Chapter 129: She Wants to Work

After Kevin hung up the phone, he dialed Ruby's number.
"Ruby, I heard that Henry not only took over Erick's bar but also took his portable hard drive, which seems to contain a lot of important information. Can you talk to him and suggest that he destroy the contents of the hard drive? Those things are definitely harmful and not beneficial to anyone!"
Ruby understood that Kevin, by not asking who was behind Henry and directly asking her to speak to Henry, had already realized something.
There was no need to argue about it anymore.
"Sure, I'll talk to him."
She didn't respond like an ordinary woman might, with a question like, "Are there any of your things in there?" If she used such a tactic to test Kevin, she wouldn't be the Ruby she was today.
After Erick called Jason, not only did he fail to achieve his goal, but he also thoroughly offended Jason.
He didn't reflect on his own intelligence but blamed everything on the troublemaker, Henry!
He then called Ryan, telling him that Henry had injured someone at the hospital entrance and asking if he could have Henry arrested.
Ryan asked, "Was it a murder or did he cripple someone?"
"No!"
Ryan said, "In that case, what's the point of arresting him?"
Erick said, "Regardless, arrest him and teach him a lesson. At least don't let him think that Harbor Springs is lawless, or he'll become too arrogant! He even wants me to leave Harbor Springs now. And I heard he used a gun to injure Zachary at noon and gave your brother-in-law a hard time. If you don't take action, people will think you're a pushover. Don't forget, you're one of the four young masters of Harbor Springs. How come you've lost your edge after putting on the uniform?"
Ryan smirked, "Don't try to provoke me. I mean, if Henry is that tough, this little matter won't bother him."
"Is using a gun a small matter?"
"Then let Zachary file a report!"
There's an unspoken rule in the underworld: when both sides clash, they settle it themselves, using whatever forces they can muster, but never involving the police. After all, neither side is clean, and if it goes to the police, their own crimes might be even worse than their opponent's.
Moreover, dealing with an outsider like Henry through the police would make them a laughingstock among their peers.
Furthermore, outsiders have no criminal records, while the local big shots' records could land them in prison for life.
So, whether it's Charles or Samuel's men, even if they're shot, they won't report it.
Since Zachary didn't report his injury, the police couldn't do anything to Henry.
Erick sighed, "Brother Ming, if you can swallow this, I have nothing to say!"
Ryan laughed, "Why wouldn't I? My dad's been retired for years, your uncle is still in office, and your aunt is in her prime. If you can't handle him, what can I do?"
Erick rolled his eyes and, after hanging up, went to see Tristan, with whom he had no prior dealings.
Ryan's words didn't mean he wouldn't do anything.
His brother-in-law was already hospitalized, and his wife Ruby had not only approached him but also called her father, Quinn. However, Ruby didn't dare to tell Quinn about Henry using a gun on Zachary.
He called Matthew.
Henry had intended to confront Samuel directly but found his phone off. He didn't know Samuel feared his biological father's reputation, thinking Henry was there for revenge, so he fled, making Henry think Samuel was up to some trick.
But Henry didn't care!
When he severely injured Zachary, Henry had already targeted Samuel.
He knew that even without Erick stirring things up, if he wanted to establish himself in Harbor Springs, various forces would eventually come after him. It was just a matter of time.
Since the boil would eventually burst, he might as well lance it himself and use strong medicine!
Henry walked back to the bar. Just as he was about to push open the office door, it opened from the inside, revealing Victoria.
Henry looked at her in confusion as she politely bowed to him, saying, "Hello, Henry!"
She then stepped aside, allowing Henry to enter first.
Henry glanced at Brandon, who was sitting behind the boss's desk. Brandon shrugged, indicating he didn't know what was going on.
After Henry entered, he turned around, expecting Victoria to say something, but she simply walked out.
As Henry approached the desk, Brandon stood up and said, "She said she wants to come back to work."
Henry raised an eyebrow, "Is she here for an interview?"
"No need for that," Brandon explained. "She said she was always the lobby manager here. After getting involved with Bryan, she stopped coming to work. But Erick never fired her or revoked her title. She even continued to receive a basic salary each month, which she eventually told finance to stop paying because she didn't care for the small amount. The current lobby manager used to work under her and still calls her for major issues. She said she's bored at home and wants to start working tonight, asking for her previous salary and commission."
Henry asked, "What did you say?"
"I told her I couldn't decide and had to wait for you. She said she'd start working now, and if you disagreed later, you could fire her."
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Brandon looked at Henry, who sat on the nearby sofa, prompting Brandon to call out, "Come in!"
Vanessa entered.
She had been walking quickly but slowed down upon seeing Henry, straightening her posture and exuding confidence.
"What's the matter?" Brandon asked.
