Chapter 56: I'm Shy Around You

Sean was taken aback. Others might be bluffing, but Henry could do it. If Henry killed Charles immediately, what would the others do? With Henry and Zack both hospitalized, who would lead them?

Isabelle, puzzled, asked Henry, "You were beaten badly and still arranged a duel? When did you do that?"

Brandon and the others also wanted to know. Henry didn't answer but smiled at Sean, "Thanks for the warning. With Henry and Zack both hospitalized, you're probably Charles's top lieutenant now. Since you're also injured, find an excuse not to be there tonight. Isabelle says you treat her like a sister, and I don't want to target you."

Brandon and the others exchanged glances. Henry and Zack both hospitalized? When did that happen? Henry's tone suggested he did it himself, but he was on a drip last night.

Sean didn't respond, just smiled, glanced at Brandon's group, and left. Isabelle followed, wanting to clarify things.

"Henry," Brandon asked after they left, "did you call for help last night or handle Henry and Zack yourself?"

Henry laughed, "You know my temper. Unless I'm killed, I never let a grudge last overnight. I had to settle last night's score personally."

The others admired his resolve. Brandon asked, "So you really arranged a duel with Charles?"

"Yes, tonight at 8 PM at the abandoned brick kiln in the southern suburbs."

Brandon was too stunned to respond. Gabriel said, "Henry, Sean was right. Charles's power is immense. You might manage a sneak attack, but a duel..."

Gabriel shook his head. Brandon hesitated, "Unless you call Robert for help, you can't handle it."

Henry laughed, "I'm not trying to take over his territory. I'll just kill Charles. I doubt his men will stick around once he's gone."

"But you'll be outnumbered," Brandon said. "If you haven't called anyone, should we gather more men?"

He wasn't confident, showing his fear of Charles's power. Gabriel added, "If we call others, we can't tell them it's a duel with Charles. Who would dare go?"

Brandon hesitated, "Should the six of us go?"

Gabriel stayed silent, Christopher and Ethan looked scared, but Jonathan said, "Of course!"

Daniel added, "No problem!"

Henry laughed, "Thanks, brothers. But tonight isn't about taking territory. I might die or end up in prison. So there's no need for you to risk it. We'll have other chances."

A doctor entered for rounds, and Isabelle followed. Henry asked Brandon and the others to leave. They nodded, looking worried, and said goodbye.

Henry didn't blame them. They had only just met, and risking their lives for him was too much to ask. He wouldn't do it either.

After the doctor set up Henry's drip, Emily called. "Henry, what's going on? The 600,000 I wired yesterday was returned. I just saw the notification."

Henry laughed, "Isn't that good news?"

Emily asked, "Did you send someone to deal with them?"

Henry said, "Don't worry about it. I told you, they have to pay back what they owe. Erick and the woman who hit you won't escape either."

Emily was surprised, "It was you? I ran into Jason at school and told your brother. He thought Jason handled it."

"What did Jason say?"

"He just smiled and said it's good they returned it, implying he did it."

Henry thought, "I've seen thick-skinned people, but this is something else."

"Don't worry," Henry said. "Pretend it never happened."

Emily agreed.

After the nurse set up Henry's drip, Isabelle suddenly said she was leaving. Henry grabbed her hand, "What's the hurry?"

"Nothing."

"Then why leave? I just got my drip and need someone to watch me."

"Don't be ridiculous!" Isabelle glared at him. "You're like an invincible cockroach. You went out for revenge last night and think I'm stupid?"

Henry chuckled, "I didn't want you to worry."

"Why would I worry about you?"

"I'm your boyfriend."

"Get lost!"

"Don't! You look beautiful when you're angry, but even more so when you smile. Give me a smile."

Isabelle glared at him.

"Ouch," Henry said suddenly. "I forgot to use the bathroom. Can you help me?"

"Do it yourself!"

"I'm a patient."

"Patients can run around with a gun?" Isabelle glared but fetched a plastic urinal. "Do it yourself!"

Henry said, "I can't aim with one hand."

Isabelle laughed, then scowled, lifting the blanket.

This time, she didn't close her eyes and helped Henry aim. Henry watched her expression but couldn't read anything.

"Can you make a 'shh' sound? I can't go otherwise."

Isabelle laughed again, and Henry finally went, making her shake with laughter.
