Chapter 120: A Woman's Weapon
Henry guessed that Charles was probably bewildered, so he hadn't spoken yet. Henry chuckled, "A famous person once said that in this world, there are only eternal interests, not eternal friends. Since there are no eternal friends, there are also no eternal enemies. At least for a certain period, enemies might become the enemies of our enemies. In that case, former enemies, when dealing with our enemies, effectively become our allies. Of course, it’s more accurate to call such friends allies because alliances are generally temporary."
Charles couldn't help but laugh bitterly, "Henry, just say what you mean. Don't talk in riddles. I haven't read much; I can't understand what you're trying to say."
Henry said, "Simply put, I am indeed your enemy, but aren't Samuel, Tristan, and Wyatt also your enemies? You might have had a relatively peaceful time in the past, but you are from the county. Once your power reaches a level they can't tolerate, do you think they will just sit by and do nothing? You know my strength too. With both of us pressuring you, when will you ever have a chance to turn things around?"
Charles frowned.
Henry continued, "Now I’ve already squared off against Samuel. If those three gang leaders unite, and if I can't handle it and have to flee, the bar will fall into their hands. By then, you won't be able to get it back unless you plan to topple all three of them, just like I did today."
Charles took a deep breath. Initially, he thought he had underestimated Henry and provoked him carelessly. He hadn't expected Henry to come prepared, aiming to become the boss of Harbor Springs!
Henry continued, "If you help me now and I get killed, those three gang leaders won't be around either. Then you can come back and clean up the mess. Who in Harbor Springs could be your opponent? If I take them out, I might end up in prison for life or lose my life. You can still make a comeback effortlessly. And you’ll gain more than you ever had before! If nothing happens to me, and you help me, at least I'll remember the favor and won't trouble you. And when you store up your strength and make a surprise attack, you might catch me off guard. In short, if you help me now, I'll be grateful. It's a good deal."
Charles understood Henry's point and knew that if Henry won, his gratitude would make it unlikely for Charles to catch him off guard later. It was all nonsense! Henry would never give him that chance.
However, one thing did move Charles: both the three gang leaders and Henry were his enemies. Two enemies fighting each other could only benefit him, with no downside.
"How many do you need?" Charles asked.
"How many can you get?"
"Will 20 bullets be enough?"
"If that's all you can get, it will do. More would be better!"
Charles said, "Alright, I'll try to get you 30 rounds!"
Henry asked, "How much? I'll transfer the money to you now."
"No need, consider it a gift!" Charles said before hanging up.
Henry smiled. He had counted on Charles helping him, but he wouldn't use all the bullets on people. Having more bullets, even firing them into the air, could intimidate people.
Next, he called Erick: "You played your part well today. Out of respect for your aunt, I advise you to leave Harbor Springs immediately. Otherwise, I'll kill you on sight!"
Without waiting for Erick's response, he hung up.
Erick was with Samuel at the time. Hearing that Zachary was injured, he rushed to the hospital, only to find out that Samuel's right-hand man, Nathan, had also been hurt by Henry. Samuel called Charles at Erick's suggestion, hoping to form an alliance. However, Samuel's probing call made it clear that Charles wouldn't join forces with him, so he said nothing more.
Erick had planned to persuade Charles personally, but Henry called first. This was an attempt to drive him out of Harbor Springs!
Erick couldn't swallow this insult. He placed two cards on the table in front of Samuel, "We can't deal with Henry without drastic measures. I heard Tristan's underground fight club has some desperate fighters. Samuel, go find him. These two cards total one million, fifty thousand for you, fifty thousand for Henry's head!"
Samuel laughed, "This kid is tough. Fifty thousand won't buy his life. But with or without your money, I won't let him go!"
Erick understood Samuel's meaning; he wanted more money. Erick took out another fifty-thousand-dollar card and placed it on the table, "This is all I have. Once the bar is back in my hands, I'll give you ten percent of the shares!"
Samuel nodded, "No wonder Zachary said you were resourceful. Rest assured, I won't let that kid live past this month!"
Today was the 29th, and this month had 31 days, meaning Samuel wouldn't let Henry live more than three days!
"Samuel," Erick said bitterly, "I'll have to stick with you for these three days."
Samuel nodded, "No problem!"
After hanging up, Henry thought for a moment and then called Victoria, asking her to come to the hospital.
Victoria was stunned. Just hearing Henry's voice made her tremble. Erick had told her everything that happened today, hoping she could persuade Bryan to use the Davis family's influence to crush Henry. Victoria was waiting for Bryan at his villa, as he had unusually gone to his parents' house for dinner. She hadn't expected Henry's call.
After some hesitation, she drove to the hospital.
Victoria entered the ward, unable to meet Henry's eyes, but she had prepared meticulously. She wore a trench coat and boots, looking well-covered. After closing the door behind her, she took off the coat, revealing an outfit that left nothing to the imagination. Her top was completely transparent, and her skirt was short, with no underwear. Sitting down, her skirt rode up, exposing everything to Henry.
As a woman, she had revealed everything she could, hoping Henry would remember she was a woman.
