New Phase 19
At the Bailey International Conglomerates
Now, the driver had arrived from the airport with Max Winston, and Mr. Arthur Bailey was glad to see him.
“Welcome to Dover, Max.”
“Thank you, father. Congratulations once again.”
“Thank you. Please take your seat.”
“Thank you father.”
Now, Mr. Max Winston took his seat on the visitor’s seat. Then, Mr. Arthur Bailey inquired.
“How is your family?”
“My family is fine. How is mom?”
“She is doing great. Make yourself comfortable, please.”
He declared and concentrated on his work. Then, Max got off his chair and walked to the pantry to make coffee for himself. Thereafter, he sat on the couch to sip his coffee and chat with his wife and colleague who would be in the country the next day after that, he decided to stroll to Denise’s office.
“Father, I wish to see Denise.”
He announced as he stood up. Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey looked up from his system and gave his consent.
“It is all right.”
Then, he left for Denise’s office. He was surprised to meet his wife there, and he teased.
“Wow! Denise, I hope you are concentrating on your work with this beauty around you?”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey who was on Zoom meeting had paused to receive him when he walked into his office. Then he defended.
“There is nothing to worry about, brother-in-law. I hope that your trip was not stressful?”
“Not at all. I am glad to see you.”
Now, he turned to his wife, who had unplugged her earpiece from her ears and introduced.
“Angel, meet Max Winston, Julie’s husband.”
Now, Max, who had heard much about her, did not wait for Denise to introduce her, rather, he took his seat on the visitors’ seat and greeted.
“Hello, Angel. Good to meet my wife’s school daughter.”
They laughed at his remark, then Olivia greeted.
“Welcome to Dover, Uncle Max. How is your family?”
“My family is fine. They sent their greetings.”
Then, Denise inquired.
“How is my niece?”
“Your niece is fine. She sent her greetings.”
Then, Olivia began to market her product.
“I hope she would be around during my event?”
Now, Denise was relieved because he had to go back to his Zoom meeting while his wife and Max chatted. Likewise, he discovered that the two countries, Dunforn South and Dunforn North, had been at war for the past five years and were impoverished by the effect of the war. Now, they were in dare need of the ammunition from him. Incidentally, the two countries Admirals were not aware that they were talking to the same ammunition supplier. Meanwhile, Mr. Denise would have been comfortable if the ammunition was to defend their territories and not for the destruction of lives and properties.
‘What good had war done to anyone?’
He mumbled. Then, he inflated the cost of the ammunition beyond their reach and waited for their responses. Then, the Chief of the Defense Staff of Dunforn South whose country was more populated but was not as rich as Dunforn North was the first to respond.
“Mr. Bailey, our country had a mutual relationship with your late General Armand, who passed on several years ago. For that, I implore you to consider that relationship and supply at the price we have offered.”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey smiled and looked out for the response of the richer country, but the Chief of the Defense Staff simply said.
“We will get back to you.”
Meanwhile, Denise seized the opportunity to look away from his system and unplug his earpiece. Then, he began to discuss with his brother-in-law and wife.
“Brother in-law, what would you like to take, coffee or tea?”
Max, who was delighted with Olivia’s upcoming concert, declined.
“I just had tea at father’s office. Meanwhile, I am thrilled with your wife’s business idea.”
“Yes, I tutored her properly.”
They laughed with glee at Denise’s claim.
Then, the Chief of the Defense Staff of Dunford North got back to the Zoom Meeting and pleaded.
When he promised to get back to Denise, he gave the Patriarch, Gen. Trevor Bailey, a call and requested that he should wade into the bargaining. Although, he was not aware of the relationship between Mr. Denise Bailey and Gen. Trevor Bailey, similar to his counterpart from the South. He was of the opinion that, as a retired General, he would have some influence over the transaction. Meanwhile, the Patriarch was petrified when he mentioned Denise Bailey and would not wish to be involved in his affairs. To be relevant, he gave the Admiral advice, which he was aware would not be feasible.
“You can arrange for a physical meeting with him. I believe it is more appropriate.”
Now, the Admiral was delighted because he believed that the suggestion of the retired General was cogent, so he ran with it.
“Mr. Bailey, I would be delighted if you would give me the opportunity to have a physical meeting with you.”
Having read his chat, he felt edgy. It occurred to him that he had been riding on his grandfather’s coattail, and he was twenty-four years of age. Then, he braced up by assuring himself.
‘My grandfather was a General with a difference, he can come over.’
Nevertheless, he replied to his message with the confidence of a retired General’s grandson.
“You are most welcome. I will be delighted to host you on Thursday, if that will be convenient for you.”
The Admiral, who was greatly pleased, accepted the offer at once.
“Oh! That would be great. I hope to arrive at Dover tomorrow.”
“It is all right by me. May I know how many people that would be in your team to help me in my bookings?”
“Just the two of us, my orderly and me.”
“That is good. My secretary will send the booking details.”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey felt it was time to respond to the Admiral from Dunforn South.
“I am sorry I kept you waiting, Admiral. I will be delighted if we can discuss physically. Will that be good by you?”
“Oh! That is most welcomed. I will plan on a date and get back to you.”
“Well, I have only Thursday. It will be nice if you can make it.”
