The Love That Triumphed 3
At The Bailey International Conglomerates
Mr. Arthur Bailey got to his office at 10:35 am and his Secretary, Mrs. Felix, greeted.
“Good morning, Mr. Bailey. Good to see you.”
“Good morning. How is your family?”
“My family is fine. Young Master was here a few minutes ago to see you.”
“It is all right. Tell him I'm around and that I wish to see him now.”
“It is all right.”
Afterwards, Mr. Arthur Bailey walked into his office thrilled because his dream was coming to pass. Soon, Mr. Denise Bailey arrived.
“Good morning, father. Good to see you.”
“Good morning, Denise. Kindly sit down.”
Denise took his seat on the visitors' seat.
“Good to see you, son. I learned that you checked on me earlier.”
“Yes, father. You were not as early as you used to. I hope there is no problem?”
“You are right. I decided to go to the registry regarding our marriage process before coming.”
“That is good. It is at hand. Thursday is just by the corner.”
“Yes. But the good news is that we are getting married tomorrow. That is what the registrar told me. It was good that I went there today; otherwise we would have missed out.”
“Wow! That is good.”
“We will be as low-key as possible. You and your wife; Freya and her husband, are enough witnesses. If Louis can make it, he is free to join us.”
“All right, father. What time is it?”
“The time is 9 am.”
“It is good.”
Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey called out.
“Denise.”
Mr. Denise Bailey was aware of what such a call denoted. It portrayed the gravity of what he had to say. Mr. Arthur Bailey was also intentional about what he wanted to say because he would not want to kill off his son's confidence or murder his self-esteem.
“Yes, father.”
He responded, looking directly into his father's eyes.
“I saw the footage of what transpired between you and Stephen.”
He paused and observed his countenance before he proceeded.
“Do you think your action was necessary.”
Mr. Denise Bailey could not decipher the right answer to his father's question, but he knew his stand and was not going to pretend about it. He looked away from his father and explained with emphasis.
“I don't know whether my action was necessary or not, but if any member of the Bailey's family who does not know his or her class, I will remind him or her and damn the consequence.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey smiled heartily and continued.
“It is all right. Nevertheless, you have to apply cautions here and there because you are already a family man. Your family needs you. Sometimes, dialogue works better.”
“I got it, father. Notwithstanding, warn that black sheep. I would rather not see him anywhere around us. What he got on that Saturday morning will serve as a deterrent to others.”
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey had made his point clear and Denise had gotten the lesson so, there was no need to dwell so much on it. Now, he proceeded to change to another topic.
“You are right. So, how is your wife?”
Denise looked at his father and answered with excitement.
“My wife is fine. Thank you, father.”
“And the baby?”
Denise, who looked bewildered at his father, merely smiled and the father understood.
“It is all right. Please take care of them.”
“I will. Thank you, father.”
They discussed on the official matters from the production section that brought him and thereafter, he took his leave.
“All right, father. By the way, how is mom? Her phone was switched off when I called earlier.”
“Yes, her phone is switched off. She needed to rest.”
“Does that means that she did not go to work?”
“Yes. She is resting at home.”
“All right. See you tomorrow.”
“Goodbye.”
At The Lonely Road.
Mr. Arthur Bailey's desire to marry Nichole as quickly as possible prompted him to change his route that morning. After he bade Nichole farewell, he gave the security guards he attached to his apartment and his janitor the following instructions.
“My wife is in the bedroom because she needed to rest. Please ensure that you do not disturb her. Did you get me?"
“Yes, we got it, boss.”
Then, he instructed the chef on what to do, too, before he left the estate. In a nutshell, the route to the registry was different from his office route, so he took the right turn from the estate instead of the left, and he got to the registry in the nick of time. The actual date was on the twenty-eight day of the registration, and it was the next day – Tuesday. From the revelation, he discovered that he was fortunate to have visited the registry that day, and otherwise he would have missed out that week and the marriage registration deferred. After he concluded with the registry, he drove to his office through a different route which did not have any link to the lonely road.
