Chapter 174: Scared to Death

Henry had a reason for seeking out Ryan because Charles had essentially confirmed that no one else had firearms. If even the top gang leaders didn't have them, then the smaller thugs certainly wouldn't. Henry immediately thought of Ryan. As someone from the police department, Ryan might have found a way to bring someone in from out of town, especially after being injured so badly by Henry. While not a professional hitman, the recent attack was deadly enough for an ordinary person.

Seeing Ryan's adamant denial, especially his claim that no one in Harbor Springs had firearms, Henry believed him. Ryan's reaction wasn't feigned. If he had hired someone, he would have known about the firearms and wouldn't act so innocent.

Henry said coldly, "I taught you a lesson yesterday, and today I get attacked. Is that just a coincidence?"

Ryan quickly pointed at Erick, "Erick, you better speak up. Was it Tristan who sent someone?"

Henry glanced at Erick, who immediately wet himself in fear.

"It wasn't me... Tristan, he sent someone earlier. But Tristan just called, asking for 3 million, saying he could deal with you today."

Henry, holding a Desert Eagle, silently walked towards Erick.

Erick, leaning against the raised headboard, endured the pain and knelt on the bed, "Henry, Henry, you knew about this yesterday. I didn't tell him anything today. Ask Victoria; I called her yesterday, asking her to leave Harbor Springs with me. I really didn't plan any revenge. Besides, you're smart. Even if Tristan's men targeted you, it wasn't for me. He's playing both sides. If he really did something to you, I doubt he'd give the bar back to me."

Henry, standing before him, asked coldly, "So it was Gavin who made the move?"

Erick replied, "I really don't know. When I saw Tristan yesterday, he said Gavin wasn't in Harbor Springs, that he had gone south."

Henry understood. Maybe Gavin had gone south to buy firearms. But he didn't know Gavin had bought three handguns, not just the Desert Eagle.

In the car earlier, Gavin had brought all three handguns.

Henry said, "Your injury isn't severe. Get your dislocated joints fixed and leave Harbor Springs within two days. Don't ever come back."

"Yes, yes."

"And as for Victoria, you're not worthy of her!" Henry said, then smashed Erick's mouth with the Desert Eagle.

With a "thud," Erick's front teeth were knocked out. He clutched his mouth in pain, blood seeping through his fingers, making Ruby and Ryan's hearts pound.

Henry picked up the half-eaten apple Ruby had peeled and walked over to her.

Ryan and Ruby were frozen in fear, watching him without moving.

Henry placed the Desert Eagle on the bedside table, took the fruit knife from Ruby, and slowly peeled the dirt off the apple.

In the brief minute it took Henry to peel the apple, Ryan and Ruby felt an eternity pass, the tension unbearable.

Henry handed the peeled apple to Ruby. She mechanically took it, staring at him in terror.

Henry picked up the Desert Eagle, tucked it into his waistband, and walked out briskly.

Victoria gave Ruby a meaningful look before quickly following him out.

Ruby looked at the apple in her hand, then at Ryan.

Ryan let out a long sigh, "Honey, get me a new pair of pants."

He had wet himself in fear too.

After leaving the hospital and getting into the car, Victoria said, "Thank you."

Henry glanced at her, realizing she was thanking him for saying Erick wasn't worthy of her.

"I was just being honest," Henry suddenly reached out and touched Victoria's chest, "He really doesn't deserve you."

Henry had touched Isabelle's chest before, and compared to Isabelle's softness, Victoria's was full and elastic.

In terms of her chest alone, Victoria was flawless.

Victoria smiled, "Henry, you don't need to treat me like this. I'm not your type."

Henry squeezed her chest again before letting go, "When I went upstairs to get the firearms, did you call Charles?"

Victoria smiled awkwardly, "Nothing escapes you. I asked him, but he didn't say anything."

"Did you follow me upstairs because you were afraid I'd really kill Ryan?"

Victoria explained, "I've been in the underworld for many years and met many ruthless people, but no one dares to touch someone from the police department. No matter what their job is, they have colleagues. Even if they can't subdue you, their colleagues won't let you go."

Henry smiled and touched her face, "Where to now?"

"To Tristan's gym. You know where it is, right?"

"Yes." Victoria then asked Henry, "Are you going alone?"

Victoria hoped he would take Jonathan and Daniel.

Henry pinched her chin, "Isn't there you?"

Victoria said nothing more and drove towards the East Suburb Amusement Park.

She knew Henry was going to kill, to take lives. Not calling Jonathan and Daniel was to avoid them being burdens and to avoid implicating them.

As for Victoria, it was simple. If Henry got into trouble, whether losing to Tristan or getting caught by the police, she could claim she was being held hostage.

The East Suburb Amusement Park was managed by the Parks Department, but the amusement park, skating rink, swimming pool, and underground gym were all run by Tristan.

Of course, the underground gym was officially called the "Sanda Fighting Training Center" to avoid suspicion.

Since it wasn't the weekend, the amusement park was sparsely populated.

After parking the car, Victoria was about to unbuckle her seatbelt when Henry pinched her chest again, "Wait in the car. Don't get out."

He then got out of the car.

Watching Henry's retreating figure, Victoria smiled bitterly.

If only she had met Henry years earlier!
