Chapter 90: Marriage?
Henry stayed silent, eating his breakfast. Emily said nothing more. Andrew glanced between them, feeling something was off.
"Emily," Andrew suddenly said, "since Henry won't be here for lunch, why don't we invite Jason over for dinner? You bought so many groceries."
Emily glanced at Henry, who remained silent. Andrew continued, "You know we need Jason's help with my promotion and our house. If we move to the school's villa, Henry can use this house when he gets married."
Andrew believed Emily would agree, and she did after some hesitation. "Fine, I'll get some cold cuts. Henry, make sure to come back for dinner and keep Jason company."
Andrew looked at Henry, hoping he wouldn't return. Henry said, "I'll try. If I finish my business, I'll come back. If not, don't wait for me."
Andrew understood he couldn't stop Henry from coming if he wanted to, so he said, "You should come back. Your sister-in-law said so. Why not bring Isabelle for dinner?"
Henry coldly replied, "She's busy."
Emily, despite her growing estrangement from Andrew, felt uneasy seeing Henry's cold demeanor towards Andrew and his kindness towards her. She wanted to talk to Henry in private.
After breakfast, Emily tidied up and left for work with Andrew. Watching Andrew leave, Henry cursed inwardly: You're just like your bastard father, both scum!
After they were out of sight, Henry called Isabelle. Isabelle, who had a habit of sleeping in, had been exhausted from staying with Henry at the hospital and returning late last night. She heard the first ring but rolled over, covering her ears with a pillow. By the third ring, she opened her eyes groggily, thinking: Could it be Bryan or Henry?
Bryan had asked her to meet Henry today. She couldn't reach Henry last night and had to send a text. Seeing Henry's name on the screen, she answered, "Hey, are you ghosting me? I tried calling you all night!"
Henry explained, "My phone accidentally turned off last night. I called as soon as I saw it this morning. Are you still in bed?"
"Getting up now."
"Then open the door."
"Really? You're at the door?"
"Yes."
Isabelle ran to the door barefoot, saw Henry through the peephole, and opened it. As she turned to run back, Henry grabbed her, feeling the irresistible smoothness of her skin and nightgown.
"Don't, I haven't washed up yet!"
Isabelle escaped to the bathroom, stopping mid-brush. She loved Bryan but was captivated by Henry's rugged charm. She was confused about her feelings for both men.
After washing up and putting on makeup, she opened the bathroom door to find Henry waiting, who pressed her against the wall and kissed her.
Damn, there goes my makeup!
Seeing Isabelle not resisting, Henry carried her to the bedroom. After a long kiss, noticing she wasn't using a sanitary pad, he got up to undo his belt. The previous night had been torturous for Henry, first with Ruby's seductive test and then mistakenly ending up with Emily.
At that moment, he saw a tear roll down Isabelle's cheek. Henry froze.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing."
Isabelle turned her head towards the window, her eyes distant. Henry asked, "What do you mean? Are you crying with joy or disgusted by me, thinking I'm forcing you?"
Isabelle remained silent, looking out the window. Henry frowned, "What do you mean?"
Isabelle asked, "Do you think I'm just a rebel girl or that it doesn't matter since I've had a boyfriend? Do you think you can just take me?"
Henry was taken aback, "What do you mean? In the hospital, we agreed that once I recovered, we would..."
Isabelle bitterly smiled, "I just wanted to keep you calm. Didn't I tell you? I never let Bryan touch me, promising only after engagement or on our wedding night. But you, you treat me like a plaything. What do you take me for?"
