The Secret 14
“Who is this poster? And why is she after mom?”
“I think she is mom’s colleagues.”
“This is serious. Did your husband see it?”
“No. I don’t know how he would take it. So I decided to show you and seek your opinion.”
“That is good. Please, keep him out of this. I will visit the hospital and find out things for myself.”
“Can I come with you?”
“You are free. Mom will be at work by noon. We will see her before I pick Daniel.”
“It is okay by me.”
At the Bailey International Conglomerates
At 10 am, Admiral Fabian Jacob from Dunforn North and his Orderly arrived. The driver stopped at the vestibule of the Administrative Block and they got off. He walked them to Mr. Denise Bailey’s office and handed them over to his secretary before he walked back to remove the car from the vestibule. Now, the Secretary ushered him into the office and Denise received them warmly.
“Good morning, Mr. Bailey. Good to see you in person.”
“Good morning Admiral Fabian Jacob, I am delighted to see you in my country.”
“Thank you for your treat. My country is grateful to you. Once again, we appreciate.”
“It is my pleasure. That is the dividend we enjoy as a result of peace in our country.”
Now, the Admiral, felt mocked by Denise. He felt that he was indirectly telling him that his country was stupid by fighting in a war. He had no choice but to ignore his careless talk and began the negotiation of the ammunition.
“So, Mr. Bailey, as we were saying, our country had a mutual relationship with your late General Armand who passed on several years ago. For that, I implore you to consider that relationship and supply at the price we have offered.”
“Admiral Jacob, don’t you think that the price you are offering me for ammunition will go a long way in revamping your health system, educational system and even empower your remaining youths who I am certain are dying in their numbers.”
Now, Admiral Fabian Jacob furrowed his burrow with the attitude of ‘how is it your business?’ and continued with the negotiation.
“Well, Mr. Bailey, allow us to worry about that. Our major concern for now is how to get the ammunitions and nothing more.”
Mr. Denise Bailey smiled and suggested.
“I will like you to take some time and ponder on my suggestion. You have been at war for over five years and you cannot even ascertain when it will end. Besides, you don’t even have the means of sustaining the war. Why not consider channeling your energy into more lucrative ventures.”
Meanwhile, the overconfident Admiral Fabian Jacob, who believed that it was General Trevor Bailey’s influence that prevailed on Denise to agree to a physical meeting blurted.
“Mr. Bailey, there is nothing to think about now other than the supply of the ammunition.”
He ignored his aggression and pointed out with finality.
“I will give you time to ponder on that, Admiral Fabian Jacob. Thank you.”
Now, the aggrieved Chief of the Defense Staff was confident that if he gets Gen. Trevor Bailey, he would influence Denise to do as he had requested. Then, he stood up with anger and at that point he spotted the portraits on the wall. He looked at them keenly and discovered that he was in the office of the Retired General who had a mutual relationship with his country and stopped in his track. He looked at Mr. Denise Bailey who was already engrossed with his device and looked at the portraits on the wall again.
Mr. Arthur Bailey could not help but smiled at the Admiral’s level of confusion. He looked at the fifty years Chief of the Defense Staff of a nation cower in terror before a twenty four years old boy. Now, Admiral Fabian Jacob was confused. He had discovered that Gen. Trevor Bailey did not influence anything and would never do. He simply respected himself and announced.
“We will ponder on your suggestion, Mr. Bailey.”
“That is good. I am expecting to hear from you.”
Then, he left with a sense of defeat.
Now, Mr. Arthur Bailey gave Denise a call at once which picked at once.
“Hello, father.”
“Hello, Denise. I would like you to come over for a hug.”
The excited Denise, who was smiling from ear to ear responded with glee.
“All right, father.”
After the call ended, he left for his father’s office at once. He met his father who was smiling broadly too and he gave him a hug before he praised.
“You have made me proud again. The legacy you will leave in those countries will never be forgotten.”
“Thank you, father. Did I handle them properly?”
“Sure, you did. Keep it up?”
“I am happy that I made you happy. Thank you for your encouragement, father.”
“You are welcome, son.”
Then, Denise remembered that he had not called to commend Louis over the alert he got. Then, he excused himself.
“That reminds me, I saw the alert of the business deal that Louis closed today. Let me call and commend him.”
While he was saying that, he was already dialing his number while the startled Mr. Arthur Bailey who did not know what to expect looked on. When the call connected, Louis greeted cheerfully.
“Hello, big brother. Good to hear from you.”
“Hi, last born. How are you?”
“I am fine. And you?”
“I am good. I called to commend you on your just closed business deal. Congratulations.”
“Thank you big brother. I appreciate.”
“You are welcome. Take care.”
“All right. Later.”
When Denise cut the call, Mr. Arthur Bailey was lost in thought as he wished that the problem between his two sons could just fizzle away. Then, Denise, who had his different understanding of Louis’ behavior called his father’s attention.
“Father.”
He jolted and looked at Denise and asked.
“Are you through with him?”
Denise, who noticed that he was lost in thought mistook it for the revelation of Jude the previous day. Then he showed concern.
