Chapter 194: Would You Dare Go Alone?

Henry laughed and played the recording on his phone.
When he saw so many people on the path, Henry suspected Owen was with a major gang, so he started recording.
After listening to the recording, Wyatt and Xavier were impressed by Henry's skills. Despite being outnumbered by men wielding machetes and iron rods, Henry didn't even raise his voice, and nearly thirty men were down in seconds.
Secondly, the conversation proved Henry wasn't overly arrogant. He tried various ways to find out Owen's true identity and his boss.
But Owen and his men didn't seize the opportunity.
As the recording ended, Wyatt was about to speak, but Henry beat him to it.
Henry knew Wyatt would say something diplomatic next. Given Wyatt's experience, his words would be smooth, and Henry wouldn't be able to react.
So, he wanted to state his position before Wyatt spoke, leaving Wyatt to choose.
From the day he took down Charles, Henry hadn't planned to compromise with any gang.
Since conflict was inevitable, better sooner than later.
He was already dealing with Tristan, who was close to Wyatt. If he fought Tristan, Wyatt wouldn't stand by.
Better to force Wyatt into the open.
Either he would fail, or he would take down all the major gangs in Harbor Springs.
"Wyatt, Xavier," Henry said, "I'm not here for your judgment today. Wyatt gave me face the day before yesterday, and today I'm returning the favor.
That's why I played this recording.
Otherwise, I never explain myself to anyone. Before I act, I consider the consequences, even if it means facing the king.
If I were afraid, I wouldn't act!"
These words were arrogant, especially in front of Wyatt. Even without outsiders, Wyatt felt embarrassed.
But there was more to come!
Henry put his phone in his pocket, "I recorded it not to explain later.
I thought if Owen was a greenhorn, I'd beat him back home.
If he had a backer, the recording would be evidence.
Getting Wyatt's call showed he still thought of me, so I let the matter go.
You heard them threaten my girlfriend. I still insist that if their girlfriends aren't in front of me by 8 PM, Xavier, as their boss, notify their families to collect their bodies from the morgue tomorrow."
Damn!
Even the police gave Wyatt face.
Henry's words were like rubbing Wyatt's face in the dirt.
Wyatt remained silent, but Xavier and Peter's faces changed. They stared at Wyatt, ready to attack Henry if Wyatt gave the word.
Henry stood up, clasping his hands to Wyatt, "Wyatt, among the big bosses in Harbor Springs, you're the only real man.
Samuel ambushed me once and disappeared.
Tristan sent people to attack me and now hides, avoiding me.
Only you, Wyatt, can face me and talk. From the entrance to the room, I saw no ambush.
I like dealing with people like you, who face me directly. What good is a sneak attack?
Charles dared to challenge me, but the others are nothing.
Thanks for the food and drink, Wyatt. I'm leaving."
Henry's words devalued the Harbor Springs underworld, especially in front of Wyatt, making it even more embarrassing.
It wasn't praise for Wyatt, just saying the Harbor Springs underworld was full of cowards, with Wyatt barely acceptable.
Xavier and Peter were trembling with anger, staring at Wyatt.
"Wait." Wyatt calmly asked Henry, "Brother Henry, what must I do for you to spare Owen and his men?"
Xavier and Peter were stunned: Is this still Wyatt?
Henry said, "Blame lies with the instigator. If Owen had told the truth, it would be fine. But he lied to you, clearly trying to sow discord.
Targeting me is normal, but deceiving you isn't right.
As bosses, you won't punish him, so I must continue teaching him.
Who knows what trouble he'll cause you in the future."
"Sorry, Brother Henry." Wyatt stood and bowed to Henry, "I apologize on behalf of Owen and his men. Please show mercy.
If you want women, pick anyone you like. I'll have her sent to you tonight."
Wow!
For Wyatt to say this was like kneeling to Henry.
Xavier and Peter were furious.
Henry didn't expect Wyatt to be so submissive.
But he quickly realized Wyatt wasn't submissive but shrewd, emotionally intelligent, and cunning.
If Wyatt were truly submissive, he wouldn't have dominated Harbor Springs for decades.
Today, Wyatt conceded, showing two possibilities: either he wasn't ready or he was fully prepared, using this as a delaying tactic to catch Henry off guard.
If Wyatt acted, Henry believed it would be to eliminate him.
But since Wyatt could endure humiliation, Henry didn't want to give him an excuse. He still wanted to establish himself in Harbor Springs.
To be the top boss, he needed to show greater magnanimity than Wyatt.
Henry nodded, clasping his hands again, "Wyatt, since you said that, it's settled. If you need me, just call.
I'll be off."
Hearing Henry enter the elevator, Xavier and Peter remained silent.
Wyatt smiled, "Do you think he came to negotiate?"
They remained silent.
Wyatt continued, "If you injured Charles's men and he invited you for tea, would you go alone?"
Xavier blurted, "Why not? It's just a life."
Wyatt smiled, "So, he came ready to die."
