Rescued

“My son, I was only pulling your legs. We are not putting your mother’s matter on hold, we are striking it out right away.”
He swiftly faced the Family Heads and asked.
“Did I say your mind?”
“Yes.”
They chorused, and Mr. Denise Bailey took his seat with the confident demeanor of a tyrant. Now, the Patriarch who was confused could not carry on with the meeting. He had suddenly exhausted his agenda and would not dare to look in Denise’s direction, nor could he look at the faces of the sixty-seven elders who could read his body language. To extricate himself from ignominious situation, he closed the meeting in trepidation and announce.
“Can someone move for the adjournment of this meeting?”
To the Patriarch’s consternation, none of the Family Heads was able to lift a hand, rather they stole a glance at Denise wanting to be certain that the adjournment of the meeting was what he wanted. Now, Denise checked his time, the meeting had just lasted for one hour and thirty minutes and the Patriarch had called for an adjournment.
‘I can as well move for the adjournment to save time.’
He concluded and lifted his right hand. Meanwhile, the petrified Patriarch misunderstood his reason for lifting his hand and attempted hurriedly to close the meeting without anyone moving for an adjournment.
“This meeting is hereby…”
Then, Mr. Denise Bailey bulldozed his way and interrupted him as he stood up abruptly and announced.
“I hereby move for the adjournment of this meeting.”
He took his seat at once, maintaining eye contact with the Patriarch. Meanwhile, Denise’s unruly behavior was as harmless as the egret’s poop. They smiled and breathed freely as the tensed up atmosphere slacked. Now, the hands of the Family Heads were up, including Mr. Oscar Bailey’s hands, to support the adjournment. His wife who was sitting beside him and full of rage over the manner in which her matter was handled glared at him and mocked silently.
“Now you can say something. Can’t you see how a little boy defended his family?”
Then, Mr. Oscar put down his hand immediately and watched another person supported the adjournment and the meeting came to close.
“I hereby adjourned this emergency meeting to some other time.”
Now, the crux of the matter was, who would be the first to leave the hall? The Patriarch, who felt that Denise may confront him after the meeting, glued his butt to his seat and pretended to be chatting with the secretary. Other Family Heads felt the same way too as they sat back silently on their seats. To their disappointment, Mr. Denise Bailey got up and muttered.
“Excuse me.”
Without waiting for a response, he walked out of the hall and headed for his pleasure car, which was an armored car to the Family Heads. He got in and sat down to give his Security Officer at the Tourist Center a call. He spent five minutes speaking with him, and the Family Heads waited for him to drive off before they could say a word or move. When he drove off, the Family Head who pointed his finger at another Family Head’s nose asked randomly.
“When did Nichole get married?”
The other Family Heads attacked him at once and demanded.
“Why did you not ask her son before he left?”
Zoey could not help but laugh. To defend himself and maintain his dignity, he explained
“I was about asking him, but before I looked up, he had gone.”
“Coward. You knew nothing but to insult and push a fellow Family Head.”
Mr. Stephen Bailey’s Family Head blurted out, and the Family Head rushed at him, but he was restrained by other Family Heads. Then, the Patriarch ordered.
“Go home, all of you. The meeting is over.”
They began to file out one after the other, still barking and yelling at each other. Mr. Oscar Bailey shouted.
“Zoey, get into the vehicle and let us leave here.”
Zoey glared at him and got into the car. She did not relent in rubbing it in his face.
“Can you really shout at me, Oscar? You could not raise your voice when it was necessary.”
Mr. Oscar Bailey who was used to such berating kept mute, he turned on the ignition of his car and drove off ignoring her.

At the Tourist Center
After Mr. Denise Bailey got off call with the security officer, he excitedly ordered for an average piano keyboard. While his boss was sitting in the meeting hall, he sent the details of the payment to him, and he sealed the transaction. Soon, the security officer took the delivery of the piano keyboard from the supplier. He walked to Jude’s room to deliver it. Furthermore, Jude was surprised to see him carrying a big carton because to him, it was odd. He only visited his room at meal time.
“Welcome, Sir. Is anything the matter?”
He asked after he ushered him in. The security officer gave him a reassuring smile and announced, pointing at the carton on the table.
“Nothing is the matter. I have come to deliver the message from the boss to you.”
Jude Addy, who took a critical look at the carton on the table and discovered that it was a piano keyboard. His face beamed as he asked.
“What is the piano keyboard for?”
“Since you are skillful in making music with the piano, the boss suggested that you should keep yourself busy with it for now.”
Jude’s first intention was to leap for joy, but when he remembered that it could be a favor done with a perfidious motive, he became sober as he allowed the tears of misery rolled down his cheeks.
“What have I done to deserve such a gesture from the boss?”
He asked in between sobs. The security officer showed worry, and Jude noticed it before he spoke.
“I thought you are friends? Must you do something before your friend do something to enhance your skills?”
Now, his face brightened immediately, and he dried his tears before he expressed his gratitude.
“I appreciate. Please let the boss understand how grateful I am.”
“It is all right. I will relay your message to him. Enjoy your piano keyboard.”
“Thank you sir.”
The Security Officer left him and continued with his work in his office until his boss got off his meeting and gave him a call.
“Hello, boss. Are you through with your meeting?”
“Yes. How did it go? Have you taken the delivery of the piano keyboard?”
“Yes. Boss and he appreciated it. He said I should convey his gratitude to you.”
“It is all right. I will make out time to see him one of these days. Bye.”
“Okay. Bye.”
At Mr. Denise Bailey’s Apartment.

Mr. Denise Bailey drove to the Native Home, parked the armored car and took his car. He headed for his house to keep his wife company because the week ahead was going to be busy for him. When he got home, his wife, in her usual manner, came out of the house to receive him.
“Welcome back, Family Head.”
She teased as she took her seat on the passenger’s seat. Denise burst into hearty laughter, and she laughed too.
“You came back too early. I hope you did not run away from the meeting when the elders began their funny fights and endless argument?”
Mr. Denise Bailey kept up with her joke and confirmed.
“I had to. Especially when they began to point their canes towards one another. I had to flee.”
(Peck)
He could not retain such pretentious discussion for long, so he changed the topic.
“How are you?”
“I am fine. How was your meeting, anyway?”
“My meeting was fine. Did she miss me?”
He asked, rubbing her baby bump, which seemed to be growing by the day.
“Yes. He missed you.”
Mr. Denise Bailey laughed. He had wished that the baby would be a girl, while Olivia wished the opposite.
Monday Morning.
“Good morning, my Angel.”
“Good morning, my hero.”
He looked at his wife and smiled before he made his request known.
“You have to reason with me this week. I will be very busy with work. As you are aware, father is out of the country.”
“I am aware. I will try, but you will ask Auntie Freya to bring Daniel after school every day. We need to make more videos for our website.”
“Wow! That reminds me, I have not appreciated you for the Daniel De Pianist Page. That was wonderful.”
Now, Olivia laughed and corrected.
“Who says you have not appreciated me?”
Mr. Denise Bailey who was taken aback asked.
“Did I? When?”
(Kiss)
Olivia gave him a passionate kiss and explained.
“Few minutes ago with your great sex.”
He laughed softly and remarked
“You will not stop pulling my legs. I am happy I made you glad.”
Mr. Denise Bailey left for work earlier than usual.
