The Attack 3

Meanwhile, she wrote down his message on her notepad after he left. Afterwards, three more visitors came, and she did the same thing. Soon, it was four o'clock and time to get off work.
The staff members began to leave one after the other, but Cassandra Owen was not convinced of what to do. She had tidied her desk and was ready to leave but was torn between two opinions – should she leave her alone in the office and close like other staff members or barge into his office and announce her departure?
At Dover, Mr. Denise Bailey's Apartment.
He got off work that day, excited about his father's decision to relieve him of the PM Shift. As the successor of the Bailey International Conglomerates, he deemed it necessary to have the knowledge and the experience to head the organization someday. Besides, his work had been his companion all these while. Now that he had a pregnant companion, he was glad to accept the offer. Now, he drove home wondering about the dream he had at the island and his brother, Louis's behavior.
“Welcome back, darling.”
Olivia greeted when she came to the car to receive him. That was the regular practice she developed after they came back from the honeymoon, and Denise loved it. That day, she looked beautiful in her simple wear. Her tummy was not protruded yet, so she was not into the maternity gown.
“Thank you, my Angel.”
He responded as he opened the door and gave her an adoring look.
“How was…”
“Come into the car.”
Olivia, who was about to ask about his day, walked to the passenger's side and sat down before she repeated her question.
“How was your day?”
He shut his door and responded.
“My day was fine. Meanwhile, you look too pretty today and I feel like taking you out.”
“Thank you. I don't mind going out, too. I have been indoors.”
“Yes. That reminds me. How do you feel staying at home all day? Can you come around our ICT department just to while away time?”
Mr. Denise pointed out as he turned on his car ignition. Olivia corrected.
“I am not bored. I am working on my website.”
“That is good. What is the website for.”
“It is for tutorials. I intend to hold online classes for students. I am discussing with some of my course mates who may be interested.”
“That is brilliant. We will look at it when we come back.”
“It Is all right. I am certain that you will love it.”
John, who had been standing at the gate waiting to open the gate for them, opened the gate, and he drove out. Before he joined the road, the scene of how the mysterious man grabbed Olivia in his dream flashed in his mind, and he halted abruptly. Then, the force of the halt pushed Olivia forward that she almost hit her head on the dashboard, and she screamed.
“What?”
Denise released the handbrake lever before he looked at his wife and apologized.
“I am sorry I startled you, my Angel.”
Olivia rested her head on the chair and took a deep breath before she spoke.
“It is all right. What happened? Why did you stop suddenly?”
“I just remembered something. Let us go back.”
He did not wait for her response before he turned on the ignition and drove back into his apartment. To his consternation, she was not angry nor disappointed. He parked the car at the parking lot, opened the door for her, and they walked into the parlor.
“If you need anything, Caleb can go and get it for you.”
“All right dear.”
They walked to the bedroom and Denise got to the bathroom while she walked to the desk where she had been working on her website.
“Is my wife under attack or am I thinking too much?”
Denise muttered as he pondered on the meaning of such a dream.
At Sevenoaks.
Cassandra Owen took a step out of the office just to keep herself busy. It was not a regular occurrence to see her boss in such mood, apart from what she saw with other team members at Cairo.
“Cassandra, it's like you are working late today?"
A colleague who was on her way out asked. She smiled and gave a vague answer.
“I will soon be on my way.”
“It is okay. See you tomorrow.”
“Good night.”
She got back to her office and sat on her desk to avoid more questions. At 4:45 pm, she took a bold step and gave her boss a call. To her happiness, he picked after it rang three times.
“Hello, Cassandra.”
He spoke with a sluggish voice. Cassandra Owen never minded the voice as she went straight to the point.
“Hello boss. If I leave now, you will be the only person in the office.”
“Thank you. You can leave. I will be on my way very soon.”
“All right. I am leaving your messages on my desk. You can check them out. Good night boss.”
“Thank you, Cassandra, Good night.”
Cassandra left with a relief. She was satisfied that she handled the situation alone without letting out her boss's secret.
