Their Dilemma 8
At Mr. Stephen Bailey's Resort.
The explosion left the resort in ruins within one hour. The Fire Service could not salvage the situation. Before Denise got home, the news had flooded the media houses with different sides to the story. One of the media houses had it that the government gave the owner of the resort money to organize a competition for the Buskers. Instead of organizing the competition, he kept it to himself and when they protested, he set out to wipe them off by killing them with an explosive.
Another news was that the angry indigent were responsible for the explosive. Other news had it that it was a grant that a donor gave to alleviate the suffering of the people living with disabilities, and the owner of the resort sat on it. Whatever the news was, Mr. Denise Bailey had thought his uncle who attempted to kidnap and assault his mom a lesson.
At Sevenoaks - Mr. Louis Bailey's Apartment
Mr. Louis Bailey had just returned from the garden where he had sports activities with Dr. Kadon Quain and his friends. He was in a joyous mood when he got back home.
“Welcome back, boss.”
“Thank you, what do you have for dinner. I'm famished.”
“Your favorite, boss.”
“Okay. Thank you. I will be back soon.”
He walked to his room for a shower and turned on the television. As he was undressing to head for the bathroom, the breaking news caught his attention. He stopped and took a critical look at the video while listening to the news. When he got the details of the story, he smiled and said with great delight.
“That was a quick one. I knew that Denise won't reprieve him.”
Suddenly, his childhood life with Denise replayed in his memory. He remembered when they would put up tricks that would outwit their parents to get extra pocket money. His heart clenched.
'Have I lost my brother too?'
Indeed, he had lost two people. His only brother and his lover. He laid on the bed and allowed his tears to flow freely. After thirty minutes of sorrowing over the woman who was once his lover and now his only brother's wife, he dried his tears and came up with a solution; the one that will favor everyone.
Then, he got a message alert, and he quickly picked his phone that was by his side and checked.
(Hello children. Greetings from Cairo. Just to inform you that we arrived safely. With love from mom and dad.)
He held his phone for some time and admired his lovely parents picture, which they took in the very room he was when they came to pick him from Cairo.
“How will they feel over the decision I have taken?”
He thought before he got off the bed and walked to the bathroom and took his bath before he walked to the parlor for his dinner.
At The Tourist Center
After Mr. Mr. Denise Bailey drove off, the Security Officer took Jude to one of the single rooms and informed him.
“This is your room for now. Make yourself comfortable. Do you want your dinner to be served here, or would you have it at the restaurant?”
“Thank you. I will prefer here.”
“All right. That is the menu list on the table. Let me have your order at once.”
He quickly placed his order.
“I will be back before you know it.”
The Security Officer said as he left with the order. For three years, Jude had not lived in a house nor slept on a bed. That day, he was not going to sleep in a room and on a bed, but in a first class Tourist Center. The kind of cars that he saw revealed the caliber of guests that lodged at the center.
“For the first time in three years, I am going to eat without committing a crime.”
He said aloud as he sat on the chair. He turned on the television and to his expectation, the news of the explosive flooded the news and the broadcaster concluded.
(Presently, the number of casualties had not been ascertained. So far, no death had been recorded. More updates will come your way later.)
He smiled as he rested his head on the headrest of the chair to relax, then he heard a knock on the door. He jolted the way he used to do when he is running away from the authorities or hiding after an operation. When he remembered that he was not in any dilemma, he urged.
“Yes, come in, the door is not locked.”
The Security Officer opened the door and a chef walked in with a tray of food and drinks.
'This was beyond what I ordered for.'
He thought before the Security Officer break his reverie.
“Feel free to contact me or any of the security guards around if you need anything.”
“It is noted. Thank you, sir.”
“You are welcome.”
The Security Officer said before he left with the chef. Jude smiled and set out to have his dinner joyously while he prayed silently not to return to the life of crime. After his meal, he took his bath leisurely. When he got off, the bathroom and dressed up with the set of pajamas that was in the wardrobe. However, he said his prayers again before going to sleep.
(I will lift my eyes unto the hills. Where will my help come? My help will come from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.)
At Mr. Denise Bailey's Apartment.
He got home later than usual, thinking of the explanation he would give to his wife that would justify his coming back late, but the comment wife made, aided him in cooking up an explanation. As usual, she went to welcome him in the car.
“Good to have you back, hubby. With the kind of traffic jam I saw on the television, I was not expecting you back this early.”
Why should he tell lies when it was not necessary?”
(Peck)
“Did you and the baby pray for my safe return?”
He asked as he rubbed her baby bump.
“Yes we did. Welcome back.”
“Thank you, wifey.”
They got off the car and walked to the apartment. Olivia reminded him of Freya's promise.
“Freya promised to bring Daniel tomorrow. Are you aware?”
“Oh! That will be fine because I will be busy tomorrow.”
“Wow. I thought you will be at home tomorrow with us.”
“I will be free from noon.”
“It is all right.”
They had their dinner and retired for the night.
At Lorene's Apartment. Saturday Morning
It had been a competition of who had more sex drive than the other. It was a weekend shut down. The television was not on. His phone was switched off to avoid disturbances besides, he may get a business call from the likes of the wolves or Jude which may give him away. As for his son, Tom, they hardly communicate, he was not part of his life. Lorene's phone was on, but was on silence mode. She woke up and checked her phone and discovered that Evelyn Whyte had called her several times.
“Seven missed calls. Oh my God.”
She tried to call back, but saw the message that she sent. Then, she read through.
(Something came up. Let us meet at the hospital by 7am)
She checked the time, and it was 6:30 am.
(Peck)
“My attention is needed at the hospital. I will be right back.”
She informed after giving him a peck.
“All right. I hope there is no problem?”
“I don't think it would be something serious.”
She dressed up, and he walked her to the door. He returned to the room to catch some sleep. He hardly rested when he heard the doorbell.
(Ding)
“Did she forget anything?”
He asked as he walked to open the door. Meanwhile, he was putting on only his boxer and exposing his hairy chest. He opened the door without asking a question. To his amazement, he saw an entirely different face. A lady who was sexually dressed, smiling freely and revealing her beautiful dentition. She greeted.
“Hi, I am Evelyn, Lorene's friend. She asked me to wait for her.”
“She did …”
He wanted to say 'she did not say she was expecting anyone' before she interrupted him and explained.
“She does not need to tell you because something came up at the hospital.”
With her explanation, he was convinced that she was Lorene's friend.
“Come in."
He declared as he opened the door for her.
“Thank you.”
She responded while she walked in happily. Meanwhile, Mr. Stephen Bailey did not bother himself to look at her nor notice her sexy wear.
“Kindly take your seat. She will be back soon.”
He gestured her to a couch and began to walk back to the bedroom. Mrs. Nichole Bailey was right when she addressed them as hawks and poachers. Instead of taking her seat, she grasped him by the hand and remarked.
“You are more handsome than she described.”
At this point, Mr. Stephen Bailey's steps froze as he gave her a reprimanding look.
