Rescued 4

The Patriarch thought he was standing at the middle of his parlor as a remorse, but he was hiding at the barracks for safety.
‘Evelyn Whyte did not call me for the lunch as she promised. She must have been disappointed when she got to the resort and saw it in ruins.’
He thought to himself. Now, many disturbing thoughts flashed through his mind.
‘When did I kidnap Zoey? These mix-ups are giving me heartache.’
Just as he planned, when the day became dark, he left. What he did not know was that the security agents were aware of every step he took.
At Sevenoaks
Mr. Louis Bailey was elated when he got the response of the Family Head resorting to a dialogue.
“That is good. This will teach him how to mind his business and stop saying disparaging things about other people.”
“You are right, Mr. Bailey. Will you be at the meeting tomorrow?”
“What? That black sheep does not deserve a minute of my time.”
“It is alright. What of your brother, do you think he would like to be in attendance?”
“Barrister Guidance, no member of my family will give him that honor, not even our cat. He must pay for all our demand, and no dime will be short. Kindly let me know of the outcome when you are through.”
Mr. Louis Bailey said dismissively
“It is noted. I will keep in touch.”
At Denise’s Office
He returned to the office and continued with work. Then, he got a message alert.
(Ding)
He checked his phone and saw a mail from his father and quickly read through. It was the invitation to the meeting at the barrack which the Patriarch sent to Mr. Arthur Bailey that he forwarded to Denise.
“Uncle Stephen, you have dug your grave, we will assist in burying you in it. I know that Louis must be responsible for this.”
Then, he sent a reply to his father acknowledging the receipt of the mail before he settled down to think of Louis.
“For how long will this silence last?”
He chuckled and concluded.
“Louis, I will see you on Saturday, whether for good or bad. I must put an end to this rubbish.”
Evelyn Whyte’s POV
After she got off work, she checked on Lorene to bid her farewell, but discovered that she had gone. Then, she drove to the Bailey International Conglomerate for a lunch as she agreed with the Chairman. Unfortunately, the policemen, who were coming to arrest Lorene Walker, arrested her without questions, and she was too shocked to ask any question or contact her husband, Mr. Reuben Storm. She concluded that it was Lorene Walker who arranged for her to be arrested.
‘So she knew what happened on Saturday and pretended.’
End of Evelyn Whyte’s POV
Mr. Stephen Bailey Residence
He sneaked into his house and refused to switch on the light, rather he managed to eat any food he could lay his hands on, took his bath and laid down on his bed. He was too burdened to give his women a call, neither did he get any from them. They resorted to sending a message to Lorene Walker.
(Lorene, dear, how did your day go? I apologize for just contacting you. I had been very busy. We will talk tomorrow. Love, from Stephen.)
He was relieved after sending the mail to her. When he said tomorrow, he believed that after the meeting of the next day, Mr. Arthur Bailey and his family would let him off the hook.
“The highest the Family Heads will ask me to do was to apologize to Arthur, and that will suffice. Coward, he had the intention of marrying Nichole and allowed me to fool myself.”
He mumbled to himself. Meanwhile, Lorene was too devastated to think of anything. When she got Mr. Stephen Bailey’s message, she read through but did not respond. He waited for her response, but none came. Then, he took the initiative to give her a call, but she did not pick, and he wondered.
“I hope she is not angry with me for taking long in contacting her?”
Now, he gave her a call for the second. The phone rang several times, but she refused to pick.
“She must have gone to sleep.”
He concluded and slept off too.
At the Tourist Center.
The Security Officer was happy with the changes he saw in Jude’s composure. His youthfulness radiated as he was constantly happy. The moist that usually gather in his eyes whenever he wanted to speak was no longer there. He enjoyed making music with his piano than watching the television. When the Security Officer got to his room that afternoon for his lunch, he observed that he spoke freely with him; more like a relation than a stranger.
“How is your day going, Jude?”
He smiled and paused from the keyboard before responding.
“My day is going on well, Sir. And you?”
“Fine. Your lunch is here.”
“Okay, thank you, Sir. How about the boss?”
“The boss is good. He sent his love.”
“Oh! I wish I will meet him soon.”
“Yea! You will meet him sooner than you can imagine. Just relax.”
“Okay Sir. Thank you for your concern.”
Afterwards, the Security Officer left his room filled with compassion. He wished he could pull the boss over to the Tourist Center to see him so that he would permit him to leave his room and walk around. Before dinner, he gave Mr. Denise Bailey a call. Then, he was already at home and when the call came, he thought of Jude and exclaimed.
“Oh! My new friend.”
“Hello, boss.”
“Hello Officer. How was your day?”
“My day was fine, boss.”
“Any message for me?”
“None, boss. I called to check on you.”
The security officer was careful not to bore him with Jude’s matter, even though that was his reason for calling him.
‘If only he would allow him to move around.’
“That is nice of you. How is my friend?”
He was happy that he was the one initiating the discussion.
“Your friend is fine?”
“It is all right. I will make out time to see him tomorrow.”
The excited Security Officer responded merrily.
“Wow. He would be happy to see you.”

“Happy to see me? Why.”
“He had been yearning to see you.”
“It is okay. See you tomorrow.”
“Good night, Boss.”
(Cut)
He quickly walked downstairs to join his wife at the dining table. Before he took his seat beside her, he observed that she looked exhausted and wondered what could be responsible for that.
“Wifey, you look fatigued. What is the matter?”
Olivia was amazed by the question. She thought she had succeeded in hiding her exhaustion from him. Then, Denise locked eyes with her until she looked away. When she could not provide any answer, he asked further.
“Apart from your online business, what else do you do in my absence?”
Denise's tone sparked guilt and fear in Olivia, who kept her face down. Then, Denise inquired.
“Who prepared this dinner?”
Olivia looked up and faced him with the answer to his question written all over her face. When she was not forthcoming with the response, he called out.
“Caleb.”
“Yes, boss.”
He answered from the kitchen, where he was doing the dishes. He walked up to the dining table cheerfully. For Denise to get the truth, he smiled and made him comfortable before he tactically asked.
“Where were you when my wife was preparing the dinner?”
Caleb, who was not aware of the magnitude of his offense, provided the answer as it was, while Olivia made sure that her fear did not get into her expression.
“I was doing the laundry, boss.”
“That is good. For how long has she been cooking?”
Now, Caleb was hoping that he was doing Olivia some good, he announced.
“I can’t remember, but she loves cooking.”
“Thank you. You can leave.”
Caleb left with a sense of accomplishment. Olivia looked at her husband who was about to get up and leave the dining table and pleaded.
“Hubby, I was…”
Before she could complete her sentence, Denise had left the dining table and headed for the bedroom. She followed him while calling and pleading.
“Hubby, please hear me out.”
Now, Denise had gotten to the bedroom, picked up his car key and was about to walk out of the door, but Olivia blocked him and pleaded.
“Sweetheart. I promise, I will not do that again.”
Denise, who did not wish to be rough with her, looked at her before he walked back to the room and sat on the couch. She sat beside him and gave him a peck.
