The Attack 2

At Mr.Denise Bailey's House
It had been several days after Denise and Olivia got out of the honeymoon and posted their picture on the family platform. Louis had not commented on the post nor called to send his congratulatory message to him and his wife, and Denise had been distraught over his conduct. At home, he will comport himself before his wife, but at work, he found it difficult to concentrate and often talked to himself.
“Could it be that my brother is envious of my marriage?”
He regularly wondered. On many occasions, he was tempted to give him a call, but changed his mind.
“He ought to have called to apologize for disappointing me on my wedding day, and not me calling him.”
Then, he allowed the matter to rest and concentrated on his wife, work and the upcoming wedding of his parents. That day, he walked to his father's office to discuss some official matters with him, and his father was pleased to have him.
“Denise, good to see you.”
“Good day, father. How has your day been?”
“Sit down, please. My day had been nice. And yours?”
“My day had been nice too.”
“What brings you?”
Denise laughed unrestrained and asked.
“Father, why do you ask? Can't I come and say hello to my father?”
Mr. Bailey smiled and explained.
“I asked because you hardly come. You preferred to be officious, and I like you for that.”
“It is all right, father. I won't be too officious anymore. All the same, I have come to know how you're preparing for your upcoming wedding.”
“We are on it. As you know, it will not be elaborate like yours. We need just a few witnesses.”
“It is all right.”
“By the way. How is your wife?”
“She is fine.”
“My regards to her. I can't wait to see your brother Louis settle down, too.”
Now, Denise smiled to cover up the burden in his heart over his brother. He was tempted to report the matter to his father, but had a change of mind to avoid ruining his day. Then, he responded.
“I cannot wait for that day, either.”
“Lest I forget. I would like you to forgo PM shift until further notice. Your wife needs you now.”
Mr. Denise Bailey's face beamed with joy, and he appreciated.
“Thank you father. I am grateful. But I hope other staff members would not be discouraged by feeling neglected?”
“Do you care for tea or coffee? Kindly get coffee for me.”
Now, Denise knew that the discussion about the PM shift was over. He got to the pantry and got coffee for his father and for himself, which they took and discussed on some issues – official and unofficial. Afterwards, he announced.
“Thank you for the coffee, father. I will be on my way.”
“It is all right. Thank you for stopping by. I hope to see more of you.”
“It's okay, father.”
He walked him to the lift and returned to his office.
At Sevenoaks
After the team returned from Cairo and had their five days leave, they resumed with new vigor. They held their postmortem meeting and evaluated on the outcome of their business transactions at Cairo. Mr. Louis Bailey allocated the clients to the team members for a follow-up and also give progress report on each client. With this, they were making head ways in actualizing their dream. When his father, the Chairman, went through the report he sent to him on the trip to Cairo, he was impressed.
Meanwhile, after lunch, Dr. Kadon Quain, who took it upon himself to check on him from time to time, gave him a call.
“ Hello, Dr. Quain. Good to hear from you.”
“Hello Mr. Bailey. I'm just checking on you. I would like to have a discussion with you.”
“It is okay. Go on, I'm listening.”
“I would appreciate it if we can meet at the clinic, or I can come over to your office.”
“I hope there is no problem?”
“Nothing much.”
“It is all right. I am coming to the clinic.”
“I will be waiting.”
At the Clinic
Then, Louis got to the clinic a few minutes after he got off the call with the doctor. He was aware of the discussion he was about to have with him, and that brought back bittersweet memories of Olivia.
'So, I have lost my Olivia?'
He muttered as he walked through the corridor leading to the doctor's office. The secretary greeted at once.
“Hello Mr. Bailey. Good to see you.”
“Good to see you, too. I want to see the doctor.”
“You can see him. He had been waiting for you.”
“I see. Thank you.”
The doctor maintained an eye contact with him the moment he opened the door and offered him a seat.
“Please, sit down.”
“Thank you, doctor.”
Mr. Louis Bailey smiled and sat on the visitor's seat.
“You sent for me, doctor.”
“Yes. How are you?”
“I'm fine.”
Now, Louis eyes were already wet, and the doctor noticed it. He went down to business.
“I called to find out your plans about moving forward because I can't watch you continue like this.”
“You are right, doctor. Moving forward without Olivia is like trying to move forward without my life. I will wait for her to deliver, and I will go for my baby.”
“That is good. What about checking out another lady? There could be other ladies who have eyes on you.”
Mr. Louis Bailey nodded his head, in dismissal, and remarked.
“I have never given it a thought, and I don't think I am planning to. Olivia is the only woman for me. With our baby, I can stay single the rest of my life.
Dr. Quain looked at him helplessly and continued after he took a deep breath.
“I hate to say this, but I just have to. Do you think that a woman who would marry another man with your unborn baby deserved you?”
The doctor was being careful. He was planning to say negative things about Olivia to make Louis see the reason he had to move on with his life, but he was deeply skeptical. He wouldn't want to incur his anger by making derogatory comments about the woman he loved. Just as he thought, Louis defended Olivia straight away with tenacity.
“Olivia would not think of doing that if I was not amateurish. Dr. Quain, I pushed her into whatever she did.”
The doctor perceived that it was time to end the discussion, so he consoled him.
“It is all right. I believe that things would work out fine between the three of you.”
“It had had to. Can I take my leave now?”
“Yes, you can.”
Dr. Quain said while getting up from his seat, and Mr. Louis Bailey stood up too. They walked out of the office and headed for the verandah together.
“All right, doctor. I can leave by myself.”
“It is all right.”
The doctor said as he gave him a hug and returned to his office. Louis walked to the car park and got into his car. He looked at the empty passenger's seat and remembered how Olivia sat on it the day they returned from the cinema and how he opened the door for her.

'Innocent girl. If only she knew that the man she trusted and gave her virginity to would be possessed by a mysterious power that night.'
Now, he was already crying bucket. He allowed the tears to flow so that he can have some relief. At last, he put himself together and returned to his office.
At Mr. Louis Bailey's Office
His secretary, Cassandra Owen, looked up to greet him the moment he walked into her office before proceeding to his office and noticed that his eyes were swollen and red. She pretended about seeing it and greeted.
“Welcome back boss.”
He ignored her greeting because he fathomed out that his voice could give him away.
'I thought he had overcome this problem.'
Cassandra murmured.
Just then, one of the team members, Mr. Eric, walked in to get some information from Mr. Louis Bailey on the client he was following up.
“Hello, Cassandra, good to see you.”
“Good to see you, Eric. How may I help you.”
“I would like to see the boss, please.”
Cassandra, who was able to conceal her worries about her boss, smiled as though everything were going on well and replied.
“The boss is quite busy presently. You can leave your message with me if you don't mind. I will relay it to him as soon as he is free.”
“It is all right, Cassandra. Let him know that one of the clients I'm following up will be in Sevenoaks in the next two days. I will give him the details when we meet.”
“Wow! That is excellent. I will let him know about that.”
“It is all right. I will take my leave.”
