Father, I am Dying 1
At the Bailey International Conglomerates Headquarters
After he gave Mr. Louis Bailey calls, and he did not pick, he continued with responding to Dr. Fidelis Abba's message which he was not concentrating on. Then, he picked up his phone and discovered that he gave him a call fifty minutes ago and decided to try again. When he got through, he waited patiently, but just like the previous calls, he did not pick. Now, he had no choice but to give his secretary a call. Before she picked, he put himself together to avoid appearing desperate.
“Good day, Chairman. How may I help you?”
“Oh! It's you, Cassandra. I dialed your number in error. Kindly give your boss the phone. I would love to speak with him.”
“I am sorry, Chairman. He is not on his desk.”
“I see. When did he leave the office?”
“It is all right.”
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey felt that the hairs on his head were flying and that his heart was on a fifty-meter race. He threw caution to the wind and gave Dr. Kadon Quain a call. When the doctor did not pick at once, he thought.
'Good, they may be together.'
Suddenly, he picked, and Mr. Arthur Bailey was elated.
“Hello, Chairman. How may I help you?”
“Hello, Dr. Quain. Is Louis with you?”
Now, Dr. Kadon Quain was not aware that he had given his boss a call otherwise, he would have coded his response.
“No, Chairman. He should be in his office.”
He pointed out with ease, but the Chairman had shocking news for him.
“He is not in his office. I called the secretary, and she said he left the office about an hour ago.”
Now, Dr. Quain was overwhelmed when he heard that he was, he left his office an hour ago.
“I was with him about an hour ago. Let me call you back, Chairman.”
“It's OK, doctor.”
Dr. Kadon Quain could not believe what he heard from the Chairman. He had always had his eyes on him, and the feelings he had that morning about him led to his visit to his office.
“Where could he have gone to without informing me?”
Now, it occurred to the doctor that one of his domestic staff members gave him a call the day they rushed him to the clinic after he slumped out of acute stress. Then he browsed through his phone and when he got the number, he dialed with anxiety written all over him.
“Hello, doctor.”
Came the response when the staff picked.
“Hello dear. Please confirm that your boss is at home.”
“Not at all, doctor.”
“It is OK. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, he just recalled that he had not even tried Mr. Louis Bailey's line, so he decided to do that. After he dialed his number, and it rang, he waited patiently for him to pick, but he did not.
“Where on earth could he be?”
He murmured when he did not pick his call. Then, he gave the Chairman, who was restlessly waiting. He picked the call at once, and the doctor informed him of what he would love to hear.
“I will go to his house and check on him.”
“I will be grateful if you do that.”
(Cut)
The Chairman, who was already leaving the office to pick his wife from work and close for the day, cut the call and gave Mr. Phil Anderson a call.
“Good day, father. How may I help you?”
“Good day, Phil. I feel you should know. Louis had not been in his office for the past one hour, nobody knows his whereabouts, and he refused to pick his call.”
“This is serious. Father, pull yourself together. I will get him.”
“It is all right. I am going to pick your mother from work and close for the day.”
“It is okay, father. I keep you informed of any development.”
“It is all right.”
Now, he walked out of his office and asked one of the drivers to drive him. While in the car, his worries doubled when he could not think of what to tell his wife. Soon, they got to the hospital and met his wife waiting for him at the vestibule. He read her countenance and discovered that she was worried. Just like Mr. Phil Anderson advised, he pulled himself together before the driver stopped in front of her and joined him at the back seat.
“Good day, Hubby. How was your day?”
She greeted coldly. Her husband responded with a peck on her temple and said.
“My day was good, just like yours, I guess.”
Mrs. Nichole Bailey smiled dryly and responded.
“My day was good.”
Nevertheless, she had tried Mr. Louis Bailey's number several times that day, but he did not pick. Now, she was afraid of ruining her husband's day, besides, the driver could hear their discussions, so, she kept her worries to herself. With feelings of hopelessness, they drove home in silence until they got to their apartment.
At the Bailey Native Home
Before the driver got to their apartment, they spotted a car that looked like Mr. Louis Bailey's personal car and wished like flying out of the windows to check on the car. Soon, the driver parked beside the car and noticed that the car was his. They got off the car hastily and looked at each other before looking at the car again.
Mr. Arthur Bailey inhaled and exhaled. Then, he held his wife's hand, and they began to climb the verandah steps.
“Welcome back, boss and madam.”
The security guard greeted.
“Thank you. When did he come?"
“About fifteen minutes ago.”
“It is all right.”
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey, who was a bit relieved, looked at his wife who was dejected and took her to the bedroom. He pulled her closer to his chest and encouraged.
“I understand how you feel.”
Likewise, Mrs. Nichole Bailey rested her head on his shoulders and cried profusely. Her feelings that she had bottled up for some time came flooding. Then, her husband asked.
“Did you try to give him a call today?”
