Their Dilemma 3
'Did she escape? If she did, the janitor would have alerted me.'
He pondered as he sat absent-mindedly in his chartered taxi.
“Here we are, Sir.”
The taxi driver announced when he got to his destination.
“Okay. Take.”
He paid the driver and walked to his house while being vigilant with his environment and different thoughts going in his mind. He got to his house and observed that there was no sign of activities for a few days. His car which his partner parked three days ago was dusty. He breathed heavily, pulled out his key and proceeded to open his front door. To his perturbation, his janitor was not around and the doors to all the rooms were wide open.
“John bull. John bull.”
He called out for his janitor as he walked towards the backyard.
“What?”
He screamed when he saw the back door wide open. Now, he was thorn between a rock and a hard place. Should he run to the backyard through the open door and check on Nichole's car, or run to his bedroom and check on his woman?
At The Bailey International Conglomerates
After Mr. Arthur Bailey left his wife at the hospital, he drove to Mrs. Zoey Bailey's ward to check on her.
“Welcome Mr. Bailey. Good to see you.”
She greeted with a voice that was a clear as a bell. Her husband who was sitting on the couch greeted as well before Mr. Arthur Bailey responded.
“Good to see you. How are you today?”
“I am better today.”
Her husband added.
“The doctor said she would be discharged today.”
“Oh! That is good. I can see you are well.”
“Yes.”
She responded.
“It is all right. I will be on my way.”
“It is OK. Thank you for coming.”
He left the hospital and got to work with an untold inner strength. Sleeping and waking up with the woman who sincerely loved him was enough strength. Staying away from other women after the death of his wife was partly because of his commitment to the love between him and his late wife, Rosy. He stayed away due to the fear of running into women, who were fortune hunters. Who would want to go into a relationship to attain wealth. Now, he was madly in love with the woman who had his interest at heart.
“How will I ever pay you back, Nichole?”
While he was pondering on how lucky he was, he got to the gate to meet many cars at the entry gate. He veered off to the exit gate and the security officer opened the gate for him. Then, he asked.
“What are these cars doing at the gate as early as this?”
The security officer who already knew that such matter does not deserve his attention lied.
“We are trying to find out their missions, boss.”
“It is all right.”
He said as he drove in. All the staff members of the Bailey International Conglomerates report for work before 7:00 am. For that, they were oblivious of all the obstruction that took place at the gate, not even Denise. As expected, the police, arrived and arrested the supposed accomplices.
“Good morning, boss.”
“Good morning, Mrs. Felix. Send for Denise for me, please.”
“All right, Boss.”
He instructed his secretary before going to his office. While waiting for Denise, he decided to give Louis a call to acknowledge his message. Mr. Louis Bailey picked the call at once.
“Good morning father. I am glad to hear from you.”
“Good morning son. How are you?”
“I'm fine, father, how are you and how is mom?”
“We are fine. I called to acknowledge your love message last night. We are happy that we made you proud.”
“You are welcome, father.”
“Your mom is as rare as a four-leaf clover. She shed tears of joy after reading your message.”
“Wow!”
“Yes. I also want to appreciate you for the role you played in our coming together. You are an intelligent boy.”
“Thank you father. I am delighted. I have done the bookings. Furthermore, I will send the details to you right away.”
“That is good. But there is something you must be aware of.”
Mr. Louis Bailey's heart skipped a bit. He was afraid that he must have found out about the relationship between him and Olivia. In trepidation, he asked.
“What is that father.”
“Your Uncle, Stephen, the black sheep of the family, had seeped his fingers in a turbulent water, and he will pay for it.”
He breathed freely when he discovered that what he had to say had nothing to do with Olivia. Then, he spoke.
“I am aware of it, and I have pressed charges against him for defamation of character through my lawyer.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey could not believe what he heard. He was silent for a few seconds before he asked.
“Did you do that?”
“Yes, father. Who is he to accuse you in that manner.”
“It is okay. There is the latest that you need to know.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey gave him the details of the kidnap attempt and concluded with.
“Zoey has recovered and would be out of the hospital too. I want you to be careful of your environment and movements.”
