Chapter 140: Can’t Stay Here Anymore
It was late at night, and Henry’s eyelids were heavy. Just as he drifted off, he smelled a familiar fragrance.
Oh no, it was Emily’s scent!
It must be that Andrew had fallen asleep, and Emily had sneaked into the room.
Henry had thought of going to the living room several times, pretending to go to the bathroom, just to see Emily sleeping. But he worried she would think less of him or that he might wake Andrew, so he never acted on it.
He never imagined Emily would be bold enough to come in herself. She must have been deeply hurt by Andrew, as Henry had predicted.
Henry pretended to be asleep.
But Emily, after slipping into his bed, pressed her face against his chest and gently caressed his face in the dark.
Henry couldn’t keep pretending. He turned his head and saw Emily smiling shyly at him in the dark.
For years, Henry had dreamed of this day. If it weren’t for Isabelle’s period, she might have already fulfilled his wish. Although Isabelle’s youthful charm drove Henry wild with anticipation, Emily’s beauty and figure surpassed hers.
Despite Isabelle’s fair skin, it had a yellowish undertone. Emily’s skin was truly white, even glowing in the dark.
Henry had many concerns, but with Emily already in his bed, her soft and fragrant body was too much to resist. Pretending any longer would be unmanly.
Henry steeled himself and rolled on top of Emily...
No matter how long the pleasure, it always feels fleeting to those enjoying it.
Henry felt it ended too quickly. He hadn’t fully savored the joy before a shiver ran through him, and he opened his eyes to find Emily gone. It had all been a dream!
To make things worse, his new shorts were stained.
He quickly took off the shorts, tossed them by the bed, and found a new pair in the wardrobe.
He thought of checking the living room but decided against it.
It was almost 10 AM when Henry woke up to the sun warming his back.
His first task was to wash the shorts from last night.
But when he looked down, they were gone. He couldn’t find them anywhere.
On the balcony, he saw his shorts hanging on the drying rack.
How embarrassing!
It must have been Emily who took them to wash in the morning. As a married woman, she would know what the stains were and probably guessed they were because of her.
Henry felt he couldn’t face Emily anymore.
Emily had bought breakfast as usual. After Andrew ate, he asked her to come to work with him, but she didn’t move.
Andrew understood she didn’t want to ride with him and awkwardly left alone.
Emily opened Henry’s door to wake him for breakfast but found him snoring. She felt a bit guilty but then saw the shorts on the floor.
She wondered why they were there, thinking he had changed last night.
When she picked them up, she realized what had happened.
As Henry later guessed, Emily thought it was because of her that he had stained the shorts.
She washed them and hung them to dry but then regretted it. By washing them, she had essentially told Henry she knew about the stains.
It was too late to undo it.
Emily thought: Maybe it’s for the best. He saw my body yesterday, and today I saw his secret. It might help our future relationship.
But she didn’t know what their relationship would become. One thing was certain: she couldn’t stay with Andrew anymore!
Henry stared at his shorts for a long time, then decided to leave.
He took a taxi to the bar and found Victoria already there.
Normally, the bar only operated in the afternoon and evening, so only administrative and procurement staff needed to be there in the morning. Other staff could arrive by 1:30 PM.
“Good morning, Henry!”
Victoria, overseeing the cleaning, respectfully bowed to Henry.
“Victoria,” Henry asked, “You mentioned you have an empty apartment?”
“I have two,” Victoria replied.
“Where are they?”
“One I bought across from Harbor Springs University, near the affiliated middle and elementary schools, called Supreme Academy. Charles also lives there. The other one…”
Henry interrupted, “Can I rent the one at Supreme Academy?”
Victoria immediately pulled out a key from her pocket and handed it to Henry.
“How much per month?” Henry asked.
Victoria smiled, “We both don’t care about the money. If I insisted on no rent, you wouldn’t accept it. Just pay what you think is fair.”
Henry nodded, “Is there anything in the apartment you need urgently?”
Victoria said, “I’ll go home and tidy up later, and leave the rest of the keys there. Since I have another place, I don’t stay there often. You can stay as long as you need.”
Henry chose this apartment because it was across from Harbor Springs University, allowing him to see Emily daily and giving him more opportunities to get close to Avery.
He worried Victoria might misunderstand his intentions, but her words showed she was smart enough to avoid any awkwardness.
Henry handed her his ID and bank card, “If you’re going home, please stop by the hospital and handle my discharge.”
Victoria had promised to be helpful, and Henry wanted to show his trust by renting her apartment and asking her to handle personal matters.
Victoria agreed, took his ID and bank card, and drove off.
Henry went to the second-floor office and found Brandon already there, with Vanessa explaining the accounts to him.
Seeing Henry, Vanessa blushed and respectfully greeted, “Good morning, Henry!”
