Chapter 31: Are You Seeking Death?
The phone call was from Jason, who suggested that they all go to the Violet Bar in the evening to have a chat and discuss the day's events. Andrew immediately agreed and promised to be there soon.
Emily furrowed her brows and asked, "Didn't Henry already handle the situation?"
Andrew, thinking himself clever, replied, "He did get involved, but I believe we still need to show some courtesy and compensate a little, maybe with some money. I'll go now, and it might take me a while to come back."
Emily suggested, "Why don't we wait for Henry to return before deciding?"
Andrew explained, "Jason is already there, helping us out. We can't just leave him hanging, can we?"
After a moment of contemplation, Emily said, "Alright, I'll go with you then."
Andrew understood that Emily was concerned about being taken advantage of. However, with Jason's presence, he believed their safety was ensured.
As they drove towards the Violet Bar, Andrew advised Emily, "Even though Jason is there, be cautious with your words. We're there to help Henry, not create more trouble."
Emily assured him, "I understand. I'll be with you, and if needed, I'll apologize to them."
Andrew smiled and glanced at Emily, saying, "Having you as my sister-in-law is truly a blessing."
Emily, displeased, retorted, "Don't mock me! Don't compare me to fictional characters. If I were like her, you would have faced consequences long ago."
Andrew quickly explained, "No, I know you have emotional intelligence and always consider my well-being. I was just worried that Henry, who doesn't understand women well, might misunderstand."
Emily reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll handle it appropriately."
They arrived at the entrance of the bar, and as they entered the lobby, they were greeted by Erick, who was already seated on the sofa.
"Ah, the two teachers have arrived. Where's your brother?" Erick inquired.
Andrew, with a forced smile, replied, "Sorry for the trouble today. When Jason called, my brother had already left."
Erick reassured, "No problem. It was a misunderstanding. If I had known you were Jason's colleagues and friends, I wouldn't have... By the way, Jason is already in VIP Room 888. Please follow me."
Andrew nodded and followed Erick upstairs, while Emily, with a furrowed brow, held onto Andrew's hand and gently pulled him back.
Andrew slowed down and whispered, "What's wrong?"
"Why didn't I see Jason's car?" Emily asked.
Andrew chuckled, "Isn't that normal? Why would he drive his own car to a place like this and wait for trouble?"
Emily thought about it but still felt something was off. She whispered, "Erick seems overly polite."
"That's expected. Jason intervened, so he has to show some respect," Andrew explained.
"What I mean is, if he's not holding a grudge, why did he call us here? Couldn't we just let it go?" Emily questioned.
Andrew replied, "In these social circles, they care about both substance and face. Although he's giving Jason some face, there might still be some resentment. By apologizing and offering some money, we can all save face."
As they spoke, they arrived at VIP Room 888.
At the entrance, two burly men with tattoos on their arms stood guard.
One of them pushed the door open when he saw Andrew and Emily approaching, and Erick gestured for them to enter first.
Seeing the intimidating scene, both Andrew and Emily shuddered involuntarily.
But since they had already reached the door and knew Jason was inside, Andrew held Emily's hand and bravely walked in.
However, once inside, they realized Jason was nowhere to be found.
Earlier in the afternoon, after the chaotic incident at the bar involving Henry and his brother, Erick had called Charles and informed him about what had happened.
Charles, on his way back to Harbor Springs from the county, upon hearing that his brothers had suffered a great loss, immediately headed to the bar.
After Erick and Henry explained the situation, Charles, seeing the sorry state of his brothers and Erick, remained expressionless and said, "You let a country bumpkin do this to you? Cancel the account directly. Otherwise, how can I, Charles, show my face in Harbor Springs?"
He made a few phone calls and more than sixty of his brothers quickly arrived. They were strategically placed in the opposite room and the three adjacent rooms. Erick was then instructed to call Henry over.
Since Erick didn't have Henry's contact information and Henry didn't have a phone, he thought of Jason.
Erick dialed Jason's number and straightforwardly explained that they were planning to teach Henry a lesson that night, but they were concerned he wouldn't comply. He asked Jason to call Andrew and arrange for them to resolve their differences that evening.
Jason was taken aback for a moment. Erick knew what he was worried about and immediately assured him that they would handle it appropriately. He even promised to create a favorable situation for Jason afterwards. Finally, he even hinted, "You're interested in that Ms. Wen, aren't you?
If I take care of Henry, you'll have one less obstacle!"
Jason considered the offer. He had hinted to Andrew multiple times, but Andrew was not only selfish but also a coward. If Erick dealt with Henry, Jason wouldn't have much to worry about.
That's when Jason made that phone call to Andrew.