While the supposed security personnel deployed by the government were busy looking out for Mr. Arthur Bailey, the commuters' appreciation got the attention of the government and the security authority, which were all agog. Before the expiration of the fifteen minutes, the three supposedly security personnel were awestruck with the number of Security Personnel who surrounded them. There were a good number of reporters too with camera men who were panning their still and video cameras joyously. Then, the leaders of the Government Team, Security Team and the Media Team walked up to them cheerfully. They had the intention of finding out the Security Unit that was so thoughtful to deploy them, but things went south when they saw the insignia on their shirts.
At The Bailey International Conglomerates
Mr. Arthur Bailey, who could not contain his joy at the discovery that before that same time the next day, he would be legally married to the woman who would make him happy the rest of his life. Then, he attended to one or two things before he left for home to break the good news to his bride.
At the Bailey Native Home
Mr. Arthur Bailey regretted driving through the lonely road.
'If I had known that there will be gridlock by this time on this road, I would have taken the registry road.'
He thought, mumbled while queuing up like other motorists who were waiting for the traffic to ease off. After about thirty minutes, the road became free, and he drove off. He got to the estate and parked in front of his apartment, to his perturbation, Nichole's car was not there. Now, the petrified Mr. Mr. Bailey took a critical look at the spot where his wife's car was parked again, as though he did not see clearly at the first sight.
'I thought we agreed that she would not go to work today?'
Then, in disquietude, he got off his car and looked at his security guard who just walked up to him for a clue, but he was calm and had no information for him. Then, he greeted.
“Welcome back, boss.”
“Thank you.”
When the security guard did not bother to volunteer an explanation, especially when he noticed that he was eager to know about the car, he demanded.
“Where is my wife's car?”
Now, he could not make any meaning out of the information the security man gave to him until he got into the house.
At The Government Hospital Road.
Mr. Stephen Bailey had successfully beaten the security guards on the road to his house while driving with Nichole, who was still sleeping. When he got to his apartment, he drove to the back of his house with to avoid his neighbors who may see him carrying a woman who was sleeping. After he had successfully laid her on the bed in his bedroom and banged the door, he got back to the front of his house to attend to his partner. Low, they heard a loud, long noise from a police siren on the street, and they became petrified. Now, they gave each other a familiar look, which they were able to discern. Then, his partner, a twenty-one-year-old boy, got off his car in trepidation and followed him as they ran towards his backyard. Nevertheless, the estate was encircled by a high fence which made jumping over it impossible without a ladder. On an irresistible impulse, they got on Nichole's car bonnet and subsequently to the rooftop which served as a ladder to get them to the top of the vertiginous fence, and they scaled at once. They landed into the next compound, who had only the domestic staff at home by that time of the day. So, they were able to escape without much resistance.
“There are suspected criminals in my apartment. I wish to escape safetying first.”
He claimed, as he explained to the naive domestic staff. With that, they fled to his resort, leaving the woman whom he claimed he loved behind.
Now, the time was 9:20 am and Barrister Guidance had come to serve him with the petition which Mr. Louis Bailey filed against him, and he came with some Police Men. From the look of things, he suspected that Mr. Stephen Bailey could be dangerous than the members of his family suspected.
'A gambler is capable of doing anything.'
Barrister Guidance thought.
Now, Mr. Stephen Bailey's janitor, who was in the house doing his chores was not privy to all that transpired in the apartment, was stunned when he saw the Police van parked at Mr. Stephen Bailey's apartment. Meanwhile, he was hoping that Stephen was in the bedroom, so, he walked up to the visitors and greeted.
“Welcome to Mr. Stephen Bailey's apartment. How may I be of help?”
Then, Barrister Guidance spoke.
“Good morning to you. We would like to see Mr. Stephen Bailey.”
“It is all right. Please give me a moment.”
The janitor walked back to the apartment and knocked on the bedroom door and waited for a response. When he got none, he knocked the second time. When no response came again, he concluded that the door was locked. Then, he checked the guests' room to see if he was with his partner, but there was no one there.
“Boss.”
He called out, but no response.
