Chapter 30: Rudeness
Although Emily didn't say anything, Andrew knew that she had developed a strong interest in Henry's past.
Sitting next to Emily, Andrew continued, "I have to say, Henry's parents' genes are really something. He not only grew up to be handsome but also incredibly smart.
The young aunts and uncles would fight to hold him, seeing his chubby and fair appearance, they all wanted to take a bite out of his face.
Because my mom didn't have breast milk, many young wives in the village would compete to feed him.
Later on, his personality became unpredictable and strange. Sometimes wise and intelligent, other times wild and rough. Looking back now, it's probably because he had been breastfed by many different women.
Those young wives all had different temperaments, and each one of them had some influence on him, to a greater or lesser extent..."
Emily intended to let Andrew continue at his own pace, but she also didn't know when Henry might suddenly return.
Andrew was a good storyteller, and if left to his own devices, he could probably talk for three days and three nights.
"Why don't you tell me then, why did he commit murder?" Emily interjected expressionlessly.
Andrew nodded and said, "At that time, I was already in college, and I only heard about the specifics later from people in the village.
Because I was away at college and Henry was attending high school in the county, he didn't come home often, leaving only my mother alone at home.
I'm not sure if it was true or if someone deliberately caused trouble, but there were rumors that the former village chief had an affair with my mother.
Henry used to only come back to the village on weekends, but for some reason, he returned on a Wednesday afternoon.
When he got home, he saw the village chief at our house.
Perhaps he had encountered someone on the way back who hinted at something to him, either directly or indirectly.
After seeing the village chief, he immediately started punching and kicking him, not only knocking the village chief to the ground but also grabbing a kitchen knife, intending to chop off the village chief's private parts."
At this point, Andrew's body involuntarily tensed up, and Emily shuddered.
"Later, my mother desperately hugged him. When he swung the knife, he ended up chopping off a third of the village chief's private parts and also leaving a long gash on his leg.
The village chief endured the intense pain and ran outside, but he tripped at the doorstep and has been partially paralyzed ever since.
Because of this incident, Henry was sentenced to six years in prison."
Emily asked, "So, did your mother really have a relationship with the village chief?"
Andrew shook his head and said, "Definitely not. My mother is a very decent person, despite being beautiful, she has always kept herself pure.
They say there's a lot of gossip surrounding widows, and on top of that, the village chief probably offended many people, so there were those who instigated Henry in secret."
Emily nodded, unaware that Andrew had just told a colossal lie in this matter.
Not only did Andrew know about the relationship between his mother and the village chief, but he had also witnessed them engaging in such activities together on more than one occasion.
This had caused him severe psychological trauma.
He was well aware that their family was poor, and every time the village chief visited, he would give his mother a card.
When Andrew got accepted to college, not only did the village chief help him secure a scholarship for impoverished students, but he also gave him ten thousand dollars for his first year's tuition and living expenses.
And when Andrew received the ten thousand dollars from the village chief, even more selfish, despicable, and dirty thoughts crossed his mind: What if my mom had a few more men? Wouldn't I get more money?
When Henry heard this news from Lisa, he rushed back from high school.
If it weren't for his stepmother desperately holding him back, the village chief would probably have been killed by him.
It was precisely because of this that in Andrew's subconscious, he viewed such intimate acts between men and women as a sin, which is why his performance with Emily was always lacking.
Emily had always thought it was due to his kidney problems, but in reality, it was his psychological issues.
Andrew continued, "Because of my mother's situation, Henry is particularly sensitive about the relationships between men and women, especially those improper ones.
He was so young when he went to prison and never had much interaction with women.
I know you care about him as his sister-in-law, but I'm afraid he might misunderstand your intentions.
You should have noticed that although he doesn't want to call me his brother, he is willing to stand up for me.
Because of my mother's situation, he is strongly against women being unfaithful, while at the same time, he doesn't allow anyone to insult my mother.
The main reason he went after the girl from the gang so aggressively was because she insulted my mother, and I couldn't stop him.
In addition, I was quite weak when I was young, and Henry once said that he would protect me like Wu Song protected his brother..."
No wonder!
Just as Emily was about to say something, the phone suddenly rang.
