You Came Too Late 8

He was surprised when he saw a taxi from the same company as the one he boarded yesterday, but a different driver.
‘I would have concluded that this was not a coincidence anymore if it was the same driver.’
He thought after he saw a different driver.
“Good morning, Sir. Do you care for a ride?”
“Yes. I am going to Church Hill Avenue.”
“That is good. You can get in.”
Mr. Stephen Bailey got into the back seat of the taxi and headed to Madam Ann Princewill’s house, determined to win her back.
At Ann Princewill’s House
She woke up in the morning very elated. She spoke with her husband to be at night before she went to sleep. The marriage was the best thing that would happen to her. At fifty-one, she felt that she had lost the chances of getting married until the fifty-six years widower showed up. Her makeup artists got to her house at 7:00 Am and dressed her up.
“You look cute.”
One of her makeup artists announced.
“Really?”
“Yes. You look twenty years younger.”
“Thank you for the compliment.”
“Don’t mention.”
She said as she observed herself in the mirror. At 9:30 Am, she got into her car and set to leave. Her makeup artist got into her car with her staff and turned on her ignition. Now, the two cars were about driving out when Mr. Stephen Bailey’s taxi parked. He could not tell which of the cars belonged to Ann Prince will, and he would not want to miss that opportunity.
“Go after the cars.”
He ordered the cab driver.
“It is noted, sir.”
Now, the driver followed the cars incognito.
“I don’t want to miss them. I wish to know where they are going.”
“I got you, Sir.”
Now, the driver kept track of the cars. After about two minutes, one of the cars drove into a nearby court and the other moved on. Now, the taxi driver became confused, so he asked.
“Sir, what do I do, Sir?”
“We have known where the first car is going, let’s follow the second one and find out where it is going too.”
“You are right, boss.”
The driver followed the second car and after seven minutes, they got to a traffic light and the car stopped. Now, the driver parked beside it and Mr. Stephen Bailey was able to see the driver. Then, he called the driver’s attention.
“Don’t bother going after her again. She is not the person that I am looking for.”
“It is all right, Sir. Where do I go from here? Are we going back to the inn?”
“Not at all. We are going back to the court to find out who drove into the court.”
“It is all right, Sir.”
When the traffic light changed to the ‘go’ sign, the driver moved on, made a U turn and headed back to the court. Then Mr. Stephen Bailey commended.
“Thank you, driver, for your understanding. Your company have a team of well-trained drivers.”
To avoid appearing rude by ignoring his commendation, the driver smiled and spoke.
“Thank you, Sir, for your commendation. We are not taking it for granted.”
“You are welcome.”
“If I may ask, Sir, have you patronized any of our drivers?”
“Certainly.”
“I see.”
Soon, they arrived at the court.
Meanwhile, Mr. Denise Bailey, his wife and Tim had left the Springfield Tourism and Resort Center at 9:30 Am as they had scheduled. Mr. Sean Finnegan was punctual as Mr. Denise Bailey requested. After the pleasantries, the driver requested.
“Mr. Bailey, where are we going?”
“We are going to the court, Mr. Finnegan.”
“Okay, Mr. Bailey. Which of the courts, please?”
Now, Tim, who was happily sitting on the passenger’s seat, replied.
“The Magistrate Court, by the Missionary Center.”
“It is all right.”
Mr. Sean Finnegan turned on his car ignition and left for the court. They met Mr. Stephen Bailey’s driver, who was about to drive in through the gate, and he gave up his right and allowed them to drive in before him. Then, Mr. Stephen Bailey, who noticed what he did, questioned.
“Why did you do that? Is it because it is a luxury car?”
The driver looked through the rearview mirror to have a glimpse of his face. Then, he explained.
“I did it because of the occupant.”
“What about the occupant?”
“He may be an important person. Besides, this is a court, he may be the magistrate.”
Despite the driver’s explanation, Mr. Stephen Bailey was not satisfied because before now, he was already depressed. He felt that he had not attained the level of success he ought to have attained in life like his mates – he had been left behind. The driver’s explanation would have been meaningful if he was the person in the luxury car. Now, the driver of the luxury car had parked at the court vestibule and the occupants got off. Mr. Stephen Bailey’s driver also parked behind it. Then, he set out to pay the driver.
“What is my bill?”
The driver gave him his bill and he paid. Likewise, he was interested in the occupant of the luxury car. He got off his car and saw familiar faces. On instinct, he opened the car and got in at once. Then, the driver, who noticed that he was terrified, asked.
“Is anything the matter, Sir?”
“Not at all. You can park at the car park.”
“All right, Sir.”
The driver waited for the Luxury Car in his front to move before he could move, which gave Mr. Stephen Bailey a suitable time to see the occupants. Now, Mr. Denise Bailey was holding the car door for his pregnant wife to get off while Tim, who had gotten off the passenger’s seat, was smiling happily beside Denise. Soon, Olivia got off the vehicle and was sending rays of light around the environment with her beauty.
“Thank you, Hubby.”
Mr. Denise Bailey gave her a peck on her temple and acknowledged.
“You are welcome, my Angel.”
