The Epiphany 3

“Oh! My God. Why didn’t Nichole show me this video before now?”
Then, he sent for Nichole. When she got to his office, she saw a worn out Dr. Caesar and inquired.
“Good day, Dr. Caesar. I hope you are good?”
He did not pay hid to her question, rather he motioned to the visitor’s seat and ordered.
“Please, sit.”
The bewildered Mr. Nichole Bailey took her seat and gave him a searching look. Then, he asked.
“Mrs. Bailey, why didn’t you show me the video of Lorene’s attack on Zoey. You allowed us to go through the stress of setting up a committee?”
Now, Mrs. Bailey heaved a sigh when she realized that he was worried by the internet post and replied.
“Dr. Caesar, you scared me. I thought you were troubled by a staff’s welfare.”
Despite his exhaustion, he smiled at Nichole’s nonchalant remark about Lorene and asked.
“Are you saying that she is not a staff?”
“She was a staff. She had sacked herself. The committee was lenient to give her a mild punishment of six months suspension, but she chose to wash her dirty linen in the public, so be it.”
Dr. Caesar, who was not aware that she believed that the verdict of the committee was leniency, saw meaning in her counter reaction and agreed with her.
“You are right, Mrs. Bailey. I must commend your calmness. She would have rejected the verdict if she was in your position, but you took it calmly.”
“That is why my children reacted and posted the video online.”
“What! Do you mean that your children did the posting?”
“Yes. Who would be happy to see his or her parents made a caricature of?”
“I love your children for such retaliation. By the way, how did you record the incident?”
The meticulous Mrs. Nichole Bailey, who did not wish to disclose that she had a secret camera in her office, told Dr. Caesar what he would love to hear.
“I would not know how my children did it. You know the youngsters can be adventurous.”
“You are right. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
“It is all right. Don’t let her case bother you. You did your best for her.”
“Thank you for your concern. You can leave.”
“Okay.”
Armed with the detailed information, Dr. Caesar braced himself up for any question that may come from any quarter.
At Mr. Arthur Bailey’s Office.
After the unwanted visitor drove off, Mr. Bailey and his children returned to his office and began to monitor the activities at the gate. When, they saw the police take Lorene away, he inquired.
“Denise, did you say she was around when I was away?”
“Yes, father.”
“Why didn’t you inform me?”
“I was thinking that she must have contacted you.”
“I am seeing her for the first time.”
“That is serious. We have to beef up the security at the gate.”
Phil pointed out.
“Yes. Even around us.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey added. Afterwards, Denise excused himself and returned to his office to prepare to close for the day. After he left, Mr. Arthur Bailey, who was aware that his son-in-law had information for him since the previous day, looked at him and asked.
“How are you, Phil?”
“I am fine. I got an epiphany from Denise yesterday. It was not a good story.”
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey leaned forward on his desk and requested.
“Let me hear it, please.”
Phil narrated what Denise told him concerning how he met Olivia and at Dover and Mr. Bailey, who had listened attentively, sympathized.
“That is terrible of Louis.”
“You are right, father.”
“Angel went through hell trying to protect my grandchild.”
Meanwhile, Phil, who left out the aspect of the miscarriage, continued.
“Father, that wasn’t all. After Denise took her to the Clinic, Dr. Harper confirmed that she miscarried the pregnancy. According to Denise, he thought that the pregnancy was his.”
“That is a relief. If Olivia’s pregnancy is from the man who truly love and cared for her.”
“Yes. But Louis is hoping that her pregnancy is still his. What do we do?”
“We will do nothing. He can go on and hope forever?”
Now, Phil, who also had the same thought with his father-in-law, proceeded with his next question.
“What about the surgery? Tuesday is just a few days from today, and we told Dr. Quain that we would get back to him.”
“Yes. I have advised Dr. Quain on what to do. I would appreciate it if you and Max will be with him on Tuesday.”
“That is okay by me. I will inform Max.”
At the Government Hospital.
After Nichole was through with her superior, she set out to return to her office. Then, some of her colleagues who had seen the video on the internet began to crowd around her, and she walked with her shoulder raised high.
“Mrs. Bailey, how did you get the video?”
“Mrs. Bailey, what happened?”
“So, Lorene Walker is this troublesome.”
She looked at the faces of the colleagues who were asking the questions and discovered that they were Lorene’s ally and gave them a befitting response.
“Find out from Lorene, she would know better.”
The disappointed crowd dispersed one after the other. Then, Lorene walked into her office and met Rachael, who was smiling mischievously because of the downfall of Lorene Walker and Mrs. Nichole Bailey’s victory.
‘All her enemies are going down one after the other.’
She mumbled before she left. At the close of work, Zoey walked to Nichole’s office and waited for her to tidy up her table. Then, she got a call from her husband and she excitedly picked at once.
“Hello, Hubby.”
“Hi, Nichole. I am at the vestibule.”
“Okay. I will be with you soon.”
“All right.”
The moment the call ended, she picked her purse and announced.
“Let’s go, Zoey. My husband is around.”
They quickly left the office and met him waiting at the vestibule. This time, he was out of his car and one of the security guards who accompanied him to walk was standing beside him.
“Hubby.”
Nichole greeted cheerfully.
