Chapter 176: Seasoned Veterans
After Gavin left, Tristan knew that if they didn't eliminate Henry, not only would they lose the Violet Bar, but their plans to extort Erick would also fail.
Killing someone just for self-defense was too risky and not worth it.
How could they eliminate Henry and profit at the same time?
Tristan thought of Cole.
He had a segment of surveillance footage saved to his phone, clear enough to show Henry's face and build. He called Cole.
Cole was in his office, a young secretary on his lap, his hands roaming her body.
When the phone rang, he habitually motioned for the secretary to answer and hold it to his ear.
Seeing Tristan's name, he slapped the secretary's butt, sending her out.
"Hello, Tristan!" Cole asked, "It's been years since you called. What made you think of me today?"
Tristan laughed, "No need to worry, Cole. I'm not asking for money. I met someone today and wondered if you know him."
"Who?"
"Hold on, I'll send you a video." Tristan hung up, sent the video, and waited smugly for Cole's shocked call.
Cole thought Tristan had been caught by some authority and was checking if he knew anyone.
When Cole opened the video, he was stunned: This guy looks just like Sebastian!
Aurora had mentioned it, but Cole thought she exaggerated. He didn't expect Henry to resemble his father so closely.
If not for knowing about Henry beforehand, Cole would have been shocked.
Cole called Tristan back, not panicked but calmly asking, "Did this guy cause trouble?"
Tristan was puzzled, "Cole, didn't you see the video clearly? Check again."
Cole, unfazed, said, "I saw clearly. You mean he looks like Sebastian?"
"Yes!" Tristan thought: Is this old guy senile or faking it?
Cole asked, "What does he want? Is it about his father or did you provoke him?"
Damn!
Is he senile or pretending?
Sebastian was executed because of Cole's betrayal. How can he act so innocent?
"No, Cole," Tristan said, "This guy is clearly hostile. Maybe it's about his father."
Cole replied, "His father was arrested by the police and sentenced by the court. It's all documented. What are you worried about?"
Damn, what's with 'what are you worried about'? This old guy is really cunning!
"Cole, if that's the case, let's pretend I didn't say anything."
"Alright," Cole said, "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
He hung up, leaving Tristan staring at his phone in disbelief.
He thought Cole would be shocked and panicked, asking what was going on.
Then he would say it's a small matter, planning to kill Henry.
In Tristan's imagined scenario, Cole would offer millions to have Henry eliminated.
But Cole said nothing, leaving Tristan frustrated.
He sighed, realizing he still couldn't outsmart Cole.
Cole then called Wyatt, who was also surprised, having not heard from Cole in years.
"Cole," Wyatt asked, "What brings you to call today?"
Cole laughed, "They say true friends remain close despite the distance. We've all been busy, so it's normal not to contact each other. I haven't heard from you or Aaron either!"
Wyatt agreed, "You're right, Cole. We're old now, not like the old days, hanging out all the time. It's the thought that counts! So, Cole, what can I do for you?"
Cole laughed, skipping the pleasantries, "Did Tristan contact you recently?"
Wyatt knew Tristan must have contacted Cole about Henry and didn't beat around the bush, "Yes, a guy named Henry has been causing a stir in Harbor Springs, taking on all comers. The scary part is he looks just like Sebastian."
Cole nodded, appreciating Wyatt's straightforwardness. Among Wyatt, Tristan, and Samuel, he preferred dealing with Wyatt.
"Did Tristan provoke him?"
Wyatt nodded, "More or less."
Wyatt explained how Tristan had sent fighters after Henry at Erick's request, only for Henry to drive them off.
Cole shook his head, "Tristan never grows up. If he wants help or money, he should just ask. We've been friends for decades. Instead, he sends me Henry's video, asking if I know him. What's his game?"
Wyatt laughed, "Sucking up, I guess. He wants to kill Henry and score points with you."
Cole sneered, "Doesn't he realize if Henry wanted revenge for his father, he'd come after me? He wants to kill Henry and curry favor with me. I'm still a district representative. How can I be linked to a murder?"
Wyatt laughed, "He approached me too, and I refused. At our age, getting involved in a murder isn't worth it. But be careful, Cole. Sebastian's incident happened before Henry was born. He probably doesn't know the details. But I hear he's ruthless. He even hospitalized Quinn's son, who didn't dare tell his father. And Samuel vanished after seeing Henry's resemblance to Sebastian. If Tristan can't handle Henry, he might reveal everything to save himself."
Cole said, "I thought the same, so I called you. If he doesn't mention the past, it's just a current grudge. We can help him if needed. But if he spills the past, we'll have to silence him."
Wyatt agreed, "I suggested he disappear like Samuel."
Cole sneered, "He's too greedy to give up his current gains. He's doomed!"
He hung up, leaving Wyatt pondering. Cole's call was more a warning than a request for help.
