Chapter 91: Uncontrollable Impulse

Henry stared at Isabelle for a long time, feeling both ashamed and angry, but he didn't lash out. He got up, fastened his belt, and walked out. Emily had unintentionally hurt his pride earlier, and now Isabelle was bringing up Bryan, adding salt to his wound.

Isabelle lay there quietly, hearing Henry's footsteps stop in the living room, likely sitting on the sofa. She sighed, dressed, and went to the living room, seeing Henry leaning back, eyes closed, trying to control his emotions.

She sat on the corner of the sofa, shaking her legs, staring at her toes. Henry suddenly sat up, "When are you meeting Bryan?"

"Noon, around 12."

"Okay, I'll be at the Royal Café at noon."

Isabelle asked, "Why are you going?"

Henry, puzzled, replied, "Didn't you ask me to?"

Isabelle looked at him, "I mean, what's your purpose? Are you going to force him to marry me like you did with Erick and Victoria?"

Henry asked, "Don't you want to marry him?"

Isabelle's face softened, "If so, why did you force Victoria to divorce him and make Erick marry her?"

Henry explained, "Whether you end up with Bryan or not, you wouldn't want to see Victoria marry Bryan, right? Making them divorce was to vent your anger, not to help you marry Bryan. As for Erick marrying Victoria, I think he deserves to be responsible for her. Erick used her to make money and connections, and now it's time for him to face the consequences. If they don't marry, Victoria might go back home or move to another city, hurting another honest man. Last night's result was their due punishment, not a setup for you to return to Bryan."

Isabelle pouted, "Didn't my outburst embarrass you?"

Henry said, "Your emotional outburst showed you're a devoted girl, which touched me deeply. Why would I feel embarrassed? As for Sean's misunderstanding, thinking I was making a sacrifice for you, why not let him believe it? If you could be happy with Bryan, I'd consider stepping back. But I doubt you'd be happy with him. So today, I want to hear what he has to say. If he wants you back, I'll remind him how Charles was forced to leave Harbor Springs."

Isabelle finally understood Henry's intentions but felt more confused. She didn't realize Henry wasn't as committed as he appeared. He was more concerned about his physical needs, with Isabelle being the only available option besides hiring a prostitute. In such a situation, any man would lose his rationality.

"There's something you might not know," Isabelle said seriously, "Even though I like you, we can't be together."

"Why?" Henry asked, "Did you lie about being with Bryan?"

"No!" Isabelle insisted, "You're the only man who has ever held me in bed."

"Then why?"

Isabelle smiled bitterly, "I've always hoped to marry Bryan, but my body doesn't resist you. It's like the saying, 'a wicked person meets their match.' I was spoiled and willful, never letting anyone take advantage of me. But after you beat and humiliated me, I couldn't forget you. I hated the smell of men, even Bryan, but your scent and touch have a strange power over me. My subconscious tells me to stay away, but I can't resist when you hold me."

Henry, excited, pulled her onto his lap, one hand around her waist, the other exploring under her clothes. "Then don't resist. Be my woman from now on."

Isabelle pouted, "If any other man touched me, I'd cut off his hand. But with you, it's different."

Henry chuckled, "Maybe it's fate. Why resist?"

Isabelle sighed, "You should understand what it means to make it big, right? For men, it's about hard work. For women, it's about marrying well. Marrying a wealthy man is a transformation, elevating not just the woman but her entire family. Everyone's perception changes."

Henry scoffed, "Bryan's just rich because of his parents. I may have just gotten out of prison, but money isn't an issue for me. How much dowry do you need?"

Anyone else would get kicked out for such a comment, but Henry was different. Isabelle knew he wasn't bluffing. She shook her head, "Do you think I'm with Bryan just for his money?"

Henry asked, "Then what do you see in him? Is it true that women love bad boys?"

Isabelle glared, "Bryan isn't as bad as you, groping me all over!"

Henry laughed, "Just like your body has a magnetic pull on me, mine does on you. So soft, so nice!"

Isabelle winced, "Don't pinch, it hurts!"

Feeling the atmosphere was right and his body reacting, Henry's eyes filled with desire. Isabelle sensed his intentions and quickly said, "Henry, can we just talk today?"

Henry nodded, hiding his desire, but his hand continued exploring. Isabelle's body reacted, goosebumps rising. She knew this was dangerous but didn't want him to stop.

Henry misunderstood Isabelle. She came from a poor village where her father was the respected village head and her mother a former schoolteacher. Isabelle had two brothers, one working and one disabled. Her success in getting into college was thanks to The Davis Family Group, which funded her education and living expenses. Bryan, a wealthy heir, pursued her, and she couldn't resist.

Isabelle wasn't just a pretty face. She knew how to maintain her dignity and self-respect, never letting Bryan go too far. But Bryan's betrayal and Henry's rugged charm broke down her defenses. If Henry hadn't been hospitalized, she might have given herself to him already.
