Chapter 130: I Can Give You a Key

Vanessa looked at Brandon, though her peripheral vision remained on Henry.
"Brandon, Victoria said she wants to come back to work. She hasn't worked properly for almost a year and stopped receiving her salary six months ago. She just went to finance and asked me to start depositing her salary and commission into her account from this month."
Brandon glanced at Henry, who remained silent, making Brandon feel nervous. He thought Henry was testing him.
But then he had an idea and asked, "Vanessa, what do you think about this?"
Vanessa said, "In terms of ability, she's very competent. However, when Erick was here, she was quite domineering and ostentatious. Although Sean and his team are supposed to handle security, Victoria often resolved issues more effectively than Sean."
Brandon asked, "So, what are you suggesting?"
Vanessa smiled, "I don't know your and Henry's management styles, or if you can handle her ways. She can be wild, acting as if every man in the world is involved with her."
Brandon couldn't help but laugh.
He had heard that famous women in society were often called "big sisters." Victoria was well-known, but people secretly called her "big flirt."
Despite her reputation, she was beautiful and elegant, and even someone like Brandon often fantasized about being with her.
Brandon looked at Henry again, who was casually fiddling with his phone, seemingly ignoring their conversation.
Brandon thought for a moment and said, "In that case, let her start working."
Vanessa glanced at Henry, seeing no reaction, and said, "Okay, Henry, Brandon, I'll head out now."
Henry nodded.
After Vanessa left, Brandon approached Henry and asked, "Henry, do you think I made the right call?"
Henry asked back, "Why did you make that decision?"
Brandon explained, "I saw you staying silent, thinking you wanted her to stay. If you were unhappy, you would have said something."
Henry shook his head, "Brandon, like you, I don't know much about running a business or managing people. That's why I handed the bar over to you, hoping you'd use your intelligence and skills. In other words, your decisions aren't about being right or wrong. We're both feeling our way through this, so if we make mistakes, we correct them. It's just about hiring someone. If you think she's suitable, hire her. If not, let her go. No need to guess my intentions."
"Understood!" Brandon nodded and continued, "My only concern is her past closeness with Erick and Charles. I'm worried you might not be happy, and she might have ulterior motives. But if she claims to be the second-best lobby manager, no one in Harbor Springs would dare claim to be the first."
Henry said, "If she's that capable, why hesitate? As for her motives, you never know anyone's true intentions. For example, Vanessa or anyone else working here—if they weren't approved by Erick and Charles, they wouldn't be here now. So, it's not just about Victoria; you should keep an eye on everyone. Our business deals directly with money and goods, so if you slack off on supervision, they'll be working us instead of us employing them."
Brandon nodded, "Got it!"
"Also, about security, finding the right person might take time. Even if Jonathan and Daniel take the job, they might not be up to it. So, I'm thinking of bringing Sean back. What do you think?"
Brandon was momentarily stunned, but recalling Henry's attitude towards Victoria, he quickly said, "I think that's fine. We have the power to keep or fire him if it doesn't work out."
Henry smiled, "I believe he'll work seriously with us, but you need to keep an eye on him. I've told him to mainly listen to you, and Jonathan and Daniel can also give him tasks. But you three should be careful not to act smug. We're in a critical period and need all the help we can get."
Brandon nodded, "Don't worry, I'll talk to Jonathan and Daniel."
Henry nodded and reminded Brandon to pay special attention tonight, their first night running the business.
Brandon wanted to see him downstairs, but Henry stopped him, telling him to handle his tasks.
As Henry walked down the hallway, he saw a door open, and Victoria, now in professional attire, stepped out.
As she was about to close the door, she saw Henry approaching and smiled, "Hello, Henry!"
Henry found it strange and glanced inside the room. Victoria immediately opened the door wider, saying, "This is my changing room. Others use the large one, but I have a small one. Want to inspect it?"
Not wanting to appear fussy, Henry walked in.
The room was about 12 or 13 square meters, with a bunk bed, a row of lockers, and a desk.
Henry looked at Victoria, who explained, "There used to be four bunk beds here for our hostesses and male models to change and rest. After I got involved with Erick, it became my private room. Later, Erick added a rest room in his office, so this room went unused. No one else was qualified to use it."
Victoria felt she had no secrets from Henry, so she didn't hide anything.
Henry asked, "Did you live here before meeting Bryan?"
"No," Victoria explained, "I bought an apartment in the same complex as Charles. Later, Bryan bought me another apartment in a different complex. This room was for resting. To be precise, it was for Erick and me to have fun. If you're interested, I can give you a key."
Henry stared at Victoria, thinking: No wonder Vanessa said all men seem to be her lovers.
