Chapter 106: Be Careful
This was Henry. In any confrontation, without uttering a word, his opponent could feel the most terrifying threat to their life.
Bryan was a very confident person. But facing Henry's unwavering, undeniable gaze, his confidence vanished instantly.
At that moment, Isabelle stepped in front of Bryan, pushing him back half a step with her body. Facing Henry, she calmly said, "Henry, can you calm down?"
Bryan, of course, didn't want to accept Isabelle's protection. For such a confident man, if word got out that he needed a woman to protect him, how could he face society? Just as he was about to push Isabelle aside, Henry had already holstered his Desert Eagle and turned to leave without a word.
Even though Bryan hadn't touched Isabelle, and even though Henry had spent a night holding Isabelle, if it weren't for her period, he might have already taken her virginity. Despite Isabelle expressing her preference for Bryan before coming to the café, Henry couldn't stand the sight of her shielding Bryan from his gun. It felt like a slap in the face.
If Isabelle liked him, Henry would have the determination and ability to defend his dignity against anyone. But Isabelle liked someone else. Staying in that room for another minute felt like unbearable humiliation.
He quickly walked downstairs, followed by Jonathan and Daniel. They hadn't had a chance to speak before Ella returned, having just parked her police car. She was walking briskly towards the café, looking urgent.
Henry guessed she was looking for him and immediately handed his Desert Eagle to Jonathan, who quickly hid it. He signaled to Daniel, and the two headed for the door.
Ella, approaching, scrutinized them warily. Henry, worried she might notice something, walked up and loudly asked, "Ella, are you here to catch a thief or to find me?"
Seeing Henry, Ella ignored Jonathan and Daniel. She walked up to Henry, her face stern, and asked sharply, "Where's Bryan?"
"Oh," Henry retorted, "is Ella interested in Bryan?"
Feeling humiliated by Isabelle earlier, Henry was eager to vent his anger on Ella.
Unexpectedly, Ella cursed, "Cut the crap. Where's Bryan?"
"Wow," Bryan's voice came from the staircase, "isn't this Ella? As far as I know, you're not supposed to be in entertainment venues while on duty, especially not in uniform..."
As he spoke, Bryan approached Ella and Henry, with Isabelle timidly following behind him. She wasn't afraid of Henry but was somewhat intimidated by her future sister-in-law.
Seeing Bryan's mischievous grin and nonchalant attitude towards Ella, Henry didn't dislike him but looked at Ella with disdain. To him, Bryan's attitude towards Ella was her own doing. A dignified policewoman dreaming of marrying into a wealthy family was bound to be humiliated.
What he didn't know was that Ella was Bryan's sister.
Before Bryan could finish, Ella kicked him and grabbed his ear, scolding, "You little brat, why is your phone always off? Did you change your number to avoid me?"
What? Flirting in public while in uniform? This was too much!
Henry glanced at Isabelle, thinking: This is the price of liking a rich kid. Do you know how many women he has around him?
Isabelle, seemingly uninterested in Henry's gaze, kept her head down, glancing at Ella from the corner of her eye.
Henry sighed, feeling both frustrated and sympathetic towards Isabelle.
Wait a minute!
Henry quickly realized: Isabelle might be easily deceived by sweet words due to her infatuation. But Ella seemed sharp and quick-witted. How did Bryan manage to get past her, especially since he had already gotten a marriage certificate with Victoria?
"Ouch," Bryan, tall and strong, didn't resist but bent over, letting Ella twist his ear and softly complaining, "Police brutality! Is there no justice?"
"You dare talk about justice?" Ella scolded, "What are you doing here? Get back home and kneel. Wait for me to come back and see how I deal with you!"
If Isabelle hadn't been so angry, Henry would have easily seen the resemblance between Ella and Bryan, indicating they were siblings.
But this time, he assumed Ella and Bryan had a different relationship, especially since Ella told Bryan to go home and kneel. Henry found it amusing.
Ella's photo was on Erick's desk. Bryan was with Isabelle but marrying Victoria. Ella acted like a shrew, managing Bryan like a husband.
Just because I spent six years in prison, the world has changed beyond recognition?
Henry, tired of their antics, was about to leave when Ella shouted, "Stop." She glanced at Bryan, ensuring he was fine, then said to him, "Come home for lunch. Wait for me!"
Bryan smiled, "Ella never comes home for lunch."
"Less talk."
"Yes, ma'am," Bryan glanced at Henry, curiously asking, "Ella, do you know him?"
"None of your business. Go!"
Bryan patted Ella's waist, reminding her, "Be careful!"
He patted the spot where Ella usually carried her gun, subtly warning her that Henry was armed. Ella understood. Before coming here, she had learned from Erick that Henry had at least one Desert Eagle, having taken three guns from Charles.
Ella glared at Bryan, "I don't need your reminder. Just mind your own business!"
Bryan shrugged, nodded at Isabelle, and left with her, avoiding Ella.
Henry didn't want to look at Isabelle but couldn't help watching her leave with Bryan.
Ella suddenly asked, "What are you looking at?"
