Chapter 64: Are You Crazy?
"Are you crazy?" Isabelle exclaimed in shock. "Whether or not there's a fight, if the police find out about tonight's showdown, Henry will definitely end up back in jail."
Indeed, regardless of Charles's reputation, if Henry got into a fight the day after his release, who else would they arrest?
Emily mused, "Even going back to jail is better than losing his life!"
Isabelle incredulously shook her head at Emily, "Emily, people say reading too much can make you foolish, but you're teaching, and you're still foolish!
Do you think that after calling the police and having Henry arrested, it will all be over?
In this, I actually support him. Don't seek trouble, but if it comes, don't be afraid of it!
For people in the underworld, you must use underworld methods.
Although I don't see any benefit for Henry in tonight's fight, since it's been arranged, he must face it bravely. Better to die standing than live kneeling!"
Emily stared at her wide-eyed, "Did you even try to persuade him?"
Isabelle retorted, "Why don't you try yourself?"
Emily hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "I must try!"
She realized that simple reasoning wouldn't work; she needed a plan. The easiest idea was to delay.
She planned to invite Henry to the park around seven o'clock, using small talk to delay his departure.
Unexpectedly, after dinner, Henry went downstairs for a walk and never returned, his phone turned off and unreachable.
Emily and Isabelle exchanged glances.
Isabelle secretly called Sean, asking if he was participating in the fight tonight. Sean unequivocally replied, "The boss's boss personally arranged the fight; how could I not participate?"
Isabelle said, "After the fight, call me immediately with the results. Also, if possible, speak up for Henry or protect him in secret!"
Sean frowned, "Isabelle, have you really fallen for him?"
Isabelle retorted, "For a guy in the underworld, Henry truly saved my life!"
Sean sighed, "Is there even a need to call? I won't have a chance to speak up for him or protect him in secret.
Tonight, there are only two outcomes: either he kills Charles, or Charles kills him!"
"Just call me immediately with the results!"
"Alright!"
Seeing that Emily hadn't returned for a long time, Andrew, after showering, also came to the hospital. Hearing that Henry was likely going to the fight, Emily and Isabelle decided to stay in the ward and wait for Henry to return.
Andrew had no choice but to stay with them.
Andrew also suggested calling the police, but Isabelle stopped him again.
After Isabelle's persuasion, Henry understood that Emily would definitely try to intervene herself. Henry hid two pistols and ammunition from the bedside table on his person, then left the hospital early under the pretense of taking a walk in the hospital garden.
As he reached the entrance, he saw Brandon, Jonathan, and Daniel getting out of a taxi.
They exited awkwardly, clearly hiding something on their bodies.
Henry looked at them in surprise, and Brandon, looking embarrassed, said, "Christopher, Ethan, and Gabriel couldn't make it due to family issues. I could have called seven or eight brothers.
But Charles's reputation is too big. If I told them directly, none would dare come.
If I didn't explain the situation, and they saw Charles at the scene, they'd react like Justin, so I didn't call anyone else. It's just the three of us with you!"
Henry explained, "Brandon, you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying you brought too few people; you brought too many. Tonight, I'm going to kill Charles, I don't need help, and I don't want to drag anyone down!"
Jonathan said, "Henry, no more talking. Tonight, the three of us are with you."
"Exactly!" Daniel said, "Fortune favors the bold. We've thought it through. Either don't join the underworld, or don't fear death once you're in.
Frankly, which big boss in the underworld hasn't done time?
Who doesn't have a few scars?"
"Yes," Jonathan continued, "No scars, no time served, who can be a boss?"
Henry realized that Brandon came out of old friendship. In prison, he was timid and wouldn't have survived without Henry's protection.
Jonathan and Daniel, however, were eager to make a name for themselves in the underworld. They saw this as an opportunity.
Henry smiled, "You know Charles's power and can imagine tonight's scene."
Jonathan patted his back, "Don't worry, we all brought weapons. We're here to fight with you."
Henry glanced at Daniel, who said, "Don't worry about us regretting it. Regret comes after experience, right?
But we haven't experienced it, so how can we regret it?
So, Henry, don't hesitate. Give us an experience we might regret!
But what if we succeed?"
Henry scanned them, "You must understand, tonight is not an evenly matched fight. We have no chance to hold back.
I'm going over now. As soon as Charles shows up, I'll take him out.
Once the police get involved, even if you didn't act, you'll face serious charges because of the murder."
Brandon said, "Henry, we know all this and have thought it through. In short, the three of us are here to fight with you.
If we make it, we can walk tall in Harbor Springs.
If not, it's just bad luck, no one else to blame!"
Henry nodded, "Any of you ever used a gun?"
Brandon shook his head.
Jonathan said, "I served three years in the army, shot targets every year, know a bit about the Type 63 rifle."
Daniel said, "I've never used one, but it shouldn't be hard!"
Henry took them to a corner of the wall, pulled a pistol from his waist and handed it to Jonathan, "Check this out."
