Chapter 136: Scent

"Henry," Emily suddenly called out.

Henry shivered at the sound.

"Are you staying home tonight?"

Henry turned halfway, awkwardly smiling, "I've finished my IV. I'll be discharged tomorrow morning."

"Then why don't you take a shower first? I need to do the laundry later."

"Okay!"

Henry went straight to the bathroom, quickly undressing and turning on the shower. As he showered, he relived the moment of colliding with Emily, the softness of her chest, and the scent from her neck, which made him feel invigorated and excited. Their mutual glances, meeting each other's eyes, revealed their feelings.

Caught up in his excitement, Henry forgot he didn't have any clean clothes, towels, or toiletries, all of which were still at the hospital. Emily realized this and went to Henry's wardrobe, pulling out a pair of shorts from a pack she bought yesterday and a T-shirt. She took them to the bathroom door.

"Henry, your clean clothes are at the door," she said. Remembering he might not want to use Andrew's things, she added, "The pink towel is mine, and the white shampoo and red body wash are mine too. You can use them."

She then returned to the guest bedroom to continue mopping.

Henry opened the door, took the T-shirt and shorts, and grabbed Emily's towel from the rack, which smelled like her. Using her shampoo and body wash, he felt a sense of closeness to her. After his shower, he found the clothes fit perfectly, appreciating Emily's thoughtfulness.

As he opened the door, he couldn't help but think of Andrew, which dampened his mood. He took his dirty clothes to the balcony and put them in the washing machine. Emily, done with the floor, went to the bathroom with her clean clothes.

Wait! Henry realized he had accidentally left Emily's towel in the bathroom. He rushed to the bathroom door and pushed it open, only to be stunned.

Emily was already in the shower, her back to the door. Her pale skin made the bathroom seem dim in comparison. Her tall, mature figure glowed under the light, with water droplets dancing on her skin, turning into pearls.

Henry's body reacted instantly. He quietly placed the towel on the sink and closed the door. Even with careful movements, the door made a sound. Emily turned quickly but saw the door was closed. She noticed her towel on the sink and frowned. She didn't remember seeing it there before her shower.

Emily checked the door handle, realizing she hadn't locked it. She hesitated but decided not to lock it. She picked up the towel, noticing Henry's scent on it, which made her feel a rush of excitement. Unlike Andrew's smell, which made her nauseous, Henry's scent was intoxicating.

Humans, like animals, are often attracted by scents. If you like someone, their scent, no matter how others perceive it, will be sweet to you. Conversely, if you dislike someone, even their perfume can smell repulsive.

Emily realized she liked Henry's scent, which she hadn't noticed before. Did Henry like her scent too? Thinking Henry must have seen her body when he brought the towel, she blushed. Using the towel, she admired her body, imagining Henry's reaction, and couldn't help but giggle.

After her shower, Emily saw Henry lying on the bed with his phone, the door now open. She went to the balcony, took Henry's dirty clothes, and smelled them, finding the scent strong but sweet. She hand-washed their clothes together, using the washing machine for Andrew's clothes, then put their clothes in the machine for rinsing.

Henry found Emily's scent intoxicating and didn't want to mix it with Andrew's. After hanging the clothes to dry, Emily returned to her room to apply light makeup, something she hadn't done since getting married. She scrutinized herself in the mirror, ensuring she looked perfect, then, trying to appear casual, walked towards Henry's room.
