Chapter 72: Bad Luck

Henry saw Sean and his men, smiled, and walked over. Sean, now calm, knew he had to face Henry. His men, however, were trembling.

Henry had declared that Charles's men must leave Harbor Springs. If Henry was here, it meant Charles and his men had been defeated. Would Henry spare them?

Henry reached Sean, who signaled his men to leave and contact Charles's men to find out what happened.

Henry asked, "Is Erick in his office?"

Sean, expressionless, replied, "I'm just a guard. Why would I tell you where Erick is?"

Henry asked, "Didn't Charles call you? He assigned you here because he has shares in the bar, right? Didn't he tell you those shares are now mine?"

Sean was stunned, believing Henry. He couldn't imagine Henry bluffing about this.

Sean's phone beeped with a message: "Charles failed."

What the hell! If this news spread, no one in Harbor Springs would believe it. Charles, known for his fighting skills, defeated by an unknown country bumpkin? It sounded like a joke or a fairy tale.

Sean, regaining his composure, said, "You're tough. You took down Charles and his men, who were all skilled fighters. But I haven't heard from Charles, so I won't tell you where Erick is."

Henry nodded, "I asked because you were here. No problem, continue your work."

Henry turned to go upstairs. "Brother," Sean called, "can you let Isabelle go?"

Henry, puzzled, asked, "What do you mean? What did Isabelle tell you?"

Sean explained, "She didn't say anything. I watched her grow up. She's the only college graduate in our village. Her boyfriend is Bryan from The Davis Family Group. She's straightforward and naive, easily impressed by someone like you. But her family and our village wouldn't accept her being with you. She might seem genuinely interested now, but I believe she'd regret it eventually."

Henry smiled, "I thought you liked her too."

Sean replied, "Of course I do, but I know I'm not worthy."

"Did you know Bryan told her he wants to marry Victoria?"

"What," Sean exclaimed, "Is Bryan crazy? Marrying a woman his father was involved with?"

Henry stared at Sean. Bryan choosing Victoria over Isabelle was already baffling, but Victoria being involved with Bryan's father was even more shocking.

Henry patted Sean's shoulder, "Isabelle is a great girl. Like you, I want her to have a good life. You don't seem like a bad person, and I don't think I am either."

Henry didn't trouble Sean further and went to the cashier, asking, "Where's Erick's office?"

Victoria appeared at the second-floor stairway, trying to stay calm despite her fear. She asked, "Who's looking for Erick?"
