Chapter 52: Do You Want to Fight?
Inside and outside the hospital, at least fifty or sixty of Charles's brothers were present, with a police car parked just a few hundred meters away from the inpatient department.
Charles had a gun at his waist, and seven or eight brothers behind him, yet Henry dared to show up alone.
The Henry that Charles and his brothers saw at this moment was not just exuding a murderous aura but also an overwhelming sense of dominance!
Charles also had this kind of dominance, but it was completely overshadowed by the Henry before him.
Henry had not left but had climbed over the wall from behind the hospital.
Just moments ago, Charles had charged out with his men, guns in hand. A direct confrontation would have resulted in casualties.
So Henry chose the most advantageous moment to descend upon them, catching Charles off guard!
Henry said, "When I pointed the gun at Zack's forehead, he said I wouldn't dare pull the trigger. Now he's in the operating room. Do you also think I won't pull the trigger?"
Charles's brothers, though frightened, couldn't remain indifferent with their leader held at gunpoint. They prepared to move forward, but Charles raised his hands to stop them.
"First, let me make one thing clear," Charles said, staring into Henry's eyes. "I didn't send my brothers to your family's house.
I'm not afraid of death, nor am I betraying my brothers. I just want to prove to you that I am a man of my word."
Charles indeed wasn't afraid of death, but it wasn't about keeping his word. He was deeply concerned about his wife and daughter's safety.
Henry replied, "I know, which is why I only punished Zack and didn't touch your wife and daughter."
At this moment, Sean and his men arrived, seeing Henry holding a gun to Charles's forehead, their scalps tingling.
They knew Henry could fight but didn't realize he had such a powerful presence. Charles, known for his toughness in Harbor Springs, was completely overshadowed!
Charles noticed a pavilion nearby and suggested, "Can we talk over there?"
Henry holstered his gun and gestured with his head.
Charles glanced back at his brothers, signaling them to wait, then walked with Henry to the pavilion.
Some who hadn't seen Henry before were amazed at how young he was.
"Sean," someone asked, "is this kid Henry? He's got a lot of killing intent, but he's just a kid!"
Sean, expressionless, replied, "Henry and Zack probably thought the same way at first!"
The person fell silent.
Sean and the others watched Henry from a distance, sensing that if Henry could get past Charles, he would surely carve out a place for himself in Harbor Springs, just like Charles did years ago, stirring up a storm of blood and violence.
Though Harbor Springs had its notorious gang leaders, most were locals. Only Charles was from out of town.
He had established himself in Harbor Springs by fighting alongside Henry and Zack.
Henry was also an outsider.
To establish himself in Harbor Springs, he would have to face not only Charles but also the local forces, which were quite united.
However, Sean could see that Henry, despite his youth, had the makings of a leader. His fighting skills aside, facing Charles and his many brothers, with the police nearby, he dared to confront Charles alone. That took immense courage and determination!
At the pavilion, Charles asked, "You've crippled my two top men. How do we settle this?"
Henry replied, "I said at the bar that each of the 20 people who fought must pay me $100,000. I've dealt with eight of them, so you can deduct $800,000. You only need to pay me $1.2 million.
Now Zack and Henry each reduce another $100,000, plus the others who were injured, another $100,000. You only need to pay me $900,000.
Also, those who went to the bar must leave Harbor Springs as originally stated!"
Charles looked at Henry expressionlessly, thinking: My men are so badly injured, Zack and Henry might be crippled, and you still want me to pay $900,000?
And my brothers can no longer appear in Harbor Springs?
Charles calmly said, "In that case, let's settle this with a fight."
"Fine," Henry said, "Do you pick the time and place, or do I?"
In the past, Charles asked this question of others; now it was the other way around.
Charles said, "There's an abandoned brick kiln in the southern suburbs. How about 8 PM tomorrow?"
Henry immediately replied, "See you then!"
Charles asked, "You know the rules, right? Since we've set a fight, neither side can attack before the appointed time and place."
Henry disdainfully said, "Keep your men in check. Otherwise, my revenge won't spare anyone!"
With that, he walked out of the pavilion.
Sean and the others watched Henry leave, then immediately approached Charles.
Charles said, "I've arranged a fight with him for 8 PM tomorrow at the abandoned brick kiln in the southern suburbs. Tell the brothers to gather as many people as possible!"
Henry had planned to settle things with Charles before going to the bar to find Erick. Now that he had an appointment with Charles, he had to delay.
Seeing it was already 4 AM, Henry returned to the hospital.
The nurse, seeing him return, scolded him for leaving before finishing his IV, saying the prepared medicine had gone to waste.
He said it was fine, he'd skip it today and continue tomorrow.
Back in the ward, he saw Isabelle sprawled across the bed, the blanket and sheets in a mess, clearly a restless sleeper.
Henry slowly straightened the blanket and sheets, then picked Isabelle up and laid her down properly, before lying down himself, holding her in his arms.
Isabelle, deeply asleep and drawn to Henry's scent, soon nestled her face into his chest.
Henry gently stroked her cheek and even kissed her, but she didn't wake up.
Henry's hand moved down her body until he felt the sanitary pad, then withdrew.