Meanwhile, after Mr. Louis Bailey got back to his office, he locked the door and wept the more over the helplessness of the situation. He cried the more when he remembered that for three years of their relationship, he slept with Olivia just for two days while Denise Bailey had slept with her for sixty nights and still counting.
After the call from Cassandra, he stood up, gathered his stuff, locked his office and left too.
At Dover, the Bailey Native Home
The Bailey's family would have been in a complete joy if not for the impending grand family dispute between Louis and Denise. Mr. Arthur Bailey and Nichole had been having a romantic time since she moved into his apartment. He got to discover that Mr. Christopher Harry was the minutest enemy he had to fight before he could get Nichole.
There were other silent wooers who Mrs. Nichole Bailey was not aware of because her concentration had been on Mr. Arthur Bailey. They were waiting for the right opportunity to make their intentions known to her.
In all her years as a widow, they had never seen Mr. Arthur Bailey as a threat because the fact that Mrs. Nichole Bailey was a mother to his children was not new to them. They became anxious when they began to notice the unusual rapport between them. Unfortunately, they were not aware that they had registered their marriage process at the registry. One of the wooers was a member of another branch of the Bailey's family.
“Mr. Stephen Bailey is here.”
The janitor informed Mr. Bailey, who was watching the television in the parlor on Saturday morning, while Mrs. Nichole Bailey was sleeping in the bedroom.
“Let him in.”
“It is okay, boss.”
Mr. Stephen Bailey was a businessman of fifty-five years old and a bachelor who had a son outside wedlock twenty years ago. The son had been with his mother and only pay visits to him when it is convenient for him. Though, he had been responsible for his upkeep, but the problem he had was bonding with the son and being stable in his dealings with the son's mother. She had been waiting to see if he would have a change of heart towards marriage.
Mr. Stephen Bailey was a casual lover who believed in a situationship. While the women he had affairs with work hard to make a relationship happen, he was just a sore headed fun seeker who did not feel the same way and his attitude often lead to a breakup. Incidentally, everyone in the Bailey's family were aware of it.
“Good day to you, Arthur. Good to see you.”
Mr. Stephen Bailey greeted with a smile on his face as soon as the janitor escorted him in. Mr. Arthur Bailey stood up and welcomed him with a hug.
“Good to see you. It had been a while. Please take your seat.”
“Yes. It had been a while. I was away when Denise got married. I'm sorry I did not honor the invitation.”
“Sorry, before you go on, what would you like to take? Tea or coffee.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey inquired joyously.
“Coffee will be fine by me.”
“Coffee for him and tea for me.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey informed the janitor.
“All right boss.”
“You were saying something before I interrupted you.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey reminded Mr. Stephen Bailey.
“Yes. I said I could not be present at the marriage ceremony of Denise and his wife. Pardon my absence.”
“There should be no cause for alarm. You are welcome once again.”
“Thank you. And how is he adjusting to marriage life?”
Before he could respond, the janitor served the tea and coffee.
“Thank you.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey appreciated the janitor before he continued.
“He is doing well. Lest I forget, how is your son?”
“My son is fine. I actually went to see him the period Denise got married.”
“I see. You are welcome.”
They watched the television in silence as they sip their tea and coffee. Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey who had no forethought of the purpose of his visit was delighted with his visit. He was thinking of hanging out with him and Nichole before Mr. Stephen Bailey dropped a bombshell by beginning on a friendly note.
“Arthur.”
“Yes, Stephen.”
“You are aware of how the relationship between the mother of my son, my first girlfriend, and I went.”
Mr. Arthur Bailey sipped his tea and acknowledged.
“I did not really bother about the details, since things did not work out between the two of you.”
“Yes. Things were not meant to work out between the two of us for an obvious reason – lack of compatibility, she was not the right partner for me.”
“I see. It is all right.”
“Yes. It is all right. Now, I have made up my mind to pick a wife.”
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey who was joyful did not hide it.
“Wow! That is good to hear. When you settle down in marriage, you will enjoy life to the fullest especially if you are with the right partner. "
