Chapter 55: Taking on the Leader
Brandon said, "Let's not worry about Henry's love life. None of us have serious girlfriends, so let's not meddle. Henry can handle it."
Just then, the sound of many footsteps echoed in the hallway. Isabelle's voice followed, "Sean, why are you here?"
Neither Isabelle nor Brandon knew what had happened the previous night. Seeing Sean and his men arrive, Isabelle, who was eating a bun at the other end of the hallway, ran over. Hearing Sean's arrival, Brandon and the others tensed up.
Sean had called Isabelle to inform her about the previous night's events and learned she was at the hospital with Henry. Before Isabelle could explain, he hung up and came over with his men. Though he knew he wasn't a match for Henry, he brought his men for moral support. If Isabelle was threatened, he was ready to protect her at any cost.
Sean left his men outside and entered with Isabelle. Brandon and the others knew Sean but weren't close to him. Only Justin had a decent relationship with Sean, who barely recognized Brandon's group.
Henry was surprised to see Sean. Sean wouldn't dare come for the daytime incident or the nighttime one, as Henry had already arranged a meeting with Charles. Even if Charles sent someone, it wouldn't be Sean, who was also injured.
Sean glanced at Brandon's group before focusing on Henry and asked Isabelle, "Why are you here with him?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Isabelle replied. "He's my boyfriend. Who else would I be with?"
Brandon and the others exchanged glances, and Sean was stunned. He looked back at Henry, then at Isabelle, "Don't be afraid, Isabelle. If he bullies you, I'll risk my life to protect you."
"Stop talking nonsense," Isabelle said. "Didn't you hear? He's my boyfriend!"
Seeing Sean wanted to say more, Isabelle said, "Want to know why? Come with me."
Sean glanced at Henry again before following Isabelle out. At the end of the hallway, Isabelle explained how Henry had saved her the previous night. Sean nodded, "Henry is quite something. But why date him just because he saved you?"
"Who said I'm dating him?" Isabelle rolled her eyes. "If I didn't say that, you and your men would have rushed in to fight him."
Sean shook his head, "You should have explained. I thought you were being coerced."
"How could I explain when you hung up on me?"
Sean nodded and headed back to the ward. "Hey, what are you doing?" Isabelle called after him.
Sean told his men to leave and walked back into the ward. "Henry, thanks for saving Isabelle last night."
Henry, sitting on the bed, asked, "Did Charles send you?"
Sean awkwardly smiled, "No, I'm here for Isabelle. Charles didn't send me. There's a code in our world; since you and Charles have a duel, he wouldn't send anyone before that. I came because of Isabelle, and it was a misunderstanding."
Brandon and the others were stunned to hear Henry had arranged a duel with Charles. Sean, still injured and hospitalized, had come despite knowing he couldn't win, showing his deep feelings for Isabelle. Did he not know about Isabelle and Bryan's relationship? That seemed unlikely.
Henry smiled, "In that case, you should prepare for tonight. You'll likely need all your men."
Sean glanced at Brandon's group and asked disdainfully, "Are you taking them tonight?"
Henry smiled, "Do you think I need help to deal with Charles?"
Sean glanced at Henry, "Do you know how powerful Charles is? He hasn't lost a fight in five years since he came to Harbor Springs, which is why he has his current status."
Henry asked, "How many men will he bring tonight? A hundred? A thousand? If I kill Charles right away, what will the others do?"
