You Came Too Late 3
“Where are you heading to?"
“I’m heading to Church Hill Avenue.”
“Church Hill Avenue?”
“Yes. It is a popular area, you should be conversant with the area.”
“Pardon me, please.”
Mr. Stephen smiled and teased.
“As a taxi driver, you should know that Church Hill Avenue is after the Missionary Center.”
“Oh my God. Do you mind if I take you there?”
“That will be great.”
He got into the vehicle and the driver drove off. Then, he got to his woman’s house and met her, looking gorgeous.
“What are you doing here?”
Madam Ann Princewill, who just got off the dinner table, yelled when he walked into her house leisurely with the security man, who withdrew immediately. Then, Mr. Stephen Bailey, who was smiling from ear to ear with the confidence that she would accept him into her life, greeted.
“Good evening Ann. You look stunning. How is our son?”
Now, their son, who was in the study, heard a stranger’s voice in the house and set out to find out who the stranger was.
“Mom, who is that?”
Before she could respond, the son had gotten to the parlor and met the stranger. Mr. Stephen Bailey smiled and demanded.
“Wow! Tim, you are now a big boy. Come and say hello to your dad.”
Tim ignored him and turn to the mother and asked.
“How did he get in here?”
“The Security guard brought him in and left. Stephen, leave my house, or I will get you arrested.”
Now, the smiling Stephen began to walk closer to Ann Princewill.”
“Sweetheart, I know I have erred. I will make it up.”
Such comments provoked Tim and he roared.
“Leave, or I will make you leave by force.”
Now, his statement shocked Stephen, but he was bent on winning them back so, he continued.
“Son, don’t be too angry with dad. I will…”
Before he could complete his statement, Tim, pulled out a knife from the Cutlery Rest that was on the dinner table and set out to stab him. Now, Mr. Stephen Bailey could not believe that his seventeen years old son had grown into a militant in defense of his mother. Now, he made a quick exit from the house and the security man was attracted. Then Tim chased after him as well as his mother, who tried to stop him.
“Stop, Tim. Don’t create a scene here, please.”
Now, Tim stopped at the verandah as he watched him run out of the estate. He turned to the Security man, who thought he was an important person in the family, and warned.
“Officer, mark him. He is not supposed to step into this house. Did you get it?”
“Yes, Young Master.”
Then Ann, who knew that he must have brainwashed the officer into believing that he is someone special in the family, advised.
“Don’t allow anybody to deceive you. Always ask questions. Okay?”
“I got it, madam.”
At the Missionary Center
Mr. Denise Bailey was pleased with the reception he got from his parents in-law. They had dinner together and afterwards, Mrs. McGregor asked.
“Denise, if you are not in a haste, I would love you to meet my sister. She may be too busy tomorrow to have a word with you. Her house is not far from here.”
“That is a good idea.”
He looked at his wife, who he would treat with caution as though her pregnancy was as fragile as an egg, and asked.
“Angel, can we make it?”
She nodded in the affirmative and said.
“Yes, Hubby. I would love to see her too.”
Her parents looked at each other when they heard Mr. Denise Bailey addressed her as ‘Angel’. Now they set out to visit Madam Ann Princewill. Mrs. McGregor gave her a call and informed her that she was coming over. She looked at the time and inquired.
“This night?”
Mrs. McGregor, who did not want to inform her that her daughter and son-in-law were around, simply responded.
“It is just 9 pm. My husband and I feel like strolling.”
“It is all right.”
When they got out of the house, Mr. Denise Bailey walked to Mr. Sean Finnegan, who was waiting in the car and announced.
“Mr. Finnegan.”
“Yes. Mr. Bailey.”
“We are visiting another home.”
“It is all right, Sir. Where is the place?”
“I don’t think it is far away from here.”
“It is okay.”
Now, he turned on his ignition and drove to the verandah and picked the rest and drove off after Mrs. McGregor informed him of their destination.
Meanwhile, after Tim Princewill chased Mr. Stephen Bailey out of the house, he walked briskly out of the compound to get a taxi. While he was panting and sweating as a result of the run, to his dismay, the very taxi driver, who brought him, stopped in front of him. That time, he needed him badly because he was not in the mood to talk. He got into the taxi and announced.
“Take me back to the Inn.”
“All right, Sir.”
The driver drove him back to the Inn. While they were on the road, he was able to monitor his mood. Although, he was at the back seat, he could read his countenance.
‘He ran out of the house. I hope he did not commit any crime?’
He thought. Now, they got to the Inn, Mr. Stephen Bailey paid him, got off and walked to his room dejected.
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey and his team got to Madam Ann Princewill’s house, and they remained in the car while Mrs. McGregor and her husband got off. Then, they met two police men interrogating her security man, and they stood aside.
“I hope there is no problem, officer?”
“There is no problem, officer.”
“What of the occupants of the house. Are they okay?”
“Yes, officer. They are okay.”
“How did you know that they are okay? Did you speak with them after the last visitor left?”
“Yes, Officer.”
Now, Mrs. McGregor decided to give her sister a call instead of standing and watching the policemen. When she picked, she announced.