Louis, who was listening to him silently, responded.
“I have heard you, father. I will be careful.”
“All right. Thank you very much for the ticket and the booking. Take care?”
“You are welcome. Goodbye, father.”
Then, Denise walked in. After the greetings, and he informed him of his plans.
“Your mom and I will be traveling tomorrow to Cairo.”
“Wow! Why Cairo?”
Mr. Arthur Bailey looked at him and smiled.
“You may not understand, but Cairo is significant in our relationship.”
“I see. How long will you be away?”
He furrowed his brow and scrunched up his nose before he said.
“For at least ten days.”
“That is good.”
“Find out from Phil if he would be free. I want the two of you to take us to the airport tomorrow.”
“I will.”
After the discussion, Denise returned to his office and gave Mr. Phil Anderson a call.
“Hello, Denise.”
Mr. Phil Anderson greeted when he picked.
“Hello, brother-in-law. Good to hear from you. Can we meet for lunch, please?”
“It is all right. But it had to be at my office. My dad is away, and I'm standing in for him.”
“It is all right.”
At Mr. Stephen Bailey's Residence.
In his dilemma, he decided to check on his woman. He pushed the door to his room open and walked in, but met an empty bed. He scanned the room and saw the shattered bottles without his woman insight.
Furthermore, he walked out quickly to the backyard and discovered that her car was not there.
“What happened? How did she escape to attend her wedding on Tuesday?”
He stood at the veranda of the backyard and searched for a clue to her disappearance.
“The janitor must have aided her.”
He concluded.
“I thought she would be happy that I tried to deliver her from slavery and give her a dignified life.”
He shrugged his shoulder, locked up the doors and returned to the underground.
“Welcome back boss. How was your visit to the family house?”
The facinorous Mr. Stephen Bailey ignored him and walked to the bar and picked a packet of cigarette, lit it and puffed out a smoke ring. He did that two times before he walked to a corner of the underground and took a seat. Now, the partner watched him staring into space. He sat back on his seat and relaxed while waiting for his next order.
However, Mr. Stephen Bailey remembered that he had not given the janitor a call.
'I hope he will not implicate me?'
He thought and set out to give him a call. He turned on his phone and waited for it to booth. Then, he puffed a smoke ring again. Now, he saw the message he got from a strange admirer. His hard and numb eye beamed with a snaky gleam as he read through the message again.
(Hi Mr. Bailey. I'm Lorene. The woman who had admired you and wished to make you the happiest man whoever lived if you give me your heart.)
'If the woman whom I love does not want me, let me want the woman who loves me.'
With a facinorous intent, he replied.
(I'm sorry to have kept a queen like you waiting. What about lunch? Your place or mine or any place you chose in Dover would be fine by me.)
He sent the message to the number that sent the message to him and momentarily forgot about giving his janitor a call.
At Mr. Phil Anderson's Office.
Mr. Denise Bailey got to his office as they agreed during lunch. After conveying his father's message that they would accompany him and his wife to the airport the next day, he informed him of his plans to attack his uncle to him.
“This uncle had bitten more than he can chew.”
“You are right, Denise, we will allow it to choke him to death. Imagine what he would have done to mom.”
Mr. Phil Anderson responded with so much disdain.
“I have a plan.”
“Let us hear it.”
Mr. Denise Bailey explained how he intended to bomb his garden while Phil listened with murderous intent written all over his face.
“That is a good one. We must…”
“But there is a problem.”
Mr. Denise Bailey interrupted him when he wanted to say we must leave no trace.
“What is the problem?”
“Father said, no life must lose.”
Mr. Phil Anderson who was bewildered asked.
“How would one bomb a place without lives been lost?”
“That is my dilemma. What other alternative do you have?"
He brainstormed and after a few seconds he came up with an unimaginable idea. He tabled out his plans before Mr. Denise Bailey, who inched backward on his seat and beamed with surprise.
“Brother in-law, this idea is cogent. And the crime will not be traceable to us.”
“You are right. We will set the ball rolling right away and strike when father will be away tomorrow.”
“That is a good one.”
