Mom, who was that?”
Daniel, who, was at the back seat, asked.
“Uncle Denise and his wife are coming to our house.”
“Wow. Can we get Vanilla Fudge for Auntie Olivia? She loves it.”
“Oh, my son wants to give his uncle and aunt a treat.”
“Yes, mom.”
“All right. We will stop by a mall and buy some.”
“Thank you, mom.”
Mr. Denise Bailey and his wife arrived a few minutes after they got home. Now. Meanwhile, Daniel had obediently changed from his school uniform to mufti and awaited his guests. Unlike other days when he would argue with his parent before he would change. When they arrived, he welcomed them with hugs.
“Welcome, Uncle Denise and Auntie Olivia. I am honored to see you.”
(Hugs)
(Hugs)
“Good to see you, Daniel.”
“Daniel, my Page Boy, how are you?”
“I’m fine, Auntie Angel, please take your seat.”
They laughed at their host’s hospitality and took their seats on the couch.
“Kindly make yourself comfortable. I will be back.”
“All right.”
They responded simultaneously and giggled as they exchanged glances. They were amazed with his level of development. Then, Daniel walked to the kitchen to get the Vanilla Fudge. The janitor who was busy in the kitchen asked.
“What do you want, Daniel?”
“I want the Vanilla Fudge.”
“Did mommy permit you to take it?”
“Yes.”
Then, the janitor brought the stuff from the fridge and gave it to him.
“Thank you, Sir.”
He greeted and walked back to the sitting room and placed it on the center table and announced.
“My treat.”
Mr. Denise Bailey could not help but laugh out loud while Olivia admired the dutiful Daniel who sat beside her unruffled. Then, Freya walked down from the bedroom and was surprise to see the Vanilla Fudge on the table.
“Oh Angel. How did you know that there was Vanilla Fudge in the fridge?”
She inquired, thinking that it was Olivia who served it. Olivia smiled and responded, while she gave Daniel a side eye glance.
“It was our chief host who served us.”
Freya was surprised when she saw Daniel covering his face in shame. She appreciated him to make him proud.
“Wow! That is the host and the man of the house. Keep it up, Daniel.”
“Thank you mommy. Will dad buy a new piano for me?”
They laughed at Daniel’s request because they thought he was being nice to earn his father’s favor. Then, Mr. Denise Bailey remembered that he just bought a piano recently and remembered Jude Addy.
“Do you need a new piano, Daniel?”
The question thrilled Daniel, who looked at his uncle with expectation before he responded.
“Yes, Uncle Denise.”
“It is all right. Let’s give grandpa and grandma a call. They will be returning on Sunday, so tell them that you need a new piano.”
“You are right, Denise. Instead of buying other gifts. Let me call them.”
Freya said and set out to give her parents a call. When their father picked, she spoke with them briefly while others looked on. Then she announced.
“Daniel wants to say hello to you.”
“It is all right. Give him the phone.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey requested, and Freya handed the phone to Daniel, who collected it with pleasure. Now, everyone’s attention was on Daniel, especially Denise.
“Hello, grandpa. Hello grandma.”
“Daniel, how are you?”
“I am fine, grandpa. Uncle Denise said…”
Now, the stunned Denise rubbed his hand on his head and smirked. Daniel, who thought that he had goofed, was startled, but he continued by correcting himself.
“Uncle Denise said you are coming back on Sunday.”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey breathed freely. Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey responded.
“Yes, my boy. Is there anything you want me to get for you?”
Now, his onlookers breathed freely too. They have realized that he was intelligent enough not to disclose his informant.
“Yes, grandpa. I need a new piano.”
“Oh! That is done. I saw you on the internet as Daniel De Pianist, how did you get there?”
“It was Auntie Angel who put me there.”
“Wow! That is good. I will get a new piano for you. Say thank you to Auntie Angel when you see her.”
“She is here. Auntie Angel, thank you.”
Then, Mr. Denise Bailey shook his head and looked at his wife, who was just smiling.
“All right, give her the phone.”
Daniel looked at Olivia and said.
“Auntie Angel, Grandpa wishes to speak with you.”
“All right.”
She collected the handset from Daniel and spoke with the father-in-law.
“Hello, father. I am delighted to hear from you again.”
“Good to hear from you, too. Thank you for promoting Daniel’s talent.”
“Consider it as nothing, father.”
“I will buy a piano for Daniel De Pianist. What will I buy for you, the promoter?”
