The Secret 5
“Yes. I went for my honeymoon.”
“What? Honeymoon? When did you get married?”
“Well. I needed to do it the moment the urge came.”
“It is all right. I hope your children are comfortable with the woman?”
“Certainly.”
“What about your late brother’s widow, I hope she is not offended?”
He chuckled and nodded his head before he responded.
“She is my present wife.”
“Wow! That is brilliant. Congratulations.”
“Thank you, Mr. Douglas.”
“You are welcome. How may I help you?”
“I need your assistance, my son, Denise …. Kindly advise us on what to do?”
“It is all right. I appreciate your patriotism for exposing an illegal immigrant.”
“It is my pleasure.”
“Kindly furnish me with the details of the young man.”
“It is all right.”
“What information do you need about him?”
“I will forward a form to you. Print it out and give him to fill.”
“It is all right. I will do that as soon as I get the form.”
Unfortunately, Mr. Arthur Bailey did not have the details of Jude, so he called on Denise to get the boy’s information. Afterwards, Denise asked the Center Manager to ask a driver to bring Jude to his office at once.
At Sevenoaks
Mr. Phil Anderson was at the Bailey Native Home in the morning to pick Max Winston. Meanwhile, they had kept Nichole away from their plans. The time Phil arrived, she was still in the bedroom and her husband did not allow her to walk her to the door. He advised her to save her energy, gave her a deep kiss before he left the bedroom and joined them. They left the Native Home at once. When, they got to Sevenoaks, they went straight to the clinic to meet Dr. Kadon Quain, who had been expecting them.
“Please, take your seat.”
“Thank you, doctor.”
They got talking after he served them with tea.
“We would like to know your plans towards the surgery, doctor.”
Phil requested. Then, the doctor gave them a rundown of his discussions with Louis before he declared.
“I never planned to carry out any surgery on him. The professionals I told him I was discussing with only existed in his mind.”
“That is good to hear, doctor. From your explanation, he believed that there was going to be a surgery, right?”
Max Winston asked. The doctor nodded in positively. Then, he continued.
“Have you given him any date?”
“He chose coming Tuesday.”
Now, Phil and Max exchanged glances before Phil looked at the doctor and asked.
“So what will happen on that day? Tuesday is just by the corner.”
“Honestly, I don’t know what to do.”
“It is all right. Let him know that Tuesday is feasible. You will hear from us.”
Max Winston concluded. Afterwards, they left the doctor’s office and walked to Louis’s office. The secretary, Erick, received them. He was aware that they were expecting some clients, but he was not familiar with the two men who just walked in.
“You are welcome, Sirs. How may I help you?”
“Thank you. We wish to see your boss.”
“It is all right. Can you kindly fill the visitor’s form?”
They exchanged glances and Phil declared.
“Don’t waste your form. We will wait for him to get off his call.”
Meanwhile, he had called Louis’s line, but he had been on another call. They sat comfortably at the reception and waited.
At The Government Hospital
Nichole arrived to work with Zoey who had been enjoying her ride due to the change in shift. They got off the car and walked to their offices.
“Thank you for the ride, Nichole.”
“You are welcome. See you later.”
Now, the janitor welcomed her joyously and she inquired.
“How are you, Rachael?”
She eagerly waited for her response, hoping that she would get any information from her concerning the meeting of the previous day, but she seemed not to have any.
“I am fine, Mrs. Bailey.”
The janitor responded. Then, she continued with her work undisturbed. After a while, she took a break and chatted with her husband before she checked the family platform.
“Wow! Beautiful car.”
She exclaimed when she saw the post of Olivia’s car. Now, she began to go through the comments of the family members, to her enchantment, Louis did not comment.
“Why has Louis not commented?”
She quizzed and began to scroll up to the chats from the day of Denise’s and Olivia’s marriage. Then, she discovered that Louis, who loved his brother so much, had not commented, not even when Denise got off the honeymoon and announced that he was expecting a baby.
“This is a serious oversight on our part. But Denise visited him last Saturday.”
She pondered for a while and heaved a sigh.
“Indeed, parenting has its ups and downs.”
Now, she was about to tear up, but she remembered the promise she made to her husband, and she calmed down.
“Oh! My husband, he must be having a hard time too.”
She thought, then she sent a message to him.
(Hubby, how is your day going? Please be strong, challenges will always come our ways, there is no doubt about it. Conquering the problem is what makes us heroes. I love you.)
Afterwards, she gave Louis a call to ensure that he was stable. When she got off call with him, she cheered up and returned to her work.
Now, the committee had met with Dr. Caesar and updated him on their discoveries. He smiled and remarked.
“I knew all these. Setting up a committee was to give her a fair hearing and clear any doubt that may arise later.”
“You are right, Dr. Marcus. As a committee, we would like to plead on her behalf to be less formal in our verdict. Instead of an outright dismissal, we can reduce the punishment to a few months' suspension.”
The leader of the committee pleaded. Then the female member of the added.
“We can also reduce her offense to just barging into a staff office and disrupting the smooth flow of work. We will allow the truth to remain within us.”
“It is all right by me, but she had to apologize to Mrs. Bailey for accusing her wrongly.”
“That would not be an issue. I am certain she would gladly accept to do that instead of an outright dismissal.”
Afterwards, the committee assembled at the Board Room that day and sent for Lorene Walker, who walked in after a few minutes of getting the invitation. To her surprise, Mrs. Nichole Bailey was not at the Board Room yet. She greeted the committee members before she took her seat and began to wait for Nichole’s arrival, but the leader of the committee began.
“Madam Walker, you are welcome to today’s meeting.”
“Thank you."
“After listening to the two of you yesterday and conducting our research, we arrived at the following conclusion….”
When she heard an apology to Nichole and suspension for six months, she began to throw a tantrum because she believed that the committee was not fair to her.
“This verdict is unacceptable to me. I am not going to apologize to any simpleton, neither am I going to proceed on any suspension.”
Then, the leader of the committee summarized.
“Well, Madam, this is the best that the committee can do to make you keep your job. The suspension letter had been sent to your mailbox. You can leave.”
Lorene Walker walked out with rage and banged the door of the Board Room. Then, the leader of the committee appreciated the other members. Afterwards, they compiled their report and submitted to Dr. Caesar, and he appreciated the committee.
“Thank you for a job well done. You are indeed a good humanitarian.”
“You are welcome, doctor. We are glad that you found us worthy to serve in this capacity.”
“I hereby dissolve this committee.”
