You Came Too Late 6
“In the next one hour, it would triple the number.”
“Why did you think so?”
“At that time, people would have been off work and resting at home.”
“That is good.”
They relaxed and continued to watch the television. At 11 Pm, Olivia dozed off on the couch. Then, Denise assisted her to the bedroom.
“Sweetie. Go to the room, or you would have neck cramp.”
When he settled her in the room, he returned to the parlor to face the young man who wished to spend the night in a five-star hotel. Soon, his phone rang. He looked at it and ignored it. Then, it rang for the second time, and he did the same thing. Mr. Denise Bailey suspected that it must be his mother and that he should be on his way.
“Tim, your mom said, don’t be late.”
“Yes, Uncle Denise.”
“Good. I think you should book for a cab lest you would be late.”
“I am already late. There is no need to worry about that.”
Mr. Denise Bailey cast a second look at him. He noticed that he was unfazed and continued.
“Your mom would be worried, so, hurry.”
“She is already worried. That is why she had been calling me.”
‘What kind of human being is this?’
He asked himself. Then, he stood up and expected him to stand up too, but he did not.
“Tim, what are your plans? Why don’t you want to go home?”
Mr. Denise Bailey asked as he fixed his gaze on him. Now, Tim looked up and saw the unpleasant look on his face and shuddered. Meanwhile, Mr. Denise noticed it. To his surprise, Tim had the same feature with Louis when he was his age. He became empathetic when he saw the fright on his face and asked again.
“What is the problem?”
“Uncle, this is my first time off stepping into the Springfield Tourism and Resort Center, and I don’t want to miss the only opportunity of spending the night in their room.”
“Oh! My God.”
He exclaimed and took his seat. He locked eyes with him and noticed that he was scared like a rat who was face to face with a cat. Now, he put his guards as a Managing Director down and asked.
“Won’t your mom need you at home?”
“No uncle. I will go back in the morning and dress up for the marriage and go to the registry.”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey took a deep breath and ordered.
“It is all right. Call your mom and ask for her permission. I can only allow you to spend the night if she gives her approval.”
“Thank you uncle.”
“Don’t be too sure because your mom may not approve of it.”
Now, Tim was praying silently for his mother not to be a stumbling block to his chance of sleeping in a five-star hotel. He returned his mother’s call, when it rang, he gave Mr. Denise Bailey a pleading look, and he laughed inwardly at the youngster before him. When the call connected, she picked.
“Hello, Tim. I asked you to return home in a good time. Why are you not home yet?”
Tim ignored his mother’s greetings and used his lifeline judiciously.
“Mom, please don’t say ‘no’. Uncle Denise said he would allow me to spend the night with him and his wife if you permit me. Mom, have you permitted me?”
“Tim, why do want to disturb him and his Angel…”
Now, Mr. Denise Bailey could not restrain his laughter when he heard ‘his Angel’. Then, he decided to help the troubled youngster out.
“Let me speak with her.”
In trepidation, he handed his phone to him with a plea written over his face.
“Hello, Auntie Ann.”
“Hello, Denise.”
“Tim is helping his cousin out with some internet stuff. If you do not need him now, I want to plead that you permit him to help his cousin out.”
Tim loved Mr. Denise Bailey when he saw him, but with that gesture, he would love him from the moon to the star. Now, he waited patiently for the mother’s response.
“It is okay. If he would not inconvenience you and your Angel.”
“Not at all. There is a room for him. Thank you, Auntie Ann.”
“It is all right. Take care.”
“Good night.”
“Thank you, mom. Good night.”
(Cut.)
Now, Tim was exhilarated just like Mr. Denise Bailey who naturally love to see people happy.
“Tim. Come and see your room.”
He hastily got up and followed him. They got into the spare room of the suite. When Denise was doing the booking, he was told that all their suites were for family tourists and were twin rooms. He had no choice but to book for it. Now, his money would not be a waste as he would use the suite judiciously.
“Wow! It is beautiful.”
“I am happy that you love it. Check the washroom and the wardrobe, is there anything that is lacking?”
He hurriedly checked and announced.
“Everything is intact, Uncle.”
“That is good. Come, let us book for your wears to the marriage, so you would not have to return to the house for your wears in the morning.”
Tim looked at him and was happy to hear that. They got back to the parlor and began to search for online stores for men’s wears. To their delight, some companies had their shops at the Resort Center.
“That is good. We can take the delivery now.”
Mr. Denise Bailey pointed out.
“Yes, Uncle.”
They placed their orders and in within twenty minutes, they took the delivery of their order and went to sleep afterwards.
“Thank you, Uncle. I appreciate.”
“Don’t mention, Tim. Good night.”

Miss Cassandra Owen had not been herself since she left her Managing Director’s house on Wednesday afternoon. She had series of romantic affairs with him in her dreams and she was able to appreciate that she was no longer her MD’s secretary otherwise, she may goof up.
