Chapter 190: He's the Boss of Harbor Springs
Owen laughed, "Simple. Let's see who walks away from here alive today. Whoever walks away gets to decide!"
Bella, hearing this, realized it was a life-or-death situation and quickly tugged on Ivy's sleeve.
Ivy was also scared, staring at Owen but keeping an eye on Henry.
"Big brother," Henry said calmly, "We're all in the same world. Why go to such extremes?"
Owen and his men looked Henry up and down with disdain, not because of his clothes, which were decent and bought by Emily.
It was his accent that gave him away as a country bumpkin.
"Oh, you're in this world too?" Owen sneered, "Who's your big brother?"
Henry, seeing that Owen was young and involved in scamming and bullying students, figured he was a small-time thug. Given Charles' reputation in the area, these guys were likely either Charles' underlings or new to the scene. At the very least, they should know Charles' name.
Henry thought, if he mentioned Charles directly, would they think he was bluffing?
Better to keep it low-key.
"Sean. Do you know Sean?"
The thugs almost burst out laughing.
Owen, pretending to be scared, quickly stubbed out his cigar, almost crying, "So you're Sean's brother? Please, spare us!"
Ivy, seeing this, was about to say something smug, but then noticed the thugs laughing and realized Owen was mocking Henry, making her panic.
She thought Henry's mention of Sean meant he was a significant figure, but the thugs' reaction showed they didn't take Sean seriously, making her anxious.
Henry calmly asked, "How about Henry, Zack, or Charles?"
Owen threw the stub of his cigar at Henry's face, revealing his true colors, "Why don't you just say Charles is your big brother?"
Henry dodged the cigar stub, thinking Owen was bluffing.
From his tone, it was clear he knew Charles and was wary of him; otherwise, he wouldn't mention Charles.
They underestimated Henry, thinking he only knew Sean, and tried to scare them with Henry and Zack.
If that's the case, why not mention Charles directly?
"So, you know Charles?" Henry asked, "I'll call him now. What's your name, and who's your boss?"
Owen laughed, "Kid, I've seen arrogant people, but not like you. Charles is your big brother? Fine, call him. Tell him Owen bullied you. If he comes, I'll kneel. If he doesn't, you'll lick my shoes clean!"
The guy who got beaten up yesterday added, "You asked who our boss's boss is? I'll tell you. Our boss is the boss of Harbor Springs. Call the most powerful person you know in Harbor Springs. If our boss makes him kneel, and he dares to squat, you win!"
The thugs behind them laughed disdainfully.
Henry asked, "So you have no boss above you, right?"
"That's right!"
Henry let go of Bella's hand, telling her and Ivy to stand aside, then pointed at Owen, "Come here and lick my shoes clean!"
"What the hell!" Before Owen could speak, the guy who got beaten up yelled, "Attack!"
At his command, over twenty thugs drew watermelon knives and iron rods, rushing Henry.
Bella screamed and buried her face in Ivy's chest.
Ivy, covering her mouth in fear, stared wide-eyed, unable to make a sound.
Henry didn't retreat but charged at Owen and the guy, delivering a flying double kick to their necks.
They staggered and fell to the ground without a sound.
Henry moved so fast that the others didn't react in time.
As they realized what happened, Owen was getting up, dazed, when Henry's second kick landed on his abdomen, sending him flying into a wall.
As Owen's back hit the wall and he started to slide down, Henry rushed over and kicked him in the chest.
"Ugh—"
Owen, leaning against the wall, spat out a mouthful of blood mist.
His men were stunned.
Ivy was also shocked but quickly shook Bella, who was still clinging to her, whispering, "Look, look!"
Bella looked up to see Henry leaping towards them, seemingly flying over their heads.
Instinctively, Ivy and Bella ducked. When they looked back, they saw the four thugs who had followed them, each holding a watermelon knife, ready to take Ivy and Bella hostage.
With a heroic spirit, Henry showed no mercy.
A series of kicks and punches left the four thugs spitting blood and lying on the ground.
Henry didn't stop there.
He followed up with a flying kick, landing near the guy who got beaten up yesterday. Before the guy could react, Henry kicked the side of his knee.
With a crack, the guy dropped to his knees, screaming in pain.
Having neutralized the threat to the two girls, Henry figured subduing Owen and the guy would make the others back down.
"Kill!"
To his surprise, one thug shouted, and the others charged with their knives.
Henry realized these thugs weren't just a ragtag group; they had a leader behind them, making them more cohesive.
Henry's principle was always to disable the leader, sparing the followers if possible. But now, he couldn't hold back.
He charged into the fray, using his fists and feet. The only sounds were his strikes and the thugs' screams.
In Ivy and Bella's stunned eyes, over twenty thugs lay on the ground, crying in pain, with Henry standing tall among them.
