Chapter 84: She Got Drunk
Henry smiled, "I never thought of needing you to do anything for me. After getting out of prison, I just want a peaceful life.
As for cooperating with you, honestly, I always feel there's something off about it.
As the saying goes, 'There are no walls without cracks.' If something goes wrong on your end, I might end up taking the fall.
And then there's Erick. I feel he's bound to end up in trouble.
If he gets caught, it might drag you down, and it could also implicate me.
And your classmate Jason isn't a good person either. I still have a score to settle with him, which might ruin him.
I'm worried that once he pays for his actions, it might affect you too."
Ruby didn't expect Henry, who went to prison at a young age, to have such a strong sense of law and caution, which was unusual for his age.
And this was precisely the kind of person Ruby needed.
Ruby's only concern was that Henry might mess things up like Erick and drag her down. Now, he was worried about implicating her instead.
With such awareness, Ruby felt Henry wouldn't draw undue attention, making their cooperation solid.
Ruby suddenly took off her high heels, propped her snow-white, sexy legs on the round table, and half-lay on the sofa, casting a seductive glance at Henry, "Do you think my legs are clean?"
Wow.
Though she was beautiful, she was also middle-aged, and she suddenly used her charm on him?
Fortunately, Henry had mentally prepared himself, thinking of Emily, Avery, and Isabelle, so he could ignore her.
Henry calmly said, "Not only clean but also beautiful."
Although it was a compliment, Ruby didn't see the reaction she hoped for in Henry's eyes, so she smiled.
She retracted her legs, sat up straight, and said, "I mean to say that my relationship with Jason and Erick is as clean as my legs.
Even if they were executed tomorrow, it wouldn't have anything to do with me.
That's why when Erick called me, saying you took his three hard drives with financial data, begging me to get them back, I didn't mention it to you."
This was her way of warning Henry.
"That's for the best," Henry said. "But I still have no reason to convince myself to cooperate with you.
You wouldn't say you'd throw me back in prison if I didn't cooperate, would you?"
Ruby laughed, "Do you think I run the prison, letting you out and sending you back at will?
Someone as smart as you should realize that even if you want a peaceful life, some people won't allow it.
You might not want to provoke others, but that doesn't mean others won't provoke you.
For example, Charles, Erick, Victoria, and even Jason. Do you think your temporary victory guarantees a lifetime of peace?
What if they retaliate?
You can handle people in society, but what about those in other departments or local leaders? Do you think you can fend them off?
By cooperating with me, I can solve many problems you can't."
Henry smiled but said nothing.
Ruby continued, "For example, your brother is willing to sell his soul for an associate professor title.
I can make Jason a vice principal, and I can make your brother one too.
And your sister-in-law, I hear she's a university lecturer.
Regardless of her qualifications, I can make her a professor or even transfer her to another department as a leader like Avery.
And your future girlfriend, fiancée, or wife, and even her family, I can help them too."
Henry stared into Ruby's eyes, "How do we transfer the money we earn to you or your son?"
Ruby was stunned again, feeling Henry was too unique.
She knew her words had moved Henry, but she couldn't pinpoint which one hit his soft spot.
Such people were rare.
As an organizational leader, she had met countless people and could usually read them well.
But Henry, who seemed young and impulsive, was hard to read.
Ruby said, "I'll have my son register a company in Slavogradia. You can conduct business online and transfer my share to his account."
Henry nodded, "Okay, let's do that."
Ruby looked at Henry again.
Normally, once terms were agreed upon, the next step was profit sharing.
Even though Ruby had stated her stance, Henry should have finalized the split.
But he didn't mention profit sharing at all!
Ruby understood that someone like him wouldn't let her suffer.
She raised her glass again, proposing a toast to their cooperation.
She poured a full glass this time.
After drinking, she felt a bit tipsy, and her body swayed.
Henry noticed and immediately helped her to the bed.
She kept saying she wasn't drunk but started untying her bathrobe, looking hot.
Henry helped her remove the bathrobe and found she was wearing a bra and thong. Her snow-white skin, under the luxurious lighting, made Henry dizzy.
As he was about to cover her with a blanket, Ruby suddenly hooked her arm around his neck, her lips almost touching his, and said with a flushed face, "It's late, stay here tonight?"
Henry didn't respond, just gently removed her arm and tucked it under the blanket.
Ruby turned, exposing her burgundy bra, thong, and half of her snow-white body and legs.
No man could resist such a sight.
Henry grabbed another blanket and covered her.
Looking sideways, he saw Ruby was asleep.
It seemed her alcohol tolerance was low.
Henry was about to leave but then thought, what if she got too drunk and something happened if he left?
Seeing it was already 2 AM, Henry hesitated, then took a blanket from the bed and lay on the sofa. His phone accidentally poked him.
He took it out and saw it had been turned off.
When he turned it on, there were more than ten missed calls from Isabelle and a final text: "Are you crazy, always turning off your phone? Bryan called, wants to meet you. We're meeting at Royal Café tomorrow at noon!"
Henry shook his head, about to put his phone aside, when he suddenly saw Ruby standing silently beside him.
